The people need to be politically conscious to be engaged in nation-building discuss. We don't need senseless protests that lead to no where. Prioritizing economic reform over constitutional reform of Nigeria is like building a strong house on quicksand. Mr. president needs to have a rethink. Both can run in parallel.
Constitutional reform will affect the oil empire he has built for himself.
In my own opinion. This President would not touch restructuring. Just listen to what is being said in his response. He has priority which is economic which he is a failure! Has no capacity to handle one issue let alone simultaneously handle more than one issue at the same time, the stuff that leaders do. All I hear is I am not here to restructure, I am here to enjoy. Restructuring is bad for his business, he will never send that bill to the national assembly. From his responses, he sees this move as a way to deny him his absolute power he is enjoying right now. People should read between the lines of his response.

This is another golden opportunity given to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to etch his name in gold and his footprint in the sand of time. Few months ago he bangled the opportunity of multilevel policing creation. Now request for new constitution by respected Nigerians from all walks of life will take care of all burning issues. I pray the president seizes this momentum and act and ultimately makes history for himself. New constitution is all we need to make Nigeria work.

A PEOPLE-ORIENTED PEOPLE-FRIENDLY FEDERALIST CONSTITUTION.
First, I am shocked that this topic even has a group of Patriots who are seriously pushing for it to the level that they are able to engage the President publicly before Nigerians. It's a miracle: more importantly is the fact that the Patriots in this group recognise the fact that the Constitutional Delegate CANNOT comprise politicians in the National Assembly nor any individual with any form of past political office. It shows this group is in touch with CONSCIENCE and the Nigerian realities.
Second, I am gladdest that the most important DEMAND is what the Patriots are focused on: get this Constitutional Change right and all the aspirations of the protest would have died a natural death among other things like plugging and solving all the LOOPHOLES in the illegal Militarised Unitarised Criminalised 1999 Constitution.
Third, from Mr President's response, there is no clear cut TIMELINE to commence the process and as far as I am concerned, he did not say anything. No doubt, prioritising economic reforms, (i.e., if those reforms are in line with the reversal of the Power and Petrol Subsidies, opening our borders e.t.c in the short term in the first place,) is good but beyond that we want a clear cut TIMELINE to commence this process of the complete change of the 1999 Illegal Constitution. We cannot wait forever. It must commence now.
The Patriots have PERFECTLY captured the modality for the process and I pray for all of them to be blessed as well as those Nigerian Patriots who have been pushing for these for years who may not be there, e.g., Rev Chris Okotie, Dele Farotimi, Omoyele Sowore e.t.c. We will need them and those other Patriots I may not know about now. Nigeria must succeed and take her rightful place in the commity of nations. We do not want a fragmented Nigeria at the end. Make hay while the sun still shines. We do not want to achieve this only after we have used our hands to tear the country apart because it is where we are headed if we continue the way we are carrying on. It's inevitable if we continue like this. It would just be a matter of time. We are still in a dictatorship. That we have some semblance of democracy does not and cannot hide this fact as long as the 1999 Constitution subsists. It's our TRUEST AND ONLY ENEMY. All the past and present "leaders" are just It's victims and the biggest victims are the Nigerian MASSES who the Patriots Group represent. I had no clue such group exists.
May God continue to bless and keep the Patriots and strengthen their resolve to achieve purpose for the Nigerian People and President Tinibu will do well to write his name in the sand of history to deprioritise other things but give the necessary priority to this subject and immediately commence the process and God will bless him and give him long life for it.
This is what the protester should have called for, would they have focused on this one particular aim and seriously demand for it, every mindful Nigerians would have supported the calling, but alas there was divid in the populace regarding this so called protest.

This visit reminded me that Professor Emeka Anyaoku visited Sani Abacha with words of advice which the later didn’t act upon next was his mysterious death it’s now left for Tinubu to take or forget their advice.

The New Constitution should be SUPREME. It must NOT have boundaries. It should give room for REFERENDUM and the right to secede. They should remove AGE, TRIBE, AND RELIGION in Resumes and as requirements in filling forms for all political positions. Without these in place, it will be a waste of time and resources.

A president that speaks from his mind and intuition, speaks from a well chosen set of words, this is realistic. Other's will get a paper or set of papers and start reading from. There was an important point Emeka Anyaoku made in his presentation, which might be lost on the present government. He said the present constitution is illegitimate. This follows, therefore, that the present government is illegitimate, and all laws made therefrom are of no effect and void.
