Migi and Dali are twins. However they disguised themselves as one person named Hitori. They trick a couple into adopting them. They switch places for even the smallest tasks. However they have to make sure, they are not noticed by anyone.

I extremely recommend this anime. The ending was heart wrenching but was delivered perfectly and quite possibly one of the best anime endings I've ever seen. I literally cried after finishing it because it's rare to come across masterpieces like this anime
I wish that Dali's characterization for saving Eini was a bit more developed and emotional rather than "he's like me" and more something like "mother wanted us to be together as brothers, and I want to fulfill her dying wish", but besides that, I loves this show and the ending. My only complaint is I would like an OVA or extra episode to see Migi and Dali living as themselves with the old man and woman rather than the quick half-episode montage we got in the last episode.

I loved this because of the bizzare but comedy effect to it that sometime felt creepy or weird/surreal.
It reminds me of two games I played made by the same person, Life Gallery and Cat Museum.
I feel like she would have made a lot of great Manga/Anime and honestly it also kinda reminds of Junji Ito when Souchi is on screen, comedy but still unsettling and horror.
Sadly she died and this and Sakamoto Desu Ga are the only two long term projects she ever made.
After her passing I looked up the other two and they were really short projects, one simply about the daughter of a dinosaur and a woman (yes it's kinda weird XD but still kinda cute because the daughter is adorable but there's no real story) and another short story meant to be horror/comedy and unsettling where a guy sees that someone taller than him and his family measuring on the wood beam that they use to mesure their height and he starts to believe a ghost live there, at the end of the story he wakes up in the middle of the night and they show you what is the truth about the ghost which is still kinda messed up in a way XD.
Still it's a pity she died, both because she was young and because I doubt someone can nail perfectly her way of writing those kind of comedy/surreal stories in the near future.
Maybe one day but not now.

Haha, yeah, honestly the show got really fucked up in the psychological kinda way with the whole Trend infantilized in diapers thing, but I have the viewpoint that this whole show is completely absurd and bizarre that I just laughed at the wackyness as hijinks to the extreme, so not taking it seriously except for the actual murder mystery helps with coping with the craziness.

I really love how melancholic this weird and even creepy show can get, it's surprising heartfelt watching it. I hope the author is in peace, she was a talented woman who produced multiple amazing series all before turning 40, it's a shame that cancer did her in. The ending especially makes me reminisce of my middle and high-school days in the 2010's, it feels like a 2015 summer song and makes me genuinely cry at how those moments are just memories now, which I can only cherish and never relive.
