When I was a little child, just 5 years old, I've discovered something special, something beyond the world I had known. There was a one big championship of 22 single-seaters formula cars racing all around the world with the 22 best drivers behind the steering wheels, racing for for a glory, for a win, for a championship.
The first man who immediately impressed me was a one particular German driver in a red shark - Ferrari. His name was Michael Schumacher and became my big hero through my childhood. I was able to just sit and watch all the races and to follow his greatest steps which started by winning the first championship for Ferrari back in 2000. Then he took another four championship titles and has became a living legend, the best driver in Formula 1 ever, breaking all the past records and with the seven world championships upon his name.
I've never lost my passion for Formula 1 since then, even when he left that world after an amazing 2006 season but with a very sad ending. Obviously I was very excited, very happy and so proud when he announced his comeback with the 2009 champions Brawn GP, bought by Mercedes and with some great people in the team from the past winning era in Ferrari. Unfortunately the winning thoughts disappeared very quickly and it turned out to be the most difficult time in Michael's career. After three years without a single win, only one pole position (which he couldn't even enjoy because of a penalty) and one podium one could say, that it was an unsuccessful comeback. But it wasn't a disaster for him, he didn't care about statistics, he was there to enjoy the racing again, and what's the most important - he enjoyed it, he had a fun and he was happy. In 2012 this fairy tale called "Michael Schumacher" came to its end, as he decided to leave Formula 1 for the second and last time.
Michael, thank you very much for everything you've done in your Formula 1 career, thank you for fantastic memories, thank you for every single race, for every single wave and every single wink to the camera and for every single smile. You wanted to be remembered as a racer, but we'll remember you as a figher and an amazing person as well. Person, who always cared about the others. He never lost his determination, his speed, his joy, his love for racing... and his spirit.
This video is everything what I've ever wanted to tell you about Michael Schumacher, this is my paraphrase of that fairy tale and it's a video, because words are not enough, not in this case. This project was one of the most challenging in my life, to put 21 years into 11 minutes was difficult, so I hope you liked it and enjoyed it. Please feel free to comment and share!

Formula 1 is a world of glamour, passion and excitement. With some incredible stories and tales, many of which have good endings but there are even some sad ones. Only the best of the best can drive those beasts around all the challenging tracks in the world - from Monaco to Suzuka. Legends like Fangio, Clark, Stewart, Lauda, Prost, Senna, Schumacher and Hamilton... just hearing these names gives you "goosebumps"! And only true fans can understand why we sit in front of our TVs from March until November and watch the greatest drivers in the world chasing that championship trophy. It's a long journey, but only a few can achieve their dreams.
Formula 1 is also my big passion. I have followed this sport for more than 20 years. While we may never understand feelings of racing drivers, we, fans, have some special feelings too, when we see our favourites succeeding. And that is something hard to describe as well. Then comes "When Words Are Not Enough" as I try to share my passion and represent all the emotions to you, the fans. To never forget those special moments. There might be a time a even greater driver might appear - but that time has not come yet. Hamilton is a good driver, but overrated. Put him in another team and he will struggle. Mercedes are just too damn good in terms of their car, mechanics, strategists and engineers... Hamilton takes great profit from this. He takes more profit from a superb team than any other driver before.
@@Nairam10 I always wanted to see Lewis in a team that didn't have a Mercedes engine, or joining RoC where everyone has equal cars, but it was clear that it would never happen. I don't think he'll ever have a challenge in his career, and he is certainly not willing to put himself in any categories that would have equal cars for all, as he'd only have something to lose.. This is not to say that he's not a good racing driver, but considering the Mercedes affiliation throughout his career, as well as being beater by less favoured Rosberg and Button, I don't think I could ever rate him in the top 5 unless he wins in another car or on equal footing as others did.
@@mkl_ Well, I can agree. People often misunderstand this and think it is hatred. It is not. We just got no reference to be able to judge his skill. Lewis is a clean driver. They say he`s the cleanest driver ever. The thing is that he doesn`t need to drive overly agressive because he can rely on the best car and the best team. You can`t even drive like that in a second tier car - impossible!
@@Nairam10 During the 2011 season, Hamilton crashed into Massa over and over again, but I'd just consider that a bad season. As you said, though, we will probably never be able to tell whether he's actually a beast or not, as there's no reference other than the "bad seasons" that everyone ignores, while the same people criticise other drivers for having similarly bad seasons in worse cars.
As a recommendation for qualy videos, check out 2012 Monaco and how Schumi managed his pre-penalty pole lap - the onboard and the brake bias changes etc. are something else.

All the emotions, a full blooded racer, ice cold on track but a warm and lovely heart within him.
He had the greatest time of his life everytime he stood on the podium and was so determined to get back up to it after bad weekends.

The day Senna died, I cried myself to sleep, I was 11 years old. Schumi helped through the sadness. The years that followed was the best times of my life watching Formula 1. We are privileged to have seen him race. We saw a legend in the making. In my heart today I cry again, another hero is slipping away. Will always love you Schumi!
I was born too late to see Senna race, I was too young to appreciate Schumi. I didnt start following F1 untill 3 years ago.

Hamilton can only win in the best car, Schumacher won with the Benetton, that his team mate said that the car is a tractor. He had some dirty things, but he got penalty, not like Hamilton getting 5 sec, for knocking out Verstappen. Everyone says, that Hamilton was robbed, but if in Silverstone Verstappen could finish the race, Verstappen could've won the wdc at least 1 race earlier. Hamilton can be 10x champion, in my opinion Schumacher will still be better.

The truth about Schumacher needing his teammates to sign #2 driver contracts so they weren't allowed to beat compete against him on a level playing field has been leaked. His whole first career is based in a lie:

Went to Ferrari (third best team at that moment while having contract proposals from the top teams like Williams and McLaren, but went to Ferrari instead) and became the face of the Italian brand by building his own team and helping mechanics by himself on his own car and giving Ferrari their first F1 titles in more than 20 years!
He did something that no other driver has ever done before and did that TWICE!
If Michael took the “easy” route, he would be a 10+ world champion easily.

1997 Ralf took him out in Argentina? 1998 DC taking him out from the lead in Spa, when Hakkinen had already retired. 1999 if he didn’t have that accident.
If he stayed in Ferrari in 2007, 2008 he would be won another two championships. Michael has been the most talented driver in the last 30,40 years, I only see Max on that level, and Senna close too, but issue with Senna was his fitness and he couldn’t keep his performance up after the first 20/30 laps. 1992 Spain, Senna spins twice trying to catch up to Michael in his rookie year. Senna also tried to jump into great cars not really trying to build everything together, similar to Lewis really. Michael almost finishing runner up in his first full year. The guy was something else.

Schumacher didn't change only F1. He change sports, in general. He was a generation partner with so many great sportsmen. Woods, Ronnie, Loeb, Ahonen, Maier, Miller, Armstrong (at that time), Rossi, Williams and many other hedgemonies. But Michael stands on top, because F1 is such an exclusive sport. The hardest of all. He made it that way. With him, the glamour era of F1 ended briefly. He brought so many new things, beyound records. The way a sportsman has to train, has to speak, has to pay attention to politics of the game. If only just a driver, you might say, he was a role model for generations of people in, i think, every domain of human activity. The will to win, the will to be perfect, the will to go on that edge where you can hurt yourself and others, but you do not cross that thin line. Much more than a driver.

Im 53 and watched F1 since I was 7 y/o. When Murray Walker retired it was tough, like a bereavement. When Michael retired my love of F1 died with it, someone may equal what he did but they'll never be Michael Schumacher.

I my opinion the greatest, most complete F1 driver of all time. Ruthless and a cheat at times but really I think 1:55 shows his true character. His records will be broken but for those of us that were of age when he was at his best, we know he was and is still the greatest. How he drove that 96 Ferrari to three wins? only god knows.

I watched Michael when I was your age and he was and still is my hero. As an Englishman never thought of him as a German just a Legand. Vettel is good guy as well.
@@Cyberball2073 it has to be said, those two were exceptional ambassadors for germans and germany in the international world. and it makes me feel extremely happy to see an englishman "disrepecting the boarders" and seeing through the passport and spot the sportsman - in michaels case, as you say, a legend.

But I believe, Schumi and Senna are gods of motorsport, like Michael Jackson and Freddie are gods of music. All others' are "just champions".

This still feels more complete than the Netflix documentary, which had really great points that gave me chills, but it misses the feeling of this video. If I had a time machine, I would just want to go back and watch this man all over again, and appreciate it more. The world, not just that of F1, is poorer for the loss of his presence since his accident 💛

I was a kid when I first heard the name Michael Schumacher. I've been into motorsports since I was a kid but I've especially been into F1. Just the way he raced was phenomenal
When I was a little kid, we watched Michael with my dad in 2012. I'm not sure, but I think I saw him in person, on pilot parade. When I got older, I started watching his races with Benetton, and Ferrari, and it Amazed me. I admit, he had some dirty things, but he got a correct penalty for them, not like Hamilton with the FIA on his side. Lewis can be 10x champion, I will still think Schumi is the best. #KeepFightingMichael!

The name of Michael Schumacher will always go hand in hand with my childhood, the most ideal period of one person's life. Being a kid and looking up to what he did, you see it differently. I watch F1 now for 25 years with barely 10 missed races in total and I cannot say I hold anyone in such a high regard as I hold him.
Whenever he stepped on the track or spoke, people took notice, people listened. He was sheer power.

My late mother and fathers always loved F1. I loved NASCAR. They are both gone. NASCAR is not what is once was. Mom and Dad LOVED Herr Schumacher. They were fans of F1. That's the only racing I watch now. And Michael is the greatest of them all.
Never liked Schumacher. Hated the guy for always winning. Hated his chin and always wanted him to spin out. However...he may be the greatest driver in history of formula one and is loved and adored by people the world over. This is one race I want Schumacher to win. Don't give up Michael. You're the best.

Just re-watching the tribute after finishing the documentary on Netflix. Michael is truly the GOAT of F1, because he put every bit of himself & his personal life in order to succeed with Ferrari & fulfill the promise of getting a title with Ferrari. He never lost his faith in his abilities. I personally hope that we will see him again one day smiling at his son's achievements in F1. 🙏

today, i will share my story with u : i'm half part German and French, my grandfather was German and Michael was my true hero, My grandfather wasn't amazed by a lot of things but every two weeks we watched grand prix on tv Michael make him so happy ! and thrills us us every time I loved all this shared moments with him Thanks Micheal for everything love and keep fighting my hero ! (like if you want to)
I can't really watch this right now - too emotional. Schumacher was my sporting hero throughout the late 90s and early 2000s. I watched every race of his championship seasons, and enjoyed every minute. Michael has given me more hours of enjoyment than just about any other human being. It's going to be a very anxious wait as so many things hang in the balance.
I don't believe in any God, but if I did I'd sure as hell be praying.

I was born in 1997 and I remember when I started watching F1 in the early 2000's. I was immediately enraptured by those exceptional machines (that looked and sounded almost alien to me) driven by those brave men. As a kid from Italy, Schumacher was obviously my beloved hero. I still remember watching the races after lunch and even early in the morning with my grandpa. My grandpa passed away 10 years ago and Schumi is in very bad conditions and probably will never be back with us again. I havent watched F1 since 2018 because it doesn't excite me anymore, I think the real F1 is basically gone forever. But I'm very thankful for these great childhood memories anyway
