- Tribute to one of my fave St. Louis Ragtime pianists, I tried to include some of his tricks including his walking bass on the repeat of the trio. The slurring in the bass in the A section (notated in the sheet music!) was a popular midwestern ragtime trick used by Les Copeland and many others, but in this case I believe it may have been drum imitation (the rag is dedicated to Tom Pickerell, Cammack's drummer of the early 1900s).
Still so amazing, Charlie! That Rag Time is so RAD. You are a Prodigy. Thanks, man
Apparently, Tom and Jerry were popular name pairings even before the cartoon existed.
That's great! Apart from the walking bass as played by Cammack, you also conclude the piece in the same way Cammack did. If there was no video, I would have believed that was Cammack playing.
Oh my gosh! My jaw dropped when you started playing those slurred bass lines! Dude that's incredible!
Those little ornaments in the bass is golden.
Waouh... energetic, pleasant and fun ...
I was just sight reading my way through some really boring pieces in Trebor Jay Tichenor's Ragtime Rarities when I came across this piece. Somehow I had overlooked it long ago and it really got my attention. Then I listened to this very nice rendition. Back to the piano!
Very nice!
Dang, beat me to finishing the rag. >D
