    man, for me, Sharkees videos are like a beautiful language i can just barely "fully" understand, though a guaranteed impossibility if someone asked me to repeat back or write said language. very little of this info is retained by me, but the opportunity to learn and attempt to fully grasp is what i really appreciate, and Sharkee really breaks it down into extremely simple terms for people like myself. *thank you, Sharkee,* for continuing to share your knowledge in fun and interesting ways.

    Another thing you could look at is the efficiency of the explosion. How much matter gives you how much bang. At the slim end you can look at things like chemical reactions, move up to nuclear fission devices, nuclear fusion devices, stars, super novae, black holes, and finally matter anti-matter reactions. In that case, it's a question of energy generation processes, where I guess the big bang would come out on top since it's where all the energy comes from in the first place.
    On the subject of the video material itself, I've heard type 1a supernova just called a nova (that's the binary system where a white dwarf collects enough material to briefly start a runaway fusion reaction). I bring this up because you can do a fun thing where you call that a nova, the stellar collapse a supernova, and the gamma ray burst collapse a hypernova. In the last case, I was under the impression those were when a black hole collapses, as it's the same process of energy release from a black hole's accretion disk, just heavily concentrated at a single moment when a huge amount of material is absorbed by the new black hole all at once.

    The long-duration GRB you mention matches up with models for complete collapse into a black hole, and rapid consumption of the general mass of the star. The jets are essentially magnetic ejection of the excess mass that cannot simply fall in. This stuff is fascinating... Something more massive than our entire solar system by at least an order of magnitude being completely destroyed in seconds. This is innately humbling and awe-inspiring at the same time.

    Two theoretical ones:
    1. A collision between two massive bodies one made of matter and the one of antimatter.
    2. A black hole evaporating at the end of time through Hawking radiation (see Isaac Arthur's channel for better explanations).
    But I think it's a pretty well made list for observed events.

    ? Oh no, you are wrong about that sir. Giving my child the name " GRB 080916C" just screams "unique" and "powerful" to me ears. There will not be another person with that name for millennia either. Truly one of a kind person and name to suit them. I hope you will feel honoured when they grow to be the worlds greatest theoretical physicist and astrophysicist.

      Fleurs de Lilas when they are active they constantly spew vast amounts of energy at a constant rate dependant upon the amount of matter falling in from their accretion disk. (the objects in a quasar plasma jet can be hotter than 18 trillion °C)

    • @fleursdelilas9487
      @fleursdelilas9487 6 років тому

    • @vikingleong7393

      Fleurs de Lilas all depends though. is there a defined timeline before it cant be called an explosion?

    • @fleursdelilas9487
      @fleursdelilas9487 6 років тому

      I don't know. For me an explosion is when a significant but limited amount of energy is released at once, and that's it. quazars continuously absorb and release matter and energy.

  • @jeffo9396
    @jeffo9396 6 років тому

    Sharkee, I think I found a mistake in your video. At 10:22 you said the amount of energy released by GRB 080916C was 1,000,000 million trillion trillion trillion joules. But then at 12:35 you said it had 10,000 million trillion trillion trillion joules of energy released. I'm guessing you accidentally gave the figure for a regular supernova instead of the GRB. Still though, I thought the video was really interesting.

    • @yziib3578
      @yziib3578 6 років тому

      Googoplex, given the definition of an explosion used in the video it was an explosion. The Big Bang started, fraction of a second later inflation started, fraction of a second later inflation stoped. When inflation stoped all the energy that was inflating the universe was converted into heat. This is the most energy released into a volume of space that has every happen, and this happened across the whole universe. So by the definition used in the video the Big Bang was the biggest explosion.

    The most powerfull is people who believe all of this and want to convince others this is real.

    You're an ARAB? Well that's just great......you just made me unsubscribe.....hope you are happy. I am sorry, but I cannot support your right wing Muslim agenda which I can clearly now see was the purpose of this channel. Lulling me into a state of ease with your videos on science only to later change things over to Islamic Sharia studies. I'm onto your game man. As soon as I see evidence for the Sharia stuff.....I'm out of here. Until then I love your channel and your videos too.......
    Yours very truly,
    The Infidel
