    This poem is about reality and that life without dreams is a sort of nightmarish. No matter people's social statuses they've all lost souls. He describes people's ego implying that those who are incapable to care for anyone therefore ''nothing'' cares for them suggesting that they have no spiritual aura and get bad karma, you reap what you sow. He basically describes US society metaphorically saying they're murdered by greed and money , therefore there is no place for dreams, no life, no joy , no humanity. He's being angry that they've given up on themselves and wants them gone because they're living their lives without passion, without being really alive and connected to the universe without being grateful, without understanding what life is all about. He is saying people how can you live without love and even though he is disheartened he still writes ''fellow creatures'' and shows empathy towards them. Great poem, thanks.

      I do agree with you on many points! It is so incredible how the poem makes you think about yourself also. While reading you may end up thinking how many times you have lived like this during your life. At least that's what happened to me. Do you think that when he says "fellow creatures" he's just showing empathy? Or maybe even trying to point out that he's part of them as well? Like he's also projecting himself in this poem, maybe? Anyway, big thanks for the large comment and for subscribing! You made my day brighter! :D

      @@Lorenacol Glad I made your day brighter. I don't think he's saying he's part of them I think he was way beyond herd consciousness. He offers strong attitude and accent on individuality against it. He is venting out his anger and disdain, but through critique also encouraging and warning us not to give up on a dream. ''Fellow creatures'' might as well be the irony.

    How is it possible that someone else summarized my life more eloquently, accurately, and precisely than I ever could? This is exactly what I think and feel. The awareness of this is a great burden because it's like watching waves of empty, detached mimics of the imperfect beauty that is humanity. One cannot ignore the positive attributes as though the lesser negative attributes define the entirety of the past/present/future existence of the person(s) of interest. People, majority of the time, change throughout their lifespans so, if you want to get technical, neuroplastisity and neural pruning are innate neurological functions that arrange which pathways to turn on and off based on which pathways you use more frequently by engaging in repeated, or not frequently used, behaviors/activities. So you choose, by what you do, which parts of your brain are getting "exercised" and expanding upon, and which parts get shut off when they're not in use.

    This lyrics mixed with the narration make you wonder. The feelings I get out of it is that greed and egocentrism has totally captured our society. When I think in retrospect the moments I was purely happy was when I was so rounded by people I love and love me back. This connection has faded away with time by growing older. Not sure why, maybe because the ego gets bigger but naturally I feel it's totally wrong. We lose ourselves and our souls by not being present, sitted with each other and staying in our phones or overthink instead of communicating our feelings and emotions. Great poem!

    This poem reflects on what the philosopher Kierkegaard called "aesthetic man", an individual that has no faith, and without faith or an ideological frame they are incomplete. They simply jump from one entertainment to another. They live for cheap thrills and are empty because they refuse to engage with anything deeper. If love is simply about the thrill then it will fade and a person will run out of people to share short term thrills with. They know this is true even when they are young, yet they persist to pursue joy without substance, and so they will end up an empty shell.

    Bukowski was also one of them. I can relate to every line, but don't know why he wishes that someone murders them. (Maybe he wishes that death will bring them peace). why hate? I will be damned if he thinks he is not one of them. Everyone comes to terms with their life just like he mentioned. we all will experience or already experienced what he says. All of the desires, greed, competition will mean nothing at last. If one need is satisfied another need automatically shows up. we will get tired of everything inevitably at the end.

    • @Lorenacol
      @Lorenacol  3 роки тому +1

      I also thought when I read it for the first time that Bukowski felt part of them as well. I guess we will never know. But yes, indeed the meaning behind his words here are veery hopeless. It's like you realize everything you have been fighting for (status, money, commodities) are meaningless at the end of the day if you don't love and don't feel loved. Thanks for sharing! I love reading interpretations like this :D

      I don't believe he wishes for murder, but the way they meander through life without desire determines that they've already been murdered unknowingly. I think he's calling on them to rise up and pursue their dreams with fervor and fire, as it is his definition of life and existence. If they fail to revive from that they have failed to live the rest of their life, but the use of the word murder implies that there were outside influences that causes that flame to extinguish, who are indeed the murderers he's references.

      Thanks for watching, Sajanmeet! No, I didn't shoot them. I bought them from a website called Filmpac. You can buy a subscription for a year if you need some stock footage and they have really good ones!

    This is a great video, well done, but unfortunately the music and the background noise were more prominent than the words being spoke.

    I have to agree with this poem. "The Walking Dead" is just a metaphor for this phenomena. If the plan is to kill off half the population the loss will not be nearly that bad.

    Why do you guys not mix the music on these so it doesn't drown out the speaking voice... The music is like 20% louder than it should be...
