I think gameplay wise genshin wins; it gets massive content updates and tons of events. Sky is pretty repetitive and empty compared to that but what it excels in is player interaction and community. The little interactions day to day are what make people want to keep playing, you don't really get that in genshin since it's mostly a single player experience.
I think Genshin wins gameplay wise tbh. There is so much to do for many different kinds of people. HUGE exploration, in-depth storyline, fun battle mechanics that you can personalize. On the other hand, Sky is more connected and personal. I can relax more while playing it. I've felt more playing Sky, while I've had a bit more fun playing Genshin. I'd be very happy if either game had won personally.
The thing that Genshin lacks and sky have is community and sense of belonging. I always feel warm and welcome in sky no mater what, in Genshin i feel on edge all the time, everyone is showing off their dmg or arguing which character is best while insulting other characters and players, they get made at the game devs and will insult them at any given chance. I just feel alot of comfort and positivity from sky community, which makes me play and enjoy the game alot more, thats why I’ll choose it over Genshin any day
The one that thinks Genshin deserves a win are genshin players 💀its too mainstream (super annoying to see it CONSTANTLY everywhere, even at cons I attend whereas Sky content is rare to see in my country, let alone fanmerch, Genshin community is awfully toxic, etc. I'm glad Sky won againt it LOL. Not to mention Genshin copied/took inspo of some of their character designs from other games too, it's too uncanny for it to be a coincidence. TLDR; Fuck Genshin. I don't care if people or my friends like it, but good that it got shot down by Sky.

THIS! I'm transgender and Sky is what (indirectly) made me realize that and pretty much saved my life. I would've never made it through all the gender dysphoria and other mental health issues I experienced if it weren't for this incredible game.
