The bottle is the EG Reparation bottle they made for the Soviet Union.... worth getting if you are a Red Army Reenactor as it is closer to the Red Army pattern rather than the later Soviet era bottle. Regarding the Felt cover, if you find photos or drawings taken from a photo of NVA in The Grey Winter FDA they can show a grey water bottle cover, my thoughts was it was part of winterising of personal equipment maybe..... the practice was not carried on it seems, maybe it was a permitted private purchase item for Winter Field Dress Regulations? ..always interesting to find this useless information out .
I bought a bunch of the Strichtarn NVA canteens. It was a bunch deal like Six for $10 USD. I'll have to look if they have the extended strapping for the Bread Bag. I also have several that are coated with 1/2'' of foam over the plastic water bottle, and have an old school crossed [fake leather] suspension. with Snap clip on top and long strap with bottom stud. The Bottle, Cup and Strapping are close shades of Olive Drab. The Cup is identical but olive, not gray. Winter version? Another thing I noticed was a pronounced ''fishy'' smell they all had.
I can't wait for your UTV video!! When i started collecting EG stuff back in the 90's I didnt realize at the time that what i was getting was UTV equipment. Even my bdu's are UTV. EG must have been very close to distributing UTV equipment as there use to be so much of it available since the 90's.
Great video! I have a canteen that is vary similar to the last type you show in the video but it has some carrying straps on it, the only info I could find is that it was a medical canteen.
Love these gear variant videos. What's odd though, my strichtarn canteen is the latest variant you had shown, except my bottle doesn't have the chain part of the molding. Perhaps it's a minor later change? Keep up the videos!
Interesting! I'd imagine there was some overlap to use up variants of the earlier bottle mouldings. Another variant I will have to pick up at some point.
I have a medical canteen as well but it is in the early style with the felt grey cover and a red cap. Very feint MdI marking inside. Has the shoulder strap and is larger in capacity. I have a substancial NVA medical collection myself and haven't seen the medical version in rain drop pattern, another item I'll have to convince my wife I absolutely need.
This design of bottle and carrier is not very easily accessible, but is that deliberate ? I've heard that in the past, some armies had procedures where by things such as taking a drink could only be done when ordered etc. Also. I suppose it stops soldiers drinking when they feel like at a time when their concentration should be elsewhere. Or maybe it's just a bad idea !
I can never find an EG M10 adaptor cap for use with the M10 mask. As a substitute I have a Soviet drinking bottle with the adaptor cap wich unfortunately has horrible quality rubber that by now is deteriorated. It fits with the M10. I would love to find an EG NBC canteen cap

I wonder if there ever was any transitional bread bags made from strichtarn material. Would be cool looking.
I would pay money for that. Even for a custom made one
@@Rokaize The idea does tickle my no-no square.

Really looking forward to the UTV gear. Very interesting set

They could be bought in camping shops as well, that is also why you find those rubbish DDR bread bags that break instantly if used.
