Toronto Plane Spotter Hope to get better shots on Thursday! :) I think this livery won't look better to me in a few months. Anyway we will see how it will look in the smaller planes. To me, it's unfinished and looks dated already. Such a shame Lufthansa are getting sucked into the 'Eurowhite" trend. I'm sure it'll look better on an A320neo but I don't want to see it on an A380.
It feels like they are saving money on yellow color :)) I.e. if you don't have third color on the livery, you don't have to have third color on the uniforms, in the cabin, on the marketing material. I wonder if their web page will change now? As I've said elsewhere, the crane should have been yellow, then everyone would appreciate it, and Lufthansa wouldn't have to go around convincing customers with this expensive fly-around showcase PR stunts. "Mark my words" - they will add yellow - or eat their brushes! :))
The yellow will still remain in the cabin and on the check in counters for example! Not sure about the uniforms... But it is lost on the plane which is pretty sad in my opinion! But you are right: Who knows maybe they add yellow into the crane on the tail. We will see it when it will be officially presented! :)

I don't mind it at all! The all-white fuselage is classier than the grey belly. As well, the continuation of blue down the empennage like Qantas is quite appealing to my sense of style! I will miss the yellow logo however, it made Lufthie planes so recognizable... I give it a decent 6/10 :)
I guess the all white style is modern today! I don''t know I miss something on the body! I guess the livery looks alright on the A320 family for example! But it looks boring on a widebody to me! It WILL BE A GREY BELLY AGAIN in Winter. Lufthansa is not going to wash their planes every week. So it will be nice and dirty and thanks to the white body - you will see it. Not only for that reason it is a big mistake, what they did. I hoped for a change for years... but thats not it !

Wow, zu diesem Fang kann man einfach nur gratulieren, da dürftest du wohl einer der ersten sein! Ich persönlich bin sogar ziemlich positiv überrascht von dieser Livery, meiner Meinung nach absolut modern und elegant, die alte schien mir schon seit langem überhaupt nicht mehr in die zeit zu passen... Sicher gibt es auch viele negative Stimmen zu der Livery, aber dazu muss ich auch sagen, dass es immer eine gewisse Zeit braucht, bis man sich an eine neue Livery gewöhnt, die wird im Laufe der Zeit deutlich an Gefallen gewinnen! :) Auf jeden Fall Daumen hoch!
CSpotting Vielen Dank erstmal für den netten Kommentar! :) Viele können die Lackierung wirklich noch nicht gesehen haben. Heute morgen kam sie frisch aus dem Paintshop in FCO. Hier werden die Kabinenmodifikationen vorgenommen und am Montag soll sie glaube ich nach FRA überführt werden. Donnerstag kommt sie dann auf ihrem Deutschland Rundflug nochmal zu uns. Leider war das Wetter mal wieder typisch Norddeutsch und der Runwaywechsel 10 min vor der Ankunft, haben bei der Qualität des Videos auch nicht wirklich geholfen. :/ Was mich betrifft, bin ich einer derjenigen, die sich nicht wirklich mit der Lackierung anfreunden können. Sieht aus wie JOON in einem schickeren Blau. Aber wie ein Premium Anbieter wirkt es für mich nicht! Man hätte mehr draus machen können. Auch mit den nur 2 vorhandenen Farben.

Zunächst einmal ist Optik Geschmacksache und es gab wirklich sehr gute Gründe für eine Überarbeitung der Livery, von Blödsinn zu sprechen ist also schonmal falsch! ;) Zudem muss man immer denken, dass man meistens einige Wochen braucht, um sich an eine neue Lackierung zu gewöhnen, ich könnte dir einige Liveries aufzählen, die mir am Anfang nicht zugesagt haben und die ich heute absolut genial finde! Ich denke nicht, dass man sich bei Lufthansa damit schadet, in unserer modernen Zeit braucht es auch mal etwas Neues, gerade auch für die jüngere Kundschaft! :)
Whoa! I loved how the livery was only revealed as it turned off, giving some time of suspense! It’s an interesting livery to say the least, a bit bland in my eyes. However, I think it’ll grow on me like the Qantas and Air Canada ones did! Keep it up!
I have to disagree with the comment section, I really love the new livery. It's simple, the darker blue and white logo looks modern and that makes it noble in my opinion. It's not cluttered like you see on other airlines which makes Lufthansa unique.
The video is not bad at all! Just the opposite, there is something dramatic about the way the plane comes in, with all lights on, and then it lands and turns..... and that exciting moment when the new paint job is revealed. I sort of like the new livery, it looks simple and elegant and somehow.... very German :-) But of course it takes some using to. Thumbs up, that was a great catch!

Yep that is my opinion too! I really don't like Lufthansas strategy here. They say they have to look clear and botique today, but in reality it just looks plain and cheap to me. From four down to two colours! Who wouldn't thought that the real reason for the change is cutting down costs on the livery? Anyway thank you very much for watching! :)
It’s all a matter of personal view, but we kinda agree to the same thing, it has a feeling that something is missing, and it’s the yellow touch that made Lufthansa so recognizable anywhere, and miles away in the air.... they should have left the yellow touch either in the writing of Lufthansa or somewhere else... I hit the like button for the Queen she is gorgeous...
It's hardly a new livery, but rather a subtle refresh. They could have updated the typeset but they didn't. At least the brassy yellow-gold accents were toned down. I always enjoy flying Lufty.
My initial impression of the dark blue from the tail all the way down to the body of the plane is that it creates some sort of optical illusion making the tail look so huge and tall -- thus, the proportion of this to the entire plane in white now makes the look very tail-heavy; the balance and gracefulness is lost.
Very cool you were able to catch it already! I'm now somewhat used to the tail but I think it would look way more classy if the crane was gold. They also could have enlarged the lufthansa-letters the way Swiss did. It just looks so plain and boring like this..

I like it - Looks clean, elegant & modern . The tail reminds me of the old BOAC back then and that dark blue was also one smart livery until the Brits spoiled it turning into British Airways.
I think this just a temporary livery with the tail scheme disguised with a decal until Feb. 7th, when the full new livery will be shown to the world. They can't be leaving it like this surely?

I think it doesn't look like Qantas! The little silver line between the red and the white and the font of Qantas looks way better than this! Indeed it looked old but Lh missed a chance to create a decent livery!
Would be ineresting but I think that won't happen! LH has a pretty strong codeshare partners with Singapore Arilines and Cathay Pacific for flights to Australia and New Zealand!

I really like it. It's a clean and mature design. The danger of making it too dramatic is that it looks childish and messy, like Air Canada's horrible new livery.

Eigentlich ein wenig übertrieben nur wegen der Lackierung! Überlege aber das Gleiche! :D Obwohl bei mir liegt das auch an EW! Einfach schade, dass vor Jahren die Basis in LH geschlossen wurde und alle Verbindungen an GWI bzw EW abgegeben haben!
Das war auch mein erster Gedanke mit dem sparen. Finde das Design zwar cool, aber ich glaube, wäre es unabhängig vom Geld gewesen, hätte es anders ausgesehen.

Lufthansa could have used better colour combinations (eg. the German flag)and could have made the livery look more appealing and vibrant to attract travellers globally..undoubtedly its one of the best airlines in service and livery will not change their customer experience..however since changing the livery is a expensive affair which happens once in decade, Lufthansa should have come up with a modern design..

This is a great video given the circumstances. Well done. The livery reminds of the one of UTA, a French airline that no longer exists. Lufthansa should have kept some yellow. I actually don't like this new livery.
Ja gestern Abend zuerst. Dann heute früh! Hätte nicht gedacht, dass man sie im hellen zu Gesicht bekommt! Dafür gab es 10 Minuten vor Ankunft einen Wechsel von RWY 23 aus RWY 05 was wieder so richtig schön blöd war... Hast also nicht so viel verpasst, es sei denn du hättest in Niendorf gestanden! The continuation of the paint below the tail lends itself well to the new tail shape we are beginning to see.

It’s all a matter of personal view, but we kinda agree to the same thing, it has a feeling that something is missing, and it’s the yellow touch that made Lufthansa so recognizable anywhere, and miles away in the air.... they should have left the yellow touch either in the writing of Lufthansa or somewhere else... I hit the like button for the Queen she is gorgeous...

It's hardly a new livery, but rather a subtle refresh. They could have updated the typeset but they didn't. At least the brassy yellow-gold accents were toned down. I always enjoy flying Lufty.

My initial impression of the dark blue from the tail all the way down to the body of the plane is that it creates some sort of optical illusion making the tail look so huge and tall -- thus, the proportion of this to the entire plane in white now makes the look very tail-heavy; the balance and gracefulness is lost.
Yep for me the tail looks ok but as a complete livery it looks so unfinished and boring!

Very cool you were able to catch it already! I'm now somewhat used to the tail but I think it would look way more classy if the crane was gold. They also could have enlarged the lufthansa-letters the way Swiss did. It just looks so plain and boring like this..

Without the yellow/gold in the livery a huge part of their former identity is lost in my eyes! But I guess most of the customers don't care which leaded to this cheap looking livery!
I like it - Looks clean, elegant & modern . The tail reminds me of the old BOAC back then and that dark blue was also one smart livery until the Brits spoiled it turning into British Airways.
The tail looks alright to me too but the crane in yellow would look better and the all white scheme seems to be very boring to me!
I think this just a temporary livery with the tail scheme disguised with a decal until Feb. 7th, when the full new livery will be shown to the world. They can't be leaving it like this surely?

It's a bit like a blue version of Qantas. But I like it. It looks better without the grey belly - that looked so old fashioned in 2018.
I think it doesn't look like Qantas! The little silver line between the red and the white and the font of Qantas looks way better than this! Indeed it looked old but Lh missed a chance to create a decent livery!
If Qantas eventually flies non-stop into Europe from Australia, maybe we'll see LH fly back into Australia again.
Would be ineresting but I think that won't happen! LH has a pretty strong codeshare partners with Singapore Arilines and Cathay Pacific for flights to Australia and New Zealand!
A good livery. But all aviation enthusiast's will miss the current (soon to be old) one. That never looked boring or dated even in 2018.

Should have maintained the iconic "Yellow" in some form . The obvious place would have been the tail Crane and Circle....Kranach u. Kreis .

I really like it. It's a clean and mature design. The danger of making it too dramatic is that it looks childish and messy, like Air Canada's horrible new livery.

Die Lackierung spricht mich auch gar nicht an! Einfach öde. Immerhin ist das Blau in Ordnung! ^^ Sieht aber nicht groß anders aus als JOON! Wie verblendet muss man sein, wenn man in dem Design Premium erkenne will? Sieht einfach nach Geld sparen aus.
Kann sich Finn immerhin länger auf seine erste Sichtung der neuen Lackierung freuen! Er findet die ja so toll! :D

Eigentlich ein wenig übertrieben nur wegen der Lackierung! Überlege aber das Gleiche! :D Obwohl bei mir liegt das auch an EW! Einfach schade, dass vor Jahren die Basis in LH geschlossen wurde und alle Verbindungen an GWI bzw EW abgegeben haben!
Das war auch mein erster Gedanke mit dem sparen. Finde das Design zwar cool, aber ich glaube, wäre es unabhängig vom Geld gewesen, hätte es anders ausgesehen.

Norges Spottingchannel Looks not original. Even Qantas copied Virgin Atlantic. Yes they should have balanced the colours add more like British Airways if going plain white. Extending the blue beyond the tale like Qantas and keeping the rest all white looks amateurish to be honest.

Das Heck finde ich gar nicht so schlimm! Klar war das Gelb schön, doch der komplett weiße Bereich vor dem Heck stört mich viel mehr!

Lufthansa could have used better colour combinations (eg. the German flag)and could have made the livery look more appealing and vibrant to attract travellers globally..undoubtedly its one of the best airlines in service and livery will not change their customer experience..however since changing the livery is a expensive affair which happens once in decade, Lufthansa should have come up with a modern design..

No the B747-8i of Lufthansa is pretty new! They will fly I guess at least the next ten years for LH!
This is a great video given the circumstances. Well done. The livery reminds of the one of UTA, a French airline that no longer exists. Lufthansa should have kept some yellow. I actually don't like this new livery.

It's a much bolder color but the design is subdued, a bit dull to be honest. It's an okay livery. Not my favorite but not my least.

Ja gestern Abend zuerst. Dann heute früh! Hätte nicht gedacht, dass man sie im hellen zu Gesicht bekommt! Dafür gab es 10 Minuten vor Ankunft einen Wechsel von RWY 23 aus RWY 05 was wieder so richtig schön blöd war... Hast also nicht so viel verpasst, es sei denn du hättest in Niendorf gestanden! Donnerstag hast du ja noch ne sehr gute Chance denke ich!

Das Video ist toll,die 747 elegant wie immer...aber die neue Bemalung ist schon sehr einfallslos.Da wird Lufthansa zu einer 5-Sterne Airline und dann schläft einem beim Anblick der Jets das Gesicht ein...wo ist die gute alte Zeit mit den kreativen Bemalungen geblieben...

Yep indeed! The old Lufthansa livery wasn't maybe the prettiest out there but everyone knew how it looked! That won't be the case with this livery!
They had a chance to make "wow" effect if the crane was yellow for an example, or if they had extra yellow stripe. Honestly, I have a feeling some PR company or whoever, made some amazing BS case and bamboozled them into this... some VP will be sacked ... should be sacked ...
