    i will say I am impressed at how gold the goldest gold actually is. That said, I still maintain that the best acrylic gold is still only decent at best when compared to golds from lacquer paints. I would be curious to see what these golds look like airbrushed. You can buy a cordless airbrush nowadays for $30 cdn. some of them even look like the airbrush is just a standard double action airbrush with the compressor screwed directly onto the hose connector so theoretically, you could attach the airbrush to a bigger compressor down the road,. or attach the small compressor to a higher end airbrush. JUST BUY ONE ALREADY!!! especially now that a cheap airbrush costs as much as two normal paint brushes

      I do agree with you re the lacquer paint and enamel actually. I was going to compare these against gold enamel spray gold but it was very unfair. That’s why I kept saying acrylic 😂.
      I’ll get an airbrush one day, I just hate the idea of buying something cheap that will break and get thrown out. I’m thinking about doing a big project with the ultra blacks and the Metallics so if I do I’ll get something decent ☺️

    Hi there! I love your videos (even though I discovered you like a week ago) and I'd love to see more art videos and reviews from you. Tbh, your style looks very vintage and nice and gives 80s and 90s combined with modern style and I love it. And it would may sound odd but i think you should do tutorials about clothing and etc. for people like me who doesn't knows how to dress.

      Thankyou! I’m sorry they are so sporadic coming out, the more I do the better I want them and as I’m sucking in front of camera I’m trying to get better☺️.
      I have a terrible secret to tell you! I have so few clothes I keep cutting them up and just making them look decent on camera with pins, if I walked down the street all the pins would fall out and I’d likely end with much less on 😂. Thankyou for the compliment tho! Glad my hodgepodge of clothing is looking good!💜

    I've seen other artists suggest a coat or tow of white laid down, prior to gold paint. I have not tried gold paint, but want to at some point. I like the Matisse in your examples the best for what I would probably use it for.

    • @StuffBySunshine

      The white did make quite a bit of difference when I primed the boards. Although it took longer for the gold to get gold, it did give it a decent base to work off☺️.

    every prop-maker says that to make the best metallic paint finish, you need to use a gloss black primer.

    • @StuffBySunshine
      @StuffBySunshine  3 місяці тому

      Yeah I can see how that would make it more contrasty. I went for white paper as that’s what most artists use when it’s on an art piece. Suspect it would take less coats on black tho ☺️

  • @facenameple4604
    @facenameple4604 5 місяців тому

    Putting metallics over white will always struggle.
    Try priming with a glossy black and see how it compares.

    Hello, I am a visual artist, from france and I learned from ancient art illuminators, that to have an almost perfect gold, you had to mix gold powder with a binder, water (gum arabic), acrylic or oil, in the proportions 50% powder and 50 % of a binder
    and you will have astonishing results
    By mixing different gold powders, you can create your ideal gold
    thank you for your black 4.0 and musou black test. I was hesitant about the choice, for an exhibition project, I will test by preparing the (wooden) backgrounds in matt lacquer, I will come back to give you a comment if I have had good results

    • @StuffBySunshine
      @StuffBySunshine  4 місяці тому +1

      Aw man i'm sure that would make an absolutely astonishing gold! For this test I really wanted to try acrylic paints that were relatively easy for anyone to get their hands on. But oh my goodness i'd love to try that sometime! It sounds amazing!
      I'd love to see you your project goes, absolutely let me know what happens! :)

      if you want to try
      there is something to do.
      in the gold pigment powder (which is ferrous) put a touch of dishwashing liquid. you will opt for a liquid cream texture and then the binder. (otherwise the powder will not mix well)

    if I'm going to use a gold color in my work (i don't use metallic colors) I would blend chartreuse or willow green with a deep orange/ scarlet/ orange- red. more green for the shadow more orange for the mid tone, more yellow for the highlight.
    I imagine if I were to paint a model, I would use different gold tones for effect.

    • @StuffBySunshine
      @StuffBySunshine  5 місяців тому

      It’s interesting that you prefer a build up of colour to achieve reflections and such. It’s probably a much more controlled way of getting the effects you’re after. I’m a sucker for something shiny though 😂

    What if you used the true gold as a base layer and dry brush the metallic gold over it? I think that would be a nice experiment for a textured 3D object like a rock to look like a gold nugget.
