I’ve been lucky. I’ve had the same snapon man for almost 30 years. I’m no longer on his route, I call him and he ships the tools to my house and I mail him a check. A true friend and businessman.

My father was a Snap on man for 35+ years and he had a following of customer friends no longer on his assigned route who kept in contact and did business the same way. Many came over to his house.
what they mean is life time warranty if you keep spending shit loads of money on the truck, otherwise its only under warranty if they feel like it

I fear you are laboring under the illusion that your tool dealer cares what you do or who you call. They are business owners. They don't have a boss to yell at them and sure don't care what your opinion is. Thats why they can get away with stuff like that. Corporate doesnt have any power to force franchisees to do anything.

If you told him to come by because you was thinking of ordering a new box he would have came. My local rep is the same as yours. Most shops in town have ban him from their property. He has gone almost broke because of his poor service. He's a weiner...

I bought the MATCO rivet gun and it broke after one year. MATCO said the life time warranty lasts only one year. I'm not the only technician who has purchased this piece of junk. The MATCO rep has offered to sell a new rivet gun.
Fun to go back and see some of the stories you and Matco Michael talk about. He sure did have a grave to dig himself out of LOL.

I used to buy major amounts of Matco Tools. My tool box is Matco and is very heavy made. Unless corporate Matco has changed, I’ve never had an issue with my dealer. A lot depends on how long and how successful the dealer is. My dealer has been in business for about 30 years and everything from his truck to his inventory is paid for. Matco and Snap-On will mortgage young bucks houses to put them in a tool truck. Snap-On even has a real estate dept. to handle the houses they’ve got in hock from young dealers who went belly up. The tool business is a great way to make a million dollars provided you spend 2 million... The Matco guy here is stable. Now, Snap-On guys come and go like women change their underwear. If you’re broke before you start the tool business you don’t stand a snowball’s chance in Hillary’s eternal home of making it.

Its a self inflicted wound. The tool distributor running the truck route is going out and under for many reasons because of many problems because he does not provide good service, and does not provide good service because he is going out and under because of many problems. I had a few such colleagues and competitors during my own long run of 30+ years. There was one whose mirrors and glass got broken and tires slashed as fast as he repaired damages before he quit. Another who once was parked along side the road between stops in the middle of nowhere so I stopped to see if he was okay and not injured or in other distress. As I approached from the front of the truck saw him slumped over the steering wheel. He jumped up when I knocked on the door and reassured me he was fine. He quit shortly after. Toolmen are human beings too dealing with all sorts of business and personal issues like customers too. Sometimes they are overcome by the darkness, and sometimes they overcome the darkness. God bless and keep y'all and do your best to do what's right.
Matco has never even came to our heavy duty diesel shop in the 13 years that I have worked here. The stupid part is that the matco guy does visit automotive shops within a 1/2 mile of us. For whatever little bit of matco our mechanics have, they have meet the matco guy at another shop to get warranty (but nobody is buying new from him). Cornwell had been without route driver for years, but I have heard that a new guy will be starting soon. But that being said, Snap On and Mac Tools have been serving us well (same route guys the whole time I have been here).
+Ford Truck Guy that is good you have the same guy for that long. I think matco is more geared towards cars than hd stuff anyways.

My Matco dealer got hired at our shop as a tech. Man it's going to be very hard for him to get out of that franchise. I have a ton of Matco sockets that need to be warrantied and everyone I've spoken to from Matco has basically fucked me right off because they don't want to come into our shop now. I will never buy anything Matco ever again. Literally every socket, ratchet and impact I have purchased from them has broke within a few months of the purchase. Bend over for the warranty!
Geoff Clark i hate that for you that sucks ! Maybe you can convert everything over to Snap On. One thing I can say is they stand behind what they sell. That seems to be typical for MATCO from what I’ve heard from others.
Koon Trucking, Yep, got everything Snap-on now. Still want to get the Matco tools warrantied though. I purchased my own service truck this fall. Would be nice to put them in there. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Our local Matco dealer rocks. He is service oriented and ran a tractor dealer service shop for many years. He has a really nice selection. Sorry yours sucks. We had a SO dealer for years like that so I can relate to your frustration.
Call Matco and they will send a replacement head for it.I have read on Facebook a couple guys that did this and Matco sent the replacement to them.
Our Matco guy pissed me off the first time we ever met. He managed to do the same with the rest of the shop until no one would deal with him. Last I knew a woman had taken over his route and word is no one cares much for her either. Fortunately we have a good Mac guy.
I jave had insane problems with matco the quality an warranty as of 12/13/2020 my matco dealer has had mt 1/4 inch electric ratchet for over a month an it took me 2 weeks for him to take it for warranty. I paid almost 400 for the tool an it was not functioning properly after 6 months due to poor material used on the ratchet head. Definetly stick with Cromwell or snap on all my battery power is now milwaukee.
That’s the reason why I don’t even deal with our snap on guy

The second shop I worked at in Feb 2020 their Matco dealer resigned from the business. His wife had cancer. Never got the chance. Snap-on guy there did business with there and another shop. It was alright.
Current shop I'm about to leave from. We got a new Matco guy and he has been nothing but awesome. I'll miss doing business with him. Most of the techs who avoid tool trucks and go for other places for tools. Or had a bad experience with the quality of Matco swore never to buy from them again. But of course almost all of them have bought a thing or two from Bobby (Matco).
Now the current Snap-on dealer they have is a d*cc. Tried to start up a business relation with him. Blew me off. He has only one guy who buys from him. Only comes around when the tech needs him. Another tech who has Snap-on tried to buy from him. Blew him off too. So Matco has gotten the advantage there.
The one that runs the Tupelo area is the same way. Sorry and crappy. If u want buy something. First question is well how much u gone pay a week. Every one quit buying from him at our shop. He will stop at TAG truck shop and not even check up when he pulls out. We are all SNAP-ON. Plus we have a so so MAC guy.
D MCCORD yeah I’m done with matco also ! I wouldn’t buy anything as long as our guys is selling it. We have Cornwell and snap On. Our Cornwell guy mr joe services Tupelo area if he doesn’t come by you should call him. You will like him a lot ! Tell him I sent ya !

I had Mac tool truck come by the shop I worked at and stop coming around I was at Sears buying tools when I saw him he asked why I wasn't buying tools from him i told him my ma
I tried for 3 months to get the Matco guy to stop by our shop ,even tho 95% of our work is welding and fabrication we still need hand tools . I called the snap on rep 2 times then he finally showed up been doing business every since. he shows up every Friday like clock work and he always has cold drinks can’t complain.
Man I’ve had that ratchet for about 4 years and it’s pretty good. Unfortunately I haven’t seen a matco rep in 2. Hope mine don’t break!

Dude I had the 3/8 ratchet like that and it got to where it wouldn’t lock. It took about 3 weeks to come in but he warrantied the whole thing. Brand new ratchet. Hell I tore up a pair of Long needle nose and warrantied them last week no questions. He even warrantied them with a pair of knipex he had on the truck. A way better set of pliers. Dude I put a gear wrench ratchet wrench in the damn press and broke the ratchet side just to see if he would warranty it. He did! And I kept the old one. Matco and my rep have been good to me. Sorry your experience isn’t like mine.
Bryan Bethea I’m glad you have a good dealer. Unfortunately our dealer is a joke. I always said from the beginning that it isn’t the company or the tool, Hell they will all break eventually that’s why we buy name brand tools, it’s all about the dealer if he will stand behind what he sells or not. That’s the single reason why I don’t have any matco tools is because of the dealer. I’ve said many times my matco DEALER sucks I’ve never said Matco tools suck.

Yeah, recently I had to cut my 19mm long ratchet off a bolt just to not have it stay on a vehicle. By the way, I even tried air hammer, torch, etc. before cutting it.... The box side spread and the claws got hooked on a rounded off lug nut. I took photographic evidence of what happened hoping that my next act, to cut it off wouldn't have be buy another. My Matco man said Matco wouldn't cover that. So he broke the ratchet side so they'd have something they would cover. Good man.
Man you just need a better Matco guy. Coming from someone who deals with them more than often. If not just contact customer service they are damn good in their warranty department.

Tools and equipment is only as good as a dealer I use snap-on and Mac I've been in business for 28 years my two dealers has been phenomenal
If you're going to buy overpriced American tools they at least better be American made snapon you can at least order repair kits for them and they'll never go out of business. Although you can do the same with your Matco I think the rebuild kits are less than $20
I had a Mac rep try to fight me after we had exchanged a few select words about him not wanting to warranty a ratchet. I contacted corporate and talked to three different "managers" who were going to send me a shipping label because of my trouble with the rep this was 7 mounts ago. I still have a broke POS ratchet.
7c performance I don’t doubt that at all .... it’s that crazy how it works. Sell you something with a lifetime warranty and you pay enough up front to purchase no less than 3 of the tools straight out of the gate then when it breaks they don’t want to replace it.
That’s ok I bought a Aircat impact of a Snap On truck which had a stuck trigger out of the box. They sent it off and I never got it back and the rep who replaced that guy said that’s funny the place he told me he sent it off too doesn’t exist. But the new rep was good enough to credit me my money back even though he didn’t sell it.

+Phil D12 you better be glad you don’t have one ! From what i have heard this is normal for most matco dealers ! I didn’t know until recently they do not make a single tool they sell. It is all rebranded stuff.
My Matco man was awesome! I could call him up or text him and he would be there the next day! Jim Herndon out of Mesquite Texas was a great tool man! He may be retired now, I don't know. The shop I worked at and he serviced went tits up a couple years! ago!
My matco guy sucks as well. I try and order tools from hom all the time and he never gets them in. He never answers his phone on top of it all.
I also have a bunch of Matco tools from over the years, I can't get none warrantied cause my Matco guy fell off the planet or something? Or he quit and became a Snap On guy in another state? IDK but he vanished. And their gear wrenches suck, my entire set near broke and money down the drain till I get them swapped out
RANS87IROCZ if you have a Napa or Tractor Supply close by take those gearwrench there. They will swap them for ya !
But I do know they do the gearwrench brand, But I have Matco version of gearwrenches

well you did right as if you phone matco they are rude (mostly) as when i had bought a scanner and found it was not what i wanted nor was it as advertised (we have a buyers remorse law here) so i returned it and was told a bunch of bullshit and for a long time was screwed around by MATCO and when they found there mistake they fucked me over again in calling the return a reposesion and screwing with my credit rateing

Bought a pocket extendable magnet form my Matco guy.He says it’s a lifetime warranty. It breaks so then the lifetime warranty turns into well did it break tot he side or did it break by pulling out the end? If it broke to the side it’s not under warranty. Wtfl? Lol

You guys got treated just like my Snap-on guy treated me. I would call him and he would just keep lying to me and even the Snap-on rep was with him on one occasion and they just never would show up and thanks again for Aussie Dave was there and he has been taking care of me ever since the Snap on guy just stop taking care of me and I had been buying Snap -on tools for over 30 plus years. Aussie Dave is the perfect tool man representing is tool market

GYFootball I honestly would go with Snap On. Everyone wants them. The profit margin is good and there brand is top notch. Everyone wants something with snap On logo on it.
I think you need to have your attorney call MATCO corporate and put them on notice that a life time warranty is just that and that you are going to send this tool in and they had better send a replacement...... or else! (perhaps you could barter a bit with your attorney for his/her phone call to them?). They need to understand that you are not some greasy goof wasting their time and that you mean business. I move to a new shop call matco to come and he ask me how many mechanic work there and i told him just me and he said i will be there next week he never came and i call snap on and happens to be the best dealer i ever had 3 moths and i have spend close to 4k. You fuck up matco
+jose ibarra I have to say I have not been let down in any way, shape form or fashion by my Snap On guy. He’s awesome ! The Matco guy is hit or miss all the way. He still hasn’t showed up so ..... Bill took the ratchet to his old shop where he used to work and the Matco guy there (a different dealer) fixed it. I’m completely done with matco all together.
Me to my snap on dealer come if need something or meets me some were if he can make it and I am only 1 person in the shop that tell you alot about him

Really sucks that your rep sucks like this my dealer in Ontario Canada is very friendly does multiple customer appreciation giveaways a year and I have never had a warranty issue. He’s also always given loaner air tools out if there has been a problem with one of mine!

Mark Mitchell i wished we had a different dealer for sure. He is BAD ! Heard that he wasn’t getting resigned and was going to switch over to gearwrench. I don’t think the brand matters it all about the dealer in this case. My snap on dealer is an amazing guy. He does everything he can to help in anyway he can. I stay away from tool trucks, warranty depends on the guy you get. I rather gonto a store and get it warranted out questions not asked.

I think you didn't ask for my opinion, but if I may...lol...I think a more appropriate title would be My Matco Dealer Lied. I've only had good ones, but LOL, I laugh just to think of it. One Snap On man was avoiding my buddy and his broken ratchet so bad he lied he was broken down but my buddy saw that exact truck drive by. No mistaking it since he never updated his truck - way beyond what dealers recommend, lol - they recommend new every 8-10 years to stay looking fresh and awesome, but he was more like 8 to 20 years in that truck. Oh man, that was funny.
My buddy let me know later that this particular Snap On man was struggling with not going bankrupt. Hey, if you treat people right, you shouldn't ever have that problem...maybe a new dealer during an economy crash would struggle, but that's about it.

+Brett Snyder wow ! That’s must be standard operating procedures for Matco dealers then ! What kills me is they act like they are doing you a favor by selling you tools. I guess they have no clue u can buy the same junk off eBay or craigslist cheaper. I always buy from the truck if possible but if they will not warranty it anyways why bother if you have to mail it back to the company to get it fixed.

Dill Wiggle well a normal dealer does service the customers one time per week but we don’t have a normal dealer. He might come by this week and not see him again for 3-4 weeks or even a month and a half later when he shows up. Poor excuse either way when he lives in the same town as our shop and has to pass by it daily to go home ?

What don't you understand? The tool guy makes a living off of tools sold. If you buy some tools from him this year, how many years is he supposed to keep coming when the purchases stop? Just like you go to work to earn money, so does he. If you value the service, then why not throw the guy a bone every now and then and buy some tools so he can earn a little money and keep providing you the service you want?
Jake Leibold hard to buy from him when he doesn’t show up to sell tools. He’s had texts and calls asking for specific items and he said he had it on the truck and will be by but not show up ? Sounds like he didn’t wanna sell too much anyways. Glad he didn’t show up especially since he is going out of business due to his poor customer service he provided.

These problems are usually the greasy greedy truck trolls not the manufacturers there just a shitty lying representative of the company I work for been lucky with a few dealers that gave me spare rebuild Kitts so I wasn't waisting my time waiting on them that's a dealer that cares and getts my money

I never filmed on his truck at all, so that isn’t a possible excuse. He was just a bad dealer with crappy customer service. Guess that’s one of the reason he isn’t a matco dealer anymore.

Yes because it is the dealers truck and also his business so ..... it’s up to him if he will let you film or not.
Man I thought my matco guy was a bust but apparently alot of matco reps are this way it's sad my matco guy will come by once. Month and I told I'm. Not buying anything from u again but your not reliable but my snap on rep is here every wed rain snow or shine hes there so he gets my business sorry for your luck
That was our old matco dealer the new one we have is awesome. He’s there every week and always willing to do what it takes to fix or replace tools.
