If you guys are looking at a SENA for your motorcycle Comm system, the new 50S might be a great choice for you. I found the unit to be very similar to the 30K, but the speakers, charge port, and ease of updating are a great improvement on the new SENA 50S. I picked my unit up on Revzilla for just under $300. I highly recommend SENA 30K's and now the 50S if you are looking to get a great bluetooth comm system. The 50S is a definite improvement, I would not say you need to upgrade from a 30K. If you are looking to get your first SENA, then I would say it would be an easy choice to get the new 50S.

I've read that precut helmet speaker holes don't always align with the ear canals. Check to see that your ear canal is in the center of the speaker and then adjust the speaker placement if necessary.
That was a problem with my Klim Pro helmet a bit hard to find the ear position ( it have no hole to put it into) but it went well after maybe 7 diffrent locations and the spacers did a wonderful job so it is insane good sound kvality on the Sena 50 vers the 30 :)

good vid. so.. when someone has something plugged into the audio output jack on the base section of the new 50S, can you also have sena's mic plugged into it? thats the part im fuzzy on, so far.

my 50c came with that boom mic and a little one that doesn't take any room, inside the helmet.........why use the boom mic? that's for open face helmets?
been thinking about getting one of these for the Shoei RF 1400 i just got. If I dont have music for more than an hour I go nuts. as for the silver im not against painting the silver over so it matched my matte black helmet
Definitely get one! They're totally worth the money so you can easily listen to music and take phone calls on the road.

I have both the 20c evo and the 50c evo but the 50c is not as loud as the 20c so I can't really understand my music at slightly higher speeds, and i have tried everything to make it louder but the sound is still too soft

Who is the best???
I have upgraded from 20S to 50S, witch is on its way to me. 20S has a very week connection in mash. Lots of noise, and easily lost connections. And it not loud enough. With earplugs
i cold not hear anything. Bought different earplugs too, so i have high hopes.
I will be honest with you, I'm going to have to film a long term ownership review. I have a lot of positive thoughts but also some also major complaints. Ranging from battery issues to just not being loud enough.
@@BrandonMohn I will check that out when it is up on UA-cam. At this point, I think it is still better than the 20S. I ride two up, and most of the time with group. 20S allowed only 3 Sena in one group. That was a major issue, and also the week connections . Still having high hopes. New unit arrives in a few days. Cross my fingers.

I mainly do too, just the convenience alone was worth it imo.
i have 10c pro, but if i turn on audio multitasking and connect to sena smh10 + listen music at the same time, the music sound will stutter, skipping does the 50s have the same problem ?
I actually don't run it in Multitasking mode so I have never had that issue. Sorry that I can't help
Idk if you are still active but I have this system any recommendations on how to be able to hear it while on a loud bike
Unfortunately these are speakers, so unless your helmet sits close to your ears and provides ample sound proofing you won't be able to hear them
can you connect and talk to people if they're not using a sena headset?
Yes but only using the bluetooth feature, not the mesh 2.0.
How do the JBL speakers from the cardo sound compared to the sena 50S?
So I haven't had the pleasure of trying them, but from what I've heard they're similar. The new 50S speakers have actual range as far as actual audio clarity and quality is concerned, you can customize the treble and bass to your liking and all around they're a much better speaker than the original 30K ones.
can you use the mesh function with other lower model of sena?
As long as the Sena has a MESH 2.0 on it then you are able to use it to my understanding! Keep in mind I am not a Sena expert nor am I a paid by them for any of this info. I may be wrong but to my knowledge I believe only the 30K, 50R, and 50S work together on MESH 2.0. That definitely may be something you want to look further into though,
You cannot mesh with a Sena 20 but you can pair with the lower models

@@BrandonMohn Sena also make a mesh adapter for the lower models - basically an antenna that relays from the unit's bluetooth connection. Uses up one of the two pairing slots though.

The boom mic should be use only with open face or modular. For full face it should be the wired.
I run the Boom because it fits fine and sounds good. Most of my friends do the same. Just ends up being easier to take out if I do choose to do it, which I occasionally do.

I have used my 50S for one week. Now I cannot get it to hold a charge. It will only work while plugged in to a charger. Have tried to unclip from helmet and I cannot figure this out! I am coming from my beloved SMH10. It clips and unclips with no problems. Is there a secret button you need to push in order to remove from helmet?
Sorry for your issues, the little silver button on the back of the mount(rounded and protruding out) needs to be pressed in order to release the Sena 50S.
@@BrandonMohn Thank you. I had a chat with SENA tech support to finally figure this out. It is not easy or intuitive at all, in my opinion. I also think a step backward in usability, compared to my beloved SMH10. However, I still cannot get the unit to hold a charge. I have submitted a support ticket to SENA and may be returning this product. I am extremely disappointed in a model that is supposed to be their flagship product. It worked for a single ride and never again.
I'm so sorry to hear that that's your experience with it. I personally have too many rides and hours with the new Sena 50S and even the old 30K units without any issue. They have their quirks like MESH not working right sometimes or it not instantly connecting to my phone every time, but overall I've had nothing fail and nothing to complain about. Hopefully you give them another shot, but I understand if you wouldn't. I'm not paid to back them, or any motorcycle stuff I use, I just legitimately love the products I own.

Confused as to what that's supposed to mean? The Scorpion in the video is a quality helmet, SNELL rated and crash tested. I plan to get an R1 Air from Scorpion eventually but I have 0 issues with Scorpion helmets

What are you talking about if you don't mind me asking? You setup that specific cord, with the built-in adapter, by connecting it to the wifi of your home or wherever you plan on leaving that cord, then whenever you plug in your Sena 50 series device it will automatically do updates to your unit via wifi.
That is what the documentation says, but I’ve now tried 3 different WiFi network, 1 even created from scratch keeping as plain Jane as possible. It’s walks through the WiFi setup but after I select the network and password it just blinks for a few minutes and then turns red. After a few days of this I ended up connecting to my MacBook Pro and updating the old fashioned way. I might reach out to Sena but after them taking well over a month to get me my 50S I don’t know if I care for them any longer.
I don't know if you got a faulty unit or whatever it may be, but my experience has definitely been great. I will say if you order things right now, you have to be patient with shipping due to COVID delays.
Brandon Mohn I understand Covid delays which I why I choose not to deal with Sena again. Customer service has to go through someone else to get an RMA and the person who does create RMAs will not reply to the email chain so unless you are aware of the forum they use, you will not get any questions or responses they might leave. Their whole customer service system at least right now is terrible. This has been my experience and if they would had allowed you to use the trade in plan for devices purchased from 3rd party dealers such as Revzilla I would have had a great experience and received my purchase in a couple of days.
Mine took a few minutes longer than expected but it eventually connected. I almost gave up too.
