No talking, no squealing, no backstory, just showing how to do the job. I can’t think of a more perfect video. Thank you so much for making it.
🤩🤩🤩
Your commentary provides useful information, it is missed!!
I used to do medical gas pipeline work and the fact this kind of information exist is actually amazing, well presented.
Sweet, thanks 😊
What is that? Like the oxygen inside hospitals?
I solder with my valves closed as well. People argue ventilation for leaving it open but that’s not a good reason. The best reason for closing it is to help keep the shape of the gasket where the ball valve closes. Great work, as always.
Good tip!
@@Got2Learn valve should be slightly cracked open. if you over heat the gasket blows out
Ideally, solder ball valves in closed position. OR open when you need to vent the hot air from inside the pipe so it doesn't bubble out through your molten (fresh) solder joint. But DO NOT solder ball valves while they are partially open. That will ruin the valve.
The only valves you can solder in the partially open position are: stop & waste valves; globe valves or gate valves.
Happy sweating!
It really depends on what the manufacturer recommends. Documentation on the valves will indicate which they prefer.
this video is so interesting, especially for deaf people who really want to learn this job thanks
You're very welcome!
Thank you, don't forget to share, it really helps the channel!
The lesson I learned here - take your time.
Yes.
Nice, it was interesting to actually see the time involved.
Thks, for the video that solves the debate on the other video!!
Great video! Glad to see you uploading still!
At 3:04, a gap appears at the top of the joint, suggesting poor flux or contamination, instead of the shiny continuous bead one desires. There might be enough solder inside to seal the joint, but I would worry that it could fail without the obvious continuous bead.
its a large gap, need to go back and fill it in after it cools a little
Valve should be open during soldering as to not trap expanding air with a fixture or hosebib open.
Well done mon ami. You are the master of masters 😁👍🍻
Nice lead free video
Whenever I see the logo for Oaty I can't help but think about oatmeal.
Great videos dude! I have learned a lot.
Glad to hear it!
Been a while since u posted. Hope your doin well 🇨🇦
Father had a severe stroke in August, so my priority is not to make videos anymore unfortunately :( Thanks for your concern Andrew!
Put your flame the direction you want the solder to flow. Then push the solder through.
I am amazed at the neatness and precision. 1 question. I always thought that I was supposed to leave the valve open so as to not damage the seal. Am I mistaken? 😮😮
Thank you, it depends on the manufacturer, some manufacturers require the valve to stay open some require them to remain closed.

Thanks man these can be helpful!
Thank you!
You are most welcome!
Please start posting again, i miss your content
😔😔😔
I have weld so far in my lifetime from 1" to 2" with map gas and for 1"under normal blow torch the small one 😂
Thank you very much!!!
This solder could use in hvac pipe
What? Cat got your tongue?
Really though
He’s shy.
We don't wanna hear someone talking bollocks
Can you do a video on "vertically" soldering larger size ball valve and pipes i.e. 2"? I understand its much more involved... Thanks!
Already have, here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/LU9oHBhMfG0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Got2Learn
Thank you a lot for your video, Excellent!
Thank you, don't forget to like and share 😇
How do you solder when you have a T fitting close to the valve. As in no pipe seen between one of the the T end and the Valve? Going to install a 3 valve bypass for my water softener. 1" pipe and valve.
What was the purpose of this video? It totally escaped me. Great channel. Bewildering video.
No particular goal for once, just some soldering footage 😉
@@Got2Learn Got it. Thanks.
Hey man i started using tinning flux, nokorode, and I'm used to using everflux and you have to thoroughly stir everflux before using. The tinning flux is so much thicker and pastier, do you need to stir it thoroughly as well?
I leave it in the heat when I can.
Great video, exactly what I needed 👍
Thank you, don't forget to share, it really helps the channel!
So relaxing
😴
👍👍👍. Thank you
🙏🙏🙏
I would suggest keeping your flux and brushes clean. May eliminate the couple voids. Otherwise pretty good video.
I thought that much pre-heat on the pipe and valve would've burned away the flux, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is it because the Oatey in the green container is more heat resistant or something?
Correct!
@@Got2Learn I see, so would it be okay to just always use that type of flux for any joint instead of the other types? I'm always in a rush fearing flux burn, but you're way more patient. For an amateur like me, that would be a nice advantage being able to go at a more relaxed pace as shown.
@@AGhostInTheMachine for sure
Very helpful thanks
Thank you, please share if you can, have a great day sir!
Good video as always!
What keeps all that heat from ruining that Nylon seal around the ball valve? That is what I worry about!
The amount of heat used to solder it ;)
@@Got2Learn OoooKay?
Saw ur brother shouting you out in a tiktok comment
Was it good or bad?
@@Got2Learn it was good😂, it was a vid about how plumbers could be more successfull than doctors and then she mentioned you👍🏻 (it was ur sister btw, not ur brother, my mistake)
@@nalalla6470 WOWWW, awesome!!!!!!!
What is the solder can ise for air-conditioning?
How much pressure can soldering points withstand?
Don't go above 130lbs, anything over that needs to be brazed or threaded.
@@Got2Learn I meant the fluid pressure inside the joints.
Can you solder 2 inch with propane?
Doable, not preferable.
Kolik si v USA,nevím v kterém státu,vyděláš jako Instalatér za měsíc?Dik za odpověď.Hi Dalibor
why did u use oxy/actelyne torch on that 2inch? mapp gas or regular act. (b-tank) would b just fine.....
I had the oxy/aceth setup, but yeah a btank would work just fine.
I would love to know your opinion on the knew style shark bites. Sucks cause I work at a plumbing store and people don’t like the knew ones.
Sharkbite Max?
He did a video on the new shark bites.
@@Lugenfabrik ima look for it thank you

How can I get into plumbing in Canada with zero experience or knowledge
You need your plumbing certificate, no choice.
Apply with Neptune meter installation, learn plumbing ")
for 2"..did you use more solder than 2 inches ? It looks about 4?
That trick only works on like 1" and less, 2" you need more...
What happened to the "Hey, what's up guys? In this video I'm gonna show you..."? I miss the commentary.
Next one coming soon ;)
Oatey 95/5 solder, is it good for refrigerant piping?
Negative. You'll be needing silfos rods to braze those lines.
What does the LF mean??
Lead free
@@plumbbuild6517 Thank you......knowledge is power... DVD:)
Hi and thank you for your many videos. They have been very helpful. I’m just beginning to learn some soldering skills and have a question for you. Regarding the soldering of the brass valve in this video. Will the heat from the torch potentially damage or compromise what appears to be a plastic seal within the valve?
Thanks, check this video: ua-cam.com/video/cELzc9ZophQ/v-deo.html
Thanks for replying to my post. I watched your video using the link you provided. Very helpful, as usual. Fine work.
@@tristanquintus3200 You are most welcome!
What's with the silent treatment?
You closed the valve? I heard it should be open. How do you know? Also, you heated the pipe instead of the fitting. Why?
Thanks,
Paul
That particular brand and model ask for the valve to be in the closed position when soldering, some ask to be half opened, some opened, it really depends the brand. As for why I heated the pipe, I explain that here: ua-cam.com/users/clipUgkxm1YH54kJ0Fwcwe0Udkrlg6NjX3Fh6TBQ?si=M5Wq_QQ4AETtOKIf

You got a massive gap at the top of the first joint. Why would you present this as an example of good soldering?
First
Jesus you should learn to solder properly before posting videos
Here we go lol...
poor technique
why so?
wow hes not very good
