Check ya info mate, they only make 12 port alloy heads, they have NEVER made a 9 port alloy head ask MR GOOGLE 👍 The alloy head I have is 1 of only 20 or so made ,google the Moodie alloy head !!!!!
When I was working at a Holden dealership in 90s my boss had an E xperimental J port red engine for xu1 development not sure we're it ended up when they closed in 2014 but it was very unique
Pretty well everything mate, did it up to be a tough Holden 6 built for a bit of drag racing. The build was in memory of my father as he was a Holden 6 man
I've moved on to turbos and 4x4's these days, but your video is making me want to restore my old hq sitting in the garden. Awesome work mate, what do you plan on putting it in?
I have restored my old work truck that i used for painting, i did a resto on it 20years ago and now i have retired i did another resto on her again, i wont be putting paint in the back of her anymore ! I have put the motor into a 1972 HQ BELMONT UTE with a 5 speed supra box and salisbury 10 bolt diff ! I have always wanted a nice worked street motor and now i have got it, and i wanted to keep it old school , that why the triple sus are on it ! Everyone is going big v8s and tubos etc, just wanted the new generation to see something different !
I am definitely NO Holden book of knowledge. But it was interested to watch and know more about this Cylinder Head. I am guessing without reading the story on Google that these heads were a custom built unit. What is the main advantage with the 9 Port head ?
Hi, david, are you in australia or usa, are all those parts availible in australia, the motor does have electronic ignition ,would the MSD make a big difference !!!!
@@MrWildtriplesu I believe so yes, silly but think of it this was, a stock coil is around 20,000 volts and 30 ish joules of energy, my MSD is 45,000 volts and 135 jules, what starts a fire better, a match or a flame thrower. I also use Brisk spark plugs with a 3mm gap, side discharge. I wa kicked by the msd one day, it hurt real bad, had to go sit down lol. Im an Ozzy.
That's got a blue motor bosch HEI system in it grab hold of the dizzy end of the coil lead an crack it over a couple times an tell us if u can fell the difference between Holden's 40,000volts and MSDS 45,000volts
it needs at the least 2inch sus or 45 webers to make full power, also the cams a bit mild, at g&h in the 70s the wildest wade solid cam would spit fuel out the trumpets idling at 1200rpm, thats only a baby cam
I have been advised by the SU professional that tunes the SU's if i ever pull it down put a smaller cam in it for more torque, he said at the moment i have to rev it more before the cam comes in !!
@@MrWildtriplesu mate 2inch SUs are a no brainier, working on vacuum they only open up when the the motor wants more fuel, just like a holly vac secondary, still the SUs will be way down on power compared to Webers, they make a huge difference in power from bottom end to top in power and also the induction noise is heaven
No mate,it is one of only about 40 made. Google ian moodie head and have a read and you might learn something !!!! Obviously your knowledge of heads does not go past catalogues !!!!!!plus the fact you don't know what your talking about !!!!!!! Also yella terra only made a 12 port alloy head this is a 9 ,can you count !!!!!!!!
Should put the thermo fan on the inside. It's easier to suck than blow.
From a guy with a worked 265 this is awesome to see others keeping these great pieces alive
Mate, that was like having a tug without the vinegar stroke.
Yellow Terra still make 9 pork alloy heads. They also give combustion chamber size options

Sounds exactly like my dads 186s xu1 engine same intake and triple SU carbys his has a rare cam
love the red with the yellow, sounds yummy, the way all engines should sound
my favorite was the179 i think the 179 head was the head with the butterfly combustion chambers and the heads that yellow terra used
What’s been done to the motor

Nice work! Does the sump still use internal pick up or does it pick up externally with the mods you have done? Cheers!
Hi mate,
It pick up externally !
Thanks
@@garycooney8045 thanks for your reply. Great work! Does the internal pick up get removed/blocked off. Keen for some knowledge into this. Cheers!

Hey mate, what cam did you go with for this engine?
It sounds like an old tractor.

Hi mate, don't know the cam size but I still have the box with the info on it,can pay a pic of the info if you like !
‘Yota gear box.
Trippels it's off it's face this motor
Would U like to sell it
Hi Joanne ,
No not at this stage, got to enjoy it yet 👍
Get a hot shot ignition, MSD 6al-2 and all the goodies, use brisk 3mm plugs, stunning.
Tripple webber will be a big gain as well.
