The thought of giving the corners a push simplifies the process so much! Thank you.
This is great! When I was a young new flatbedder (enough said) I was in this same situation, backing in off a busy street into a narrow gate. I had only been driving a few months. I didn’t have a clue as to how to “set up” for this scenario. Heart was pounding! I tried and failed twice. Frustrated and embarrassed while allowing traffic to go by, I took a deep breath, paused a moment and noticed an local day cab guy a half block away and just watched and mimicked his setup. Shoot, I backed right in! Things ya learn as you go….pay attention to your experienced elders. LOL
Thanks Jay! that's great!
One of the best training videos so far for backing up the truck for beginners like me. I also think even pro's can use it as a guide to remember. Sir your camera set ups and your narrative so clear and helps, Thank you.
Great camera work/editing. Keep the content coming. All CDL schools should be subscribers!
thanks Tony!
I'm going to be driving on the left so I have to remember everything is opposite but I love the way you break it down, I'm a lot less scared of reversing having watched your videos and a bit more confident about completing training successfully.
Good luck with everything Steven!
When you have to block traffic to get into a spot, make sure to completely block it. If you leave any gap that someone may think they can squeeze through they will. A majority of people driving cars would rather risk an accident than wait 5 seconds for you to get out of the way.
I have seen people do some absolutely ridiculous things because they think thier time is more important than mine and they can't wait a few seconds for me to move. One incident resulted in them having to call a tow truck to pull them out of a 6ft deep ditch.
Yup I've blocked the road completely but people still jumped curves, used a driveway and drove on grass. I don't understand.
@@invnine5140 I don't either. But I don't understand why they do most of the stupid things they do, my guess is that they haven't seen the stuff we see and the consequences of those stupid decisions.
These vids are priceless, bro! Hey, I love the songs you've been playing on them, too. I love that last one. It sounds like Hans Zimmer's Interstellar theme.
It's called "A Clear Night" by @Colton Dewberry . And Thank You! Glad you like them.
A friend of yours, my son John Clark asked me to stop by. I am retired and not a truck driver but the precision required to perform these backing up maneuvers is interesting. I have decided to subscribe and pass your UA-cam channel on to a few of my friends that have similar interests. Good luck on reaching 1,000 Subscribers soon. Before you know it you and your close friends will be celebrating your UA-cam 100,000 Subscriber Silver Play Button! Well produced and useful instructional video!
John speaks highly of you. Thank you so much for taking the time! I appreciate the kind words.
@@AdvancedTruckBacking The instructional value and quality of your videos will stand on their own. I will be watching as your channel gains more visibility!
Good job making videos I like easier get out look than police report keep up good work

Short and Sweet! When they say dont want youtube videos before schooling, they dont mean yours! Nice video!
Right! 😁 Thank you!
Just watched this last night and had to use it this morning.
I'm using this lessons on ATS :) Thank you.
Seen your second video on my suggestions. Ended up watching all your videos. Great information easy to understand. I recommended your videos to other guys in my Schneider orientation.
Thanks Jake!
I went through this earlier tonight and you’re right, as a newbie, I didn’t pull up far enough (four separate times). How stressful to have to keep pulling up and each time not enough…long sigh! Hopefully it gets much easier, sooner rather than later. Thank you for your video 🙏🏾
You're welcome Mary! Try to visualize those curved paths leading into your target space. When you see your tandems arrive on it stop pulling forward. I hope you find the time to watch the other videos in the series. Good Luck!
Thanks for making these videos. You have a logical way of explaining methods that should be a standard.
I appreciate that! You're welcome!
Love your vids. I pull a 14 footer gooseneck trailer with a 2500 Ram Cummins. I have never backed up a trailer till now I was very nervous trying to park in my driveway. Watching your vids has help me a lot and learned new techniques. Again, thank you.
Awesome! Thanks Ernesto!
Thank you for the videos very helpful
You are welcome!
You are Maestro! Thank you for your videos, they are truly helpful, safe talking to all!
You are very welcome
Hoping to have some fun in retirement driving some trucks. Trying to figure out if it's for me. Your videos are very helpful and I'm sure they will help me be much better prepared should I decide to get my CDL. Good job on your instructional presentation (coming from a former teacher!)l Thanks for taking the time to create the videos and mixing them up a bit to keep them interesting.
Thanks a lot David! You will be in high demand these days. Good luck with everything. Come back and let us know how CDL training goes.
There's a two lane dead end street in Simi Valley where they unload you in the street. I used to use this technique to back down the street to unload. It works great to avoid backing into traffic.
I forgot when I got my COMMERCIAL DRIVERS license, but I only drove for a short time. I remember having to parallel park during my training. I drove a cattle feed truck, later and later a 53 foot refrigerated box trailer over the road carrying flowers. I never having problems backing up. I don’t understand Why a trucker, new or old wouldn’t subscribe to your channel.
Thanks Donald.
Another great video. I actually just started with the same company that your with and I've been having some problems backing. But I believe after watching all your video I now have a better understanding. Thank you!
Thanks bro I was nervous about my packing for the interview but I feel better now thanks hopefully I get a job🤞
My pleasure Fernando! You got this! Good Luck!
Good advice, thanks for the tip!
Greetings from STL , Great video
:-)
Great information... Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
you make the best videos!
Thanks Jimmy! Glad you like them.
This channel is bad ass omg lol I watch a lot of different trucking channels and this is top 5 please keep doing this
Thanks G! I appreciate the kind words. Good Luck with everything.
Excellent !
Many thanks!
Love the intro
wow great views !
My brother had to go to New York City, had to back up off from a very busy street. Never been back to the Big Apple.
Doesn't sound fun. LOL
Thank you sir
Welcome
Damn, just found your channel. Keep making videos!
Thanks Eric! Will do...just curious, how did you find it?
I watched all your videos and found them helpful and appreciated some new ways of thinking as I tend to get locked into things and follow that rule all the time. I've been driving for a year and although I've greatly improved in my backing I'm still a rank rookie and don't have a lot of confidence especially in new situations. I'll be trying your visual methods as I continue to do my deliveries week to week. One thing I've got to know is in your intro who is the dude in the hi-vis green muscle shirt and gray goatee and what in the world is he doing?
Thanks a bunch! Glad you found them helpful! ..The guy in the video is a buddy of mine. He was driving the yard spotter and saw me with a camera. I told him about an idea i had, and he was making sure I was ok after going thru the trailer wall , windshield and falling off the hood onto the ground. hahaha. just having fun with it. The real reason I left it in there was to make people curious and keep it interesting that's all.
Can you go over the proper way to do U-turns. Tight or open area. I see alot of new drivers go about it the wrong way.
Rounded rectangles.. Episode 2
nice vids
Thanks!
❤
Great video like the rest of all others, but the music during the backing is just awesome. By any chance who's it playing it?
"A Clear Night" by @Colton Dewberry .Thanks for watching!
The music during the backing maneuver is totally awesome and hypnotic. 😎👍👏👂🎼
Glad you like it!
When you say “get my tractor back to the front of it (the trailer)” what exactly do you mean by that does that mean you just put your tractor in reverse?
I get my tractor back to the front of the trailer when I turn the wheel sharply to the left (the side of the offset) and it follows the trailer.
@@AdvancedTruckBacking thank you I have much to learn!
3:50 I find this confusing the trailer was effected at all when straighten up the cab that much.
It's all about kingpin pressure. The front corners were moved slightly but not as much as they would have if the directional pressure wasn't constantly changing as it moved towards the front of the trailer.
Я водитил Туркменистан работа ии́ес мухадов башхим
What if there's no center area and there's 4 lanes! Ugh
Could be tough! Try to get a couple of people to stop traffic and spot you.
I just pulled straight into the place and figured it out when I got in there. I'm flat bed so backing isn't my strong suit lol
Bump
Your videos have such an intelligent perspective, they immediately rose to top priority for me. Thanks so much! You deserve the largest possible following of aspiring truckers. Keep the vids coming!!
Thanks! Good Luck with everything!
Amen! I’ve been a driver for 3.5 years but I’ve learned so much about backing since I found your videos a week ago!! Yeah I said it- I didn’t get the backing training while in training and I didn’t realize how much I was missing until I got out there on my own. I’m STILL SCARED about backing.
@@shannonward-urrabas1543 Sorry for the late response Shannon. I don't get notifications that someone replied to a comment- not sure why. Thanks for the feedback. Good Luck and stay safe out there!
This is a great Instructional Video! It offers clear and thorough teaching with plenty of camera time to keep you spot on! Thanks Dave!
thanks Scott!
Can see that being a bit of a stressful one if you are new to the industry.
Love it! The Z setup :D Hard to believe they didn't teach us this in school.
You truly have a gift for teaching this. Thanks for these videos
Thank you Mike! I enjoy helping people.
Really appreciate these videos, it makes sense now. I’ve been driving for 20 years never knew how I was doing what was just naturally being done. Excellent teaching I’ve even learned some things. Bravo!!!
Thanks for the comment DettWill. Amazing how the subconscious takes over the repetitive tasks after so many years of doing it. It took me a lot of attention and focus to narrow down the details of what I was actually doing. Safe travels!

You right but you doing wheel left to right please
Eres el maestro de los maestros
What if there isn't a space in the middle of the road where you can safely wait for an opening in the traffic?
you would have to wait in your lane with your turn signal on. When you start your setup turn your 4 way flashers on.
Dang, that's cool
You are awesome
❤
It is the best I have seen in videos, very professional
Thank you very much
thank you
Great diagram on the set up! You don't want to loose sight of the vehicles coming up behind you.
Comment for the #youtubealgorithm
😊
Great content, Sheldon!
As a flatbed driver we are forbidden to back off the road unless we have a spotter stopping traffic. Excellent work on your behalf educating the lesser experienced drivers. Includes myself.
I understand Chris! Thanks!
Going to cdl test, new driver. That rear camra angle showing both side of trailer is amazing. Seen a ton if backing videos and love that camra angle
Thanks Josh! Good luck with your test!
Put a dislike due to music and intro...annoying
