  • This is round 3 of the 2002 Chevy Trucks 125cc Motocross Championship from High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, PA. This is the 1st of only 6 125cc Motocross races from 2002 that I have.
Returning 125cc contenders like rookies Billy Laninovich, James "Bubba" Stewart, Eric Sorby, and (125cc East SX champ) Chad Reed, former 250cc riders Larry Ward, Damon Huffman, and 5-time Arenacross champ Buddy Antunez, 125cc Sophomores Grant Langston and Steve Boniface, Branden Jesseman, Greg Schnell, Brock Sellards, 250cc Supercross rider Ernesto Fonseca, Michael Byrne, 125cc West SX champ Travis Preston, Chris Gosselaar, Matt Walker, and defending champ Mike Brown battle it out for the 2002 Chevy Trucks 125cc AMA Motocross Championship. This is Chad Reed's lone full season, and Ernesto Fonseca's last season in the 125cc class. Runner up in the series, Grant Langston does not make the trip to High Point due to an injured knee, which requires surgery and knocks him out for the next 7 rounds. Points leader James Stewart, Jr. crashes in practice, twisting his own knee, and decides to wait until the last possible moment to determine whether or not he can race. This race marks Chad Reed's lone 125cc National win of his very short 125cc career, and the very first time an Australian citizen wins an American Motocross National.
    Enjoy.

It's probably because of the speed I used -- EP -- as I said, I made this blank DVD from a DVD/VCR machine.

Keep in mind that 2002 was James Stewart, Jr.'s rookie season, and this season was young, too -- only round 3. I was thinking it'd be another Brown/Langston battle, but both guys wound up injured and had their National seasons ruined, and it turned into the James Stewart show. Unfortunately, luck didn't agree with Chad Reed half the time, and had he not popped his shoulder out in the first moto at Southwick, I don't think Stewart would have been champion.

Surprised to hear that from you about Stewart. I have to admit that Jesseman was just beginning to hit his stride after he won the Pontiac 125cc Supercross finale, and it took him a bit to consistently hit the podium. One might find it surprising that Jesseman tied Reed for 2nd place in the series, but never even won a moto at all.

@@chriswright1270 Lucky you. Well, Jesseman was injured pretty often very early in his pro career. I don't think it was until 2000 that those injuries stopped (not for good).
Overall, Jesseman had a decent career winning the 125cc East SX title in 2003 for Team Suzuki, but after that was when the injuries started piling up again.

@@chriswright1270 Well, Jesseman was pretty injury-prone early on as a pro (as I'd mentioned in my last reply).
After 2003 was when I felt Jesseman fell off the radar when he broke his thumb before the 125cc East/West Shootout, injured his arm before Millville, etc.
Though Jesseman did rebound to win the 2007 Orlando Lites Supercross, that was basically the last of his success stories (save for one season under Pro Circuit Kawasaki in 2008).
