FF1600 Onboard - Thruxton (HD)

Watch Josh Barnett battle with FF1600 stalwart Ed Moore in the 2010 Ian Taylor Trophy. After retaking the lead, just three corners after losing it, Josh streaked away to win by over six seconds - his first overall victory. Awesome video! I'm thinking of building a little car similar to one of these. How fast can you get them going? I was thinking of getting like a Yamaha R1 engine for it or something like that.

Well, these have to comply with Formula Ford 1600 regulations so the chassis is built to accept the Ford 'Kent' 1600cc engine. At Thruxton (where we run slightly higher gearing) we were hitting around 135-140mph. If you want a motorcycle engine race car, have a look at Formula Jedi. They run 600cc Honda engines, but they are much, much quicker than a Formula Ford.
