ABOUT CHARLIE'S ANGELS: Intelligent, athletic and streetwise, Sabrina Duncan, Jill Munroe and Kelly Garrett are three highly-trained cops whose considerable crime-fighting
talents were going to waste. But that all changed when mysterious millionaire Charlie Townsend and his assistant John Bosley brought them out of obscurity and into his detective agency. Taking orders from Charlie's disembodied voice, the trio - now known as the Angels - takes on cases where a unique combination of police training and femininity are the keys to success.

Thank you it's been done
Young people don’t realize how huge this show was. Back in the day
Probably because the show is really hokey. Television has advanced quite a bit since the 1970’s
In those days, not “ back in the day!”
Shows were much better back then!! Sad that all that's on tv now is mindless televisionfir the most part. The Kardashians was a hit. That says it all!!
@@LisaHerman1963 Not really. Yes, there are stupid shows today. However, we also have thousands of channels, streaming, etc. Truth, most people today couldn't sit through a show like this today. It is hokey, production values weren't great, characters superficial, effects cheap, fights unrealistic, etc., etc.
@@BW022 Yeah, I suppose it's whatever generation you grew up in. I was a teen in the 70's and perhaps that is why I love these shows so much. It takes me back to when my parents were still alive and me and my friends would all watch Charlies Angels. But it's all we knew, so we loved it. You are right, there are some good shows today. I love Criminal Minds and shows like that. I just hate reality TV. It is so lame and ridiculous! My brother is always watching My 600 Pound Life or Sister Wives, and to me, those shows are so fake. There was a time reality TV was really reality, but now it's so scripted. And horror movies!! OMG they all end exactly the same way 95% of the time. Everybody dies or evil triumphs. What kind crap is that? Oh there are still some good ones, but they are few and far between! I love horror movies, the ones that are paranormal the best, so I will watch a bunch of bad movies to get to a gem. lol But all in all, most of my fave shows and movies come from the 70's and 80's. I guess because those were great times back then to me. :)
Kelly(Jaclyn Smith) taking off the helmet..PRICELESS!!
It was a Man riding the bike up the hill though!
I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Jaclyn. She is beautiful, very respectful to her fans, down to earth, and a real class act. Loved her line at KMart. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Helmet scene,yes!
Iconic!❤
Ode to Rita Hayworth!
Look how young Tommy Lee Jones is in this pilot. The gems you find watching the old shows.
Right?! ❤😊
My husband, may he rest in peace, used to work the swing shift and never got to see any new tv programs, so when he was on a business trip I bought a vhs tape recorder by using our vacation money. I figured he deserved to see new shows more than we needed a week at an expensive hotel and tacky souvenirs.
Charlie's Angels was the first show I recorded for him and also Taxi, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy. Oh, and Dallas, but that show I recorded on a separate vhs tape because it was serial. He really enjoyed watching the new shows.
I was kind of jealous of Charlie's Angels until my sweet husband said he thought I could have been the fourth angel. He was definitely a keeper.
That was sweet of you to do 👏

@TheDodicat And that's a beautifully thought-out sentiment.
Ahhh yes the Farrah Fawcett hairdo--what we all tried to imitate in high school . 😎♥️
Yes and that hairdo was attempted by every race of girl that was in love with that show! But nobody wore it like her!
I was in 8th grade when this came out. That's all anyone talked about on the school bus the next day. We all fell in love with that show. I never missed an episode! To this day it is one of my fave shows of all time!!!
that & 6 million dollar man & Dukes of Hazzard
I was in the 8th grade too and this was my favorite show.
The 3 original Charlie's Angels. Jaclyn Smith was the only Angel who stayed throughout the entire series.
Yes, barely. Her contract expired at the end of what turned out to be the final season and she was not planning to renew it. Had the show returned for a sixth season she would have been gone too and we would have been introduced to a seventh angel.
Jaclyn Smith, with her wholesome Southern charm, calm voice and beautiful cheekbones, was the Olivia de Haviland of the group.
Who?
All three were pretty but Jaclyn was always my favorite.
@@usfanlovesjiwoo1978 LOL, she played Melanie in Gone with the Wind. Her character was really sweet.

They were all standouts!
She made alot of men stand up.
Jaclyn was _my_ standout, but I prefer Brunettes...
Jaclyn Smith was drop dead gorgeous.
And from a very wealthy family, her 21st birthday present was $1,000,000 from her father back in the 1970s.

I went to the same acting school as Kate Jackson in 1986. The President of the school told me when she was a student there years before me, she was late for class and ran into his office with a armful of shopping bags, asking if she could leave them in his office closet, so she could go to class, which he complied. I asked, "What kind of places did she shop?" He replied, "Look for yourself, there still in the closet."
Never the best actress. Sorry.
Sorry; Claudio.
Kate Jackson was the best on the show.
She was not a GREAT actress; but she was the best out of the five.
The other four could NOT act...It was only AFTER the Burning Bed Farrah, was good
and I still think she lost the EMMEY

Hahaha!! REALLY??
Lol, how fun!
Charlie...the voice of John Forsythe. Unmistakable.
There was just something special about growing up in the 70s. Sometimes the nostalgia is overwhelming. Things were far from perfect but times were far better than now. All this technology has devolved humanity in a lot of ways. I say this as I'm posting on an internet site to people around the world using a tablet over wifi. Lol. Even so, if I ever get my hands on a flux capacitor I'm friggin out of here.
The 70s were a great time. I grew up as an adolescence. Great times. Simple times. Oh for those days to come back!
You're not wrong, James. Spot-on. I love my 60" HDTV and 200+ channels, but there is something special abour remembering over-the-air B&W TV viewing from 1966-1984.

The three most beautiful women to ever be on television
Can't argue that statement with any intellect👍😜 Charlie should've gotten busy with them so-called '3 little girls'. More like 3 full grown beauties

I was a freshman in college when this show was a hit. Every Wednesday night at 8pm, the boys’ dorm tuned in to see Kate, Farrah and Jaclyn. It was just what a bunch of adolescent male teenagers needed!
I remember the show most when Cheryl Ladd started. It was an even bigger hit then.

Kate Jackson was the 'intellectual' Angel- and by far the most charming one, imo

@Google User I was going to ask the same question. I always find people who were not born in the era seem to know more about the era
My parents and my grandpa were alive, and I was only 13 and with my family. Yes. life WAS great for me, back then. The men's fashions were gross though. I just...ugh...men's platform shoes...holy moley!!!
Carolyn Nigro “The Before Times” is what it’s called now.
I agree, take me back to the seventies!!!!
Life was definitely better back then. There were morals and 14 year olds weren't into drugs and sex. Families were more cohesive and we were much more innocent!! I remember that people were concerned the way girls dressed and when people cohabited without being married. I remember people were concerned when breast cleavage was shown. There were actual morals and values!! Bring back the 70's!!
HOLY CRAP! I've been watching this show on re-runs for years, and never saw this episode... it's probably the best one they ever made! And a young TOMMY LEE JONES! Wow!
one of the most iconic moments.....the 3 of them walking out of police station, the music, and then John says "my name is Charlie".
45 years ago yesterday this aired! And without Kate Jackson this show wouldn't have even existed. I definitely thank her for making this happen between her, Leonard Goldberg and Aaron Spelling. 🙏
I had always wished she or Jaclyn would have them the favorite. Even though Farrah was all the guy's favorite, Kate was my father's fav. He liked dark hair and eyes.
Without Kate...there would've never been a Charlie's Angels and Farrah, Jaclyn and Cheryl would've been unknowns
I was 10 years old when this show started. Loved Jaclyn Smith. She is as beautiful now as she was then....
Aaron Spelling was brillant beyond words

I was 11 when Charlie's Angels first aired. At that time, I my crush was Jaclyn Smith. As I grew into my late teens, I thought Farrah Fawcett was the one. In my 30's and 40's I became a huge Cheryl Ladd admirer. Now as I watch this, I'm in my 50's, and I'm back to being a Jaclyn Smith fan. There is something special about her southern charm, and her Texas accent.
@phinesia jones

Jaclyn Smith was the best!
I cried my eyes out during the episode when Kelly gets shot, first time I ever cried over a TV show. Watching her get shot was very hard to take for a 10 year old!

@@renealexander2703 I agree Cherly Ladd was the better edition overall an worked out better
But the original stage presecence of these 3 is truly more iconic
No other trio of actresses ever had the phenomenal chemistry that these three ladies had together - on screen and off!!! They just sizzled and when you had any combination of just 2 of them in a scene it was magic but when all three were together - it was something else!!! I think that is why "Angels In Chains" was the most memorable episode because all three ladies were in most scenes together. Especially their escape scenes, when all three were chained to each other, those scenes were divine!! I liked Cheryl Ladd, but sorry - that special palbable magic was not there like it was that first season. The orignal ladies are and will forever be the BEST and ONLY "Charlie’s Angels” for me and I think I speak for the majority of my fellow Gen Xers who watched this show as kids circa 1976-1977.
anthony bucci, not true. Most people that I know prefer Cheryl Ladd and they prefer Cheryl Ladd, Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson. They were pure magic and will forever be the BEST of "Charlie's Angels" for many of us.

His acne scars never slowed down him becoming an icon.
I know! I didn't expect to see him in this pilot! I wonder if he ever talks about it - seems like he takes himself too seriously now to want to talk about those old days.
He was nervous during filming but it didn't show on screen ...
They must have filled in the acne scars because his skin looks pretty good here.
The theme is so memorable

I didnt realize how much i missed it until i heard it again after so long.
In 1976 my sister went to the Preview House on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, where they used to test audience reactions. I asked her what she saw, whereupon she said she saw a pilot for a new TV series called, “Charlie’s Angeles. How was it I asked, “it was very good,” she answered.
That was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be.

Same here. I appreciate her more now watching the show again when it was airing on ME. Kelly seemed to have the most interesting and “tragic” backstory. I never cared for Farrah tho not then not now but may she RIP. I appreciate Kate Jackson more than i did when i was a kid and I have always liked Cheryl Ladd (Kris) too.
I saw Jaclyn in person at a taping of Donnie and Marie in 1978. She was stunningly beautiful.
Kate Jackson was mine. She was beautiful in Scarecrow and Mrs King
When i was little, i used to think that BOSLEY was CHARLIE hee hee! (still love the show, and it certainly brings back childhood memories to me!)
No, but Higgins WAS Robin Masters. 😁
And Charlie, Bosley, Higgins and Masters were all Mr. Bloodhound, of the Bloodhound Detective Agency. That's why he was never there.
You’re not the only one, many did and they weren’t little kids.
All three of these women had natural beauty.
As a preschooler, I was enchanted by Farrah's wheat-colored locks and megawatt smile. I just thought she was the prettiest lady!
I remember I couldn’t wait until the new T.V guide came out to see what the new episode was about! I still miss the old digest format! I was totally destroyed when I read Farrah was leaving the show! My sister had all the Charlies Angel dolls and the Farrah and Cher dolls!
Wanna hear something weird? During the summer of 1976 before the weekly series premiered, my local station was showing a Mod Squad episode where Julie (Peggy Lipton) is accidentally shot by an autistic boy. The episode is titled Cricket. A few months later, a new Charlie's Angels episode was broadcast that COPIED the plot with a few variations here and there. Then it occurred to me -- both are Aaron Spelling properties so they just copied from themselves.
OMG!!! I loved the TV guide!!! I would sit there and read it!! I miss them too
Back when TV was great.
Make tv great again. 😁
Back when it was great and not politically charged.
@@badgerden7080 Yes, this! ⬆️⬆️⬆️
This is why i stick to my classic channels!
Back when Charlie's Angels actually was great for that matter. I come here just to wash that HORRIBLE 2019 film from my memory.
I suppose no one remembers Kate Jackson also played in the TV show "The Rookies" a series about 3 young male police officers. Her role was as Jill Danko and her husband Mike, Sam Melville, was one of the three rookie cops. Michael Ontkean and George Stanford Brown played the other two rookie cops. That show was out in the early 70's before Charlies Angels hit the scene.
You forgot the sergeant Gerald S. O'laughen (sp?)
we all remember
Bruce Fairborn replaced Michael Ontkean in the last season.
Kate Jackson also played in "Dark Shadows"
I'll have to check that show out.
I really enjoyed her in the 80's t.v. show Scarecrow and Mrs. King.
Farrah and I shared a great grandmother, so we were fourth cousins. I didn't know that when I was 17. I was in love with her like all my friends. We all had her poster! I try to watch everything she's in. My favorite roles for her were in Logan's Run, Saturn 3, and The Apostle.
I fell in love with Jaclyn Smith 😍❤️❤️
But I had The Farrah Fawcett poster too😉
they were all so young and beautiful-- Farrah was on every wall in the college dorms -- the mens of course lol
Wrong!
Women too. Bet your body aged but you’ve still got a 70’s brain.
@@YowzaBowzaWowza I've got some bad news for your wife....
And a few ladies also no doubt. Rog. Pacific sunset records.
1976 "There were 3 little girls ". That would NEVER fly today. Lol
Yep, that caught my attention too ☺. And Kate, Jaclyn, and Farrah were, at the very least, in their late 20s when they started this show.
You know it. lol
Yeah. Too much political correctness bull crap.
Yeah people are so SENSITIVE now days with words.
The fall on the ground sound effects are hillarious.
Wow I had no idea the old Charlie's Angels was this suspenseful 👀
Farrah Fawcett is my favorite Angel.... RIP!!!
I remember when i always wanted to know who Charlie was with that voice
You know at the time, they never publicized who the voice of Charlie was when the show originally ran. They wanted to keep it a mystery. It took me a YEAR AND A HALF to realize it was John Forsythe!! The voice was familiar, but I had to go 6 years back in my memory when I used to watch his 1970 CBS sitcom To Rome With Love to realize it was John!!
Ladd replacing Fawcett without question was so much pressure on her but she proved that she had talent besides beauty.
@Sebastian Sutton I gotta agree with you. I enjoyed the others over kate.
I also read that the ratings went up w/ Cheryl Ladd joining in season two.
Jaclyn Smith is the real beauty of the trio!
I always felt that the season with Smith, Ladd and Hack was the best season.
I met Farah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith. Two of my childhood crushes!
The late John Forsythe was the unmistakable voice of Charlie Townsend, the Angel's mysterious unseen boss.
He is best remembered for his role as Blake Carrington in the 1980's TV Soap "Dynasty".
I used to love Dynasty, and its spinoff show, "The Colbys."
Funny, I just mentioned hopw with the help of Aaron Spelling, John Forsythe was still arch enemy to Bo Hopkins - in a different tv show.
At the time, they did not publicly announce WHO the voice of Charlie was. He sounded really familiar but I could not name him. It took me a YEAR AND A HALF to figure out it was John Forsythe. I went back 6 years and remembered him in the 1970 CBS Sitcom The Rome With Love.
Bachelor Father too.
@@notmebutyou8350 , me too.
Farrah played tennis 🎾like a professional!
WOW! This show was so simple back then. No ridiculous hardcore missions, just a detective case, they have improved a lot over the years in terms of handling bigger assignments and missions.

I love Bo Hopkins! He always reminded me of Jerry Reed.
Until your comment I thought it was Jerry Reed! I always get the Jerry Reeds mixed up with Jimmy Dean...
Bo Hopkins always reminds me of James Dean, I really think he purposely tried acting and imitating James Dean.
I always mixed them up too. There were a lot of lookalike actors back then!
I dated Bo's cousin in high school. He looks a lot like Bo.

I use to watch the summer when I turned 13. I remember I wish I had their hair . 😍
I was a de hard fan I was 10 yrs old when the series premiered back in 1976 & 15 when it was cancelled in 1981. I had the Charlie's Angels dolls, bubble gum cards, board game & every magazine featuring them (not always as a trio).I am black & even tried to style my hair like Farrah Fawcett, I had the style down pat unfortunately I lacked the swing.Lol. However Kate Jackson was my favorite, I recall watching it with my grandmother whose name was Kate & Kate Jackson was her fave as well, I wonder why?Lol.Aww, what memories.
I was a die hard fan also seeing women in action was atrhrilland exciting.
Ie njoyed watching seeing the Angels in action every week.
@Alejandro Ascencio
Hello.
This television show really inspire me as an teenager. I can be whomever I want to be like an angels but only one things , I do not have wings!
I remember myself and a bunch of other 12yr old boys at school arguing over which of them was the most fancible, with each of us believing we were the upmost authority on such things being real men of the world and all that :-)
I actually had all 3 action figures of Kate, Kelly and Jill! And who remembers the bubblegum cards with the stickers? What a simple time. ❤
I still have those cards, just needed three cards to finished
Ed
Yes, good times...
Do you remember when we only had _two_ genders?
I didn't feel poor but isn't it so enriching to have 37 genders now, and counting...
@@dududu5189 and what does that have to do with old toys and bubblegum? you may not like today's words but people were gender non-conforming long before the 70s.

Isn't there a village that's missing you, somewhere..?

Charlie's angels my all time favorite show of all. Grew up watching it still love it.
Charlie's Angels was the best TV show better than Charlie angels movie 2020.
