Just another topic that I think would benefit the reputation of Calgary. We are rated the #3rd cleanest city in the WORLD, behind Copenhagen and Singapore. I had relatives from Australia here for a couple weeks and they couldn't believe how clean Calgary is, couldn't stop talking about it, I was proud of that.
NE Calgary is not too bad. It has some issues but it is relatively safe. The LRT safety and security is improving. Most of the time. You also get the odd street racing driver and some other noise. Most of the problem happens to be on the weekends Fridays and Saturday nights, but are dealt with by the police service. I live in the pineridge area. Though I am aware of my surroundings I keep my eyes open.
Perfect description of the NE. I live in Whitehorn and actually love watching the planes but hey, that's just me. I never smelled jet fuel but I'm about 10 minutes from YYC. There seems to be more cons than pros and you're right. I can't argue that. It's still not near as bad as it's made out to be but the NE is a huge area and I think people not familiar with Calgary don't realize that. Calgary is HUGE and the largest city in Canada, area wise. My parents live in Deer Run and oh geez, there are some run down houses there...ugh!
Yeah it’s a huge area so it’s not easy to generalize it. I was golfing at Wingfield which is super close to the runway and we could smell the fumes, but we were very close to it.
@@ryangillardrealtor Too funny, my husband golfs and said he never heard of Wingfield. It's only 5 km from us...hahaha, we've lived here for 20 years! Too funny, even native Calgarians can learn something knew about their town :)
I Lived In the North East Before i toke the lrt to Barlow Max bell Station then toke route 33 on the bus in the future in the north East LRT Spose to go to 88 Avenue north east, Country Hills, 128 ave north East, Stonegate. i had a hit and run by a drunk driver when i was in a Cab in the North West the driver was never found
It does but they are actually very peaceful and friendly people and make great neighbours. I think with the crime associated with the countries you mention gives them all a bad name. It's really sad and gang related violence in Calgary is indeed due to mostly religious clashes within these groups. I do know most immigrants from the countries you mentioned are furious about being able to live in one of the most cleanest and tolerant cities in Canada, yet the "bad apples" make them look all look bad. Source: I live in Whitehorn and my Sikh neighbours told me this verbatim.
@@jane-marie3289 Well there’s record numbers of them now and they don’t want to assimilate. I’d rather live in a cohesive community than pay over 500k to live in a Balkanized community of cultures who don’t mesh with Western values.
@@Flames_Fan6 Ok, I completely understand that and agree. It's horrific and problematic and if crime rises I too will leave. I get your mindset, I want to be able to walk outside at night without worry about being shot because I'm white or in the wrong place and the wrong time. It does scare me and gang violence has risen, so I'm with you on that,

Yeah that could definitely be a topic
We will be moving from Sydney between May and July next year. So far Strathmore, Cochrane and Chestermere have caught our attention.

Why do you want to move from Australia to Canada

Yes for sure. The stigma is exaggerated for the most part.
Monterey park is a great area big houses. Also you can get on any major road quickly 16th Stoney get downtown quickly
Yeah I've always thought it was one of the better areas in the NE.

Yes there are plans to expand it
Airplane noise is just as bad in the south even communities in Willow park and Acadia.
Too many non-integrated immigrants, feels like India, Pakistan or Somalia sometimes
Yes it can feel like a foreign country
