Don't mentally prepare, get flippers aka flip flops they have to be one molded part each foot or the glue will come apart. You wear them in the shower I NEVER set foot on the shower floor ! You need a 1500watt inverter and some small ones. 750 is a good middle of the road inverter. A small rice pot, Living in a Van Denoy he showed how he would buy raw meat at Walmart and cook it in the rice pot. Practice getting shower at the gym . You need to know what to bring now before you get out there. Baby wipes just great idea to have them. Try sleep in the car now and get comfortable work the bugs out while you have the time.

Hi Joey I live in my car in the UK. I wanted a small home but unfortunately land is so expensive and house prices are insane. They have everyone accepting a lifetime of debt for shelter which is a basic human right and shouldn't take a lifetime to pay for. Yet here we are all fighting for housing due to greed and incompetence. Planning permission is a scam the land belongs to us.

fan with ice in it = swamp cooler. you basically have to have a vapor barrier or yeah, mold and rust will happen.
last few years I've been working on a plan to move into a vehicle (not a car, more like a really large van). looking forward to it - getting tired of paying more and more each year for the same amount of space (more space than I need or want). bought the vehicle, working on getting it mechanically sound
carlife/vanlife can be cheap, but it can also be *NOT* cheap. I personally am going with the not cheap option as I want to build my own house on wheels that I dont have to build again for 20 years - do it once/do it right. sourced the batteries a few weeks ago, 2x 460ah 12v behemoths, planning on ~2kw solar panels, roughly.
bunch of good points, especially the relationship angle - you basically have to hookup with a woman who's got her own vehicle. thanks for posting!

If we need extra money we will work camp but for the most part we are Comfortable on disability. Looking into the future we are going to build an off grid earth ship as they are called in NM. There’s a saying “Everything you own eventually owns you.” After 6 years of traveling we have ended up in New Mexico. Semi mild winters and summers, 20% humidity, and a great place for solar and wind power. Plus you can almost pull off anywhere and overnight.

I personally wash it every 2 or 3 days so essentially twice a week sometimes 3 times. Also dude if you want the secret to amazing silky soft hair WITHOUT using coconut oil or anything for that matter...cold water. that's it, cold water. as cold as you can stand and you don't have to take a cold shower what I do is take a warm shower and then once I'm ready to get out then I turn it cold as cold as I can stand and just rinse ur hair with that Ice cold water for at least a minute or 2. you won't need coconut oil or anything if u do it right and it's worth freezing ur nuts off for a minute believe me. you're welcome

Being a female I found out fast that us humans require very little and stronger than we know. @@trteeerryfse-wy2ww you can make it happen. Do save a nest egg. I always made sure to keep a minimum of 1,200 for repairs that I wouldn't allow myself to touch. I used dollar tree black foam bord to black out every back window. I just used a news paper and marker to make patter and cut them with scissors and used black duck tape to keep it secure. I had one of those dollar tree batterie operated press light that stick with velcro to use at night. And a black out curtain to divide the front seats from the back. Durring the day id use a sun viser for the front windshield. It gave me privacy when I needed to take a nap because I worked nock shift or when I needed to use the can. I always kept my folger container in a small 3 dollar ice chest after every use to prevent spills till I was able to dump it and wipe it with disinfectant wipes after rising. This prevented any bad smells. I still have my lil cruiser and keep her serviced. I can't part with her because she was my shelter safety durring the worst of times for over a year. She gets driven twice a month to keep her in good condition and I was able to purchase a low mileage 1 owner Nissan frontier that I bought a camper shell to have a back up vehicle. I assure you if you ever find yourself in a bad situation just know You can not only survive but will thrive and learn that no matter how bad times get in life you will make it. Just make sure to get some wheels and let and ask God to keep you safe.

I'm currently in Kansas City and we get 80% + humidity and 90 to 100 degrees in the summer. I work overnights so unfortunately I have to sleep in the heat of the day. How I handle that is (being from Arizona originally) I also have a high tolerance for heat but dry heat is different than humid heat. Anyway I use cold water from my ice chest, wet a T-shirt and have a few fans and open windows to ventilation and try to be in the shade. When I'm awake I'm in a store cafe or at a library or at my climate controlled storage (still haven't gotten rid of stuff from my house) in the winter it is damn cold up here but I use a propane heater and a cot with several blankets and a heavy weighted blanket. No problem. Also this isn't the first time in my life that I've "lived rough" , to me this is luxury but everyone's experience will vary.

As a female that has slept 6 nights so far in my car, every night i needed to go pee, unfortunately like you mentioned i did have to do #2 the first night 😂 yeah it's doable but i now know to stay close to a place i can use the restroom while also having an EPP (Emergency Potty Plan) in my car which consists of a slim but long pee cup with tightly sealed lid (have used every morning so far when i wake up, I just dump it in the nearest toilet and rinse it then let it air dry)
Then I have a recycled plastic rectangle container with a sealable lid (about the size of a football), I have this tucked in a large cute lunchbox i've rarely used, its perfect because I can zip it up if I can't get out of my car, and it's all one piece of insulating material so if there was any accidents for some reason I could easily clean it.
Within this lunchbox i also have several plastic bags and paper bags.
I will stop talking about my EPP now 😂
This I luckily haven't had to use but after the first night and having to use what I had available, I knew I wanted a better set up just in case.
You inspire me to make videos about my transition from a normalized housing situation to a car life situation. I can already tell I'm in this for the long run, thanks again for the great content !

They make it hard on people wanting to live van life here. You got a pretty decent set up especially as you have your tools for carpentry & artwork. It doesn’t look disorganised. Looks cosy. Best of wishes 🍀✌🏻

I admire the heck outta you, Joey. I just discovered your videos, and my favorite thing about you is that you have zero self-pity. You're living your life on your own terms, and you take the good with the bad, thanks to a great attitude. Good on you, bro! How'd you get the vehicle? Did you save and put down the cash? Impressive. Keep 'em coming! --Dave, Oakland, CA

9:05 I lived out of my car in FL while working concrete and asphalt in the heat all day and delivering on nights and weekends.
I ended up getting some kind of heat rash that started on my back and started to spread and that's when I had to ask someone to stay with them and have A/C to sleep in till it healed.
Had I not gotten a chance to get out of the heat idk what would have happened to my body with that rash.

Had a gf at the time too.
We would park our cars next to each other and sleep in my Jeep.
We stayed in a storage unit for a while.
But you can still have a girl while living out of your car too.
I was also working out at the time and had muscles which helped.

Hello my friend I'm Andrew first I'd like to say I respect your opinion and person. Sir I assure you if you're intestines are unable to hold it in an can't puke it up. You sir will shit anywhere you happen to be that exact second. Sitting standing walking running swimming jumping humping it doesn't matter. Again after we human beings finally kick are oxygen habit and stop playing goast in the meatsuit. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 We shit an piss our selves like a lot. I mean imagine the amount of food and liquid the average American eats in a 24 hour day falling out Your ass at once while you piss your self. You know what nvm stuff I'm thinking about involved upright body's. IDT someone you got to lay down will shit it all around the same time intestines are curvy and tube like if a body's flat. Unless you like put your foot on where the dude's upper intestines are gently pushing your shoe or foot if you're a pervert down while sliding twords the large intestine. 😮😅😊😂🎉. I reread this twice I'm going to still post.

I've been living in my van for over 2 years. Usually I am near a place that has a public bathroom (washroom for you Canadians out there) but I also have an emergency bucket with a toilet seat on it and I use kitty litter in bags in the bucket, again only for extreme emergencies. People throw diapers away in the trash bins, so there's that. Next : coffee, I make my own coffee with the pour over method, way better than Starbucks and cheaper too. But in the end "you do you" I'm just sharing with you what I do.

hey heres some tips for staying cool during summer
only blow air in your dwelling if its cooler outside than inside if its hot outside only use your fans to vent out the hot air
take advantage of evaporative cooling by dipping a towl in water and either laying it over the top of your car or hang it around your you shoulders
heat is energy moving fast if you add more hot air in your dwelling your only adding more fast moving energy the cool breeze of the fan is a lie it isnt cooling you off in the long run but by exhausting it you reduce the amount of it around you and evaporative cooling works by using that heat energy to your advantage it will soak up heat like a sponge reducing the amount of total heat energy stored in your body or in your car as the energy is used up to cook off the water stored in the towl
i run hot and dont sweat well so the wet towl placed behind my neck and drapped over my chest has probably saved my life from heat stroke on more than one occasion

I live a couple days a week in my mdx, I have a camp stove (15 bucks or so) and a butane propane can mix Walmart 6 buck, so I can make my own coffee on the go.. cooler with milk cause I use a ton of milk but there’s other ways to do creamer… it’s not free but less costly than Starbucks and I can use coffee I like.. also I can make 2 thermos amount of coffee and drink it for hours..
