Hi there! Your caption caught my attention as I absolutely love textured fabric paper. Now I can make some of my own thanks to you!!!! Your details where perfect and easy to follow. And the best part is enjoying biblical scripture in the mist of your video. Have a blessed day!!!
Awe!!! Thank you for your kind words and for sharing love! I hope this process blesses you and you create lots of lovely projects!! 💗💗💗
Hello Ingrid, how are you doing? I started doing this technique about four months ago and I am hooked on it.
I do not use any type of oil because I have read comments about this technique and some people have said that over time the cooking oil causes the paper to mold and have a smelly odor. Now, I am not sure if the paper were not allowed to dry properly or what. I am not an expert on this technique, at all.
I have only tried this technique using magazine images.
One tip that I will give is to fold the four corners in before wadding up the paper. This will help to eliminate some, not all, of the tears. To me, the tears add character to the fabric but not to where the tears take away from image.
I do encourage anyone who finds this to be interested to try it. It is really fun and relaxing. Plus, it adds another tier to our crafting🙂💜.
That is such great information…THANK YOU! Do you use hand lotion? Or are you using a starch? I agree with the tearing adding g characters but that is an amazing tip for those that don’t. Do you share your work online? Hugs!! 💗💗💗
Love this concept. Will be trying it tomorrow on some cardstock that I wished was fabric. Thank you for the video! ❤
Turned out so cute! Loved the stitching that you added! Going to have to try!! Thank you! ❤
Thank YOU so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! 💗💗💗
really cool Ingrid! thanks for showing us this fun technique to add texture to our creations!
You’re so welcome Robin!!! 😘🥰
I love making the paper into fabric! I have some beautiful pieces made for my junk journals a while back that I have been setting aside for some winter projects.
I bet they are gorgeous! Winter project are my favorite!! Although I don’t know that I have restraint to save pieces 😂 thank you so much for your comment!! 💗💗🫶🏼

New Subbie! I'm so glad I found your Channel! This is such a Brillant idea! ~🙏💙🙏Much Graditude From The Carolinas🙏🙏~
I use paper bags, but no liquids or creams, for covers to my vintage journals. It looks like leather. For my last layer, I use either brown acrylic paint or shoe polish it to give it definition. I then mod podge it to seal it and it looks fantastic!!!
Awesome tip Helen! Thank you so much for sharing! I bet they are just beautiful!! I will definitely have to try!! 💗💗💗
Such lovely results. I tried this once but my hands couldn’t cope with the friction or something, maybe it was the oil I used. I should use gloves! 💡Paper is just amazing, I luv it! Loved what you did with them!
Thank you!!! You are right! I tried it out with some hand cream and I think I like that a lot better! It was less messy and left the smelling really nice. 💗
Hi Ingrid, hope your day is crafty fun 😊
Awe! Thank you Kimberly!! The same right back atcha! 😘🫶🏼
Thank you! I loved this so much. I learned so much watching this.
Oh I am so happy! Enjoy making your new cloth! You’re going to be hooked! 💗🫶🏼 Thank you for your kind words!!
Great idea, never saw this before but I'm wondering what a long term effect this will have on the paper and the embellishments, let's say a year later ??? Will the oil create brown spots ???
Same question
Yeah that concerns me as well! I did try it out with some hand lotion and I think I like that better. There was less residue if any at all and it smelled nice 💗
Mb was here yes I will try it
So happy to have you and you probably didn’t know this…I love nicknames!! So happy to have you Mb and thank you for your kindness 💗💗💗
I wonder if you could use cooking spray?
I don’t see why not, the only negative that comes to mind is the possible overspray? Otherwise, great idea! 💗
Ingrid Carlsen, I liked this video because it's awesome!
AWEEEE! 🫢🥹😭 when I saw your comment come up on my notifications. It just had the letter B and so I thought it was going to say “I like it, but… so imagine my glee when it said…because!! That is so sweet thank you so much!! But YOU’RE the AWESOME one!! 💗💗💗
I saw this with olive oil, but i think i will try with conditioner not only to aviod mold but will add pleasant smell
I totally agree! I did it with the hand cream (in a video I posted last night if you want to take a peek) and it smells so nice. It didn’t have any residue! 💗💗💗
This is a great technique. Could you use tissue paper?
I’m gonna go out on the limb and say yes since it’s going to be similar and texture from the “rice paper, from Daiso) that I did. That is a great idea!!! 💗🫶🏼
PRETT NEAT PROJECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do take care. Fl.
Thank you!! Hope you try it out! Thank you for taking the time to comment 🥰💗🫶🏼
This is a very interesting technique. I don’t think my arthritic hands could handle squeezing the paper for 15 minutes. Has anyone come up with an alternative method for squeezing the paper? Thank you. Love you and may God bless you today.
I wondered the same thing…..
This looks really fun! Just curious how long you let it dry before you sewed the inner liner on it?
Yes it does take a toll on your hands. I wonder if you could use a rolling pin? Crumble it roll it, repeat? I’m gonna have to do some digging on that one! i’ll come back if I have any findings 💗🫶🏼
I let the paper dry for about 3 hours, but I recommend letting it dry overnight. As you could see some of the oil was seeping through the file folder. 💗💗💗
Also they said ink should be indelible/ permanent to avoid bleeding
Yeah that makes total sense! I did get an idea that I want to try soon…so stay tuned 💗
