I think that from Hoka this goes more similar to the Mafate Speed 4, which has an excellent Vibram outsole. The latest Speedgoat is too firm for long distance comfort, and the Tecton is really more performance oriented.
i dont have XU3, but have the XU2 in size uk10(305g), and powerrunPB is really comfortable. I had 10k test run, then full sent in the ChiangMai UTMB 100K, and my leg really felt good at finish line (i did have SG5 in my dropbag access at 67K, but i didnt feel the need to swap shoe). The course was mostly dry so i didnt have the slippy-grip issue, even at crossing small river/waterpath. Maybe on warm condition the grip became better? i dont know
@@fraac the utmb race was covering from DoiInthanon to DoiSuthep/DoiPui ChiangMai. you'll be fine following the strava heatmaps. Komoot marking will be a lil adventurous, as some ppl really go path less travelled. i have not run or race in other region of thailand
Good, fair review. They are comfy but the grip on wet rock is truly awful 🙈 (I'm glad it's not just me) I did the Lakeland trails 55km in them this year and I was slower going down the early tech descents than going up... It was terrifying and my poles took a real battering that day... Easy, dry, compacted terrain, summer shoe as Tommy says 👍
Yeah. Sauconys outsoles has always been utterly horrible. Their road racers aswell. They just cant mix rubber blends. Their exodus 4 will have vibram megagrip.. at last. Cause their last, foam, uppers etc are usually top notch. Might be the best shoe company but the outsole ruined alot.
Great review! As a Saucony fan of the first Xodus version, I really appreciated this one.

Lots of hints from the asics trubeco max line
What material is powerrunPB?
