  • Hey Hunters,
I'm back after a little acting hiatus, diving into all things ancient and baffling.
Let me know if you have any information or theories about the structures that were found in the Stonehenge Car Park??
    Happy Hunting

A few years ago they surveyed the whole area around stonehenge, they found another henge very close buy and numerous other items of interest including what they think was proof of a massive wooden fence. Basically archaeology has literally just scratched the surface there.

Even today people will char wooden timbers to create creosote, a natural wood preservative. This is especially beneficial for wooden posts that are in contact with the ground.

From the photo, they *look* equally spaced, and looks like they're forming the circumference of a circle. It'd be interesting to calculate the centre, and the remaining spots, where posts could be, and do a bit of digging where those spots are.
My guess is that it's a wall.

I got my 34 yo son a title and deed for Yule last year. He thought it was really cool. We can trace our ancestry to our many times great grandmother that was a Wallace from Ayrshire that married a Caldwell from Ireland. It also happens that we currently live on Ayrshire road in rural Oklahoma.

You know that you aren't really getting a title, right? They are lying about that part; if they are really planting trees, then that is the only good thing they are doing. But I heard even that part is shady
This scam is like when people buy a star to be named after them. Makes no sense; you literally just spent money on so your son could say "I have a title," when he could've already just said that. The government doesn't recognize that he has a title at all

So now we know the answer to what is so special about the location of stonehenge. It was in the middle of a big field instead of the surrounding forest which is great if you're building structures to use the sun and planets to mark the passage of time for various purposes such as planting and ritual that give life meaning and a sense of stability and rhythm.

Thanks for bringing all this stuff to life! Maybe I missed an episode about this, but when you talked about those "Chickasaur" eggs being eaten 47,000 years ago in Australia, I was thinking you might dive deep into the crazy fact that actual humans got on boats 47,000 friggin years ago to get there! So basically somebody was navigating the South Pacific tens of thousands of years before "our" "civilization" began...

Saw a doc about Stonehenge some years ago which had reference to those post holes. They were part a a larger circle. They did a 3D computer representation of the whole henge showing the wood to stone stages. There was also another smaller wooden one some ways away near a river and a processional pathway from one to the other. It may have been on Discovery or History TV channel, but not sure of that.

Congratulations on the acting gig! How is that ring working for you? One thing about the parking lot over those spots. It actually helps preserve the artifacts. Water drains away instead of seating down. The bad part, of course, is they are limited to excavation untill the parking lot is relocated. Yes I'm American, parking lot not car park.

The post marks in the car park were there when I visited in 1984. Looking at current satellite imagery - the old car park is now gone - replaced by a bus turn around area, for the shuttles that take you from the new car park (1.36 miles [2.18 km] West). They seem to have covered up the markings for these post holes from the old car park, sadly.

If you'd like to do more on Stonehenge, maybe do one about how it was reconstructed between 1903 and (I think) the 1950's? Not just the facts about it but what meausres they took to ensure they got it right.
As an example, in Abu Simbl, modern engineers with all their tech and equipment moved the temple and got the alignment wrong, so now they have a laser light to emulate the winter solstice. They SAY it's so they can show tourists what it is like but in truth they messed it up and now the sun doesn't shine all the way in.
I can't help but wonder how much effort they put into lining up Stonehenge, given the orthodox resistance to it being anything other than primitive a worship site.
