In my personal opinion, the sound of the Epiphone may not be 100 percent the same, but the sound is close enough to replace the Gibson. It's really worth it. From my opinion, the person who bought

Many instruments sound good. To a lot of people it’s about the quality and feel / playability of the instrument. This is where the diminished return shows. I’m anxious to try one out and test the playability to my Gibson

Plus it’s different pickups so it won’t sound the same

    A great review thanks.
For what you actually getting, the Epiphone phone is a great deal being a fraction of the Gibson price.. The Epiphone makes a great choice for the bedroom rockstars who want a premium build without paying the Gibson price tags...It is also a great choice for the studio and live gig performances... Nobody will ever call the cops to come and arrest you on stage for not using a full on Gibson... The vast majority of audiences would never tell the difference.... The Gibson is a great choice for those who are prepared to spend more money to get the real deal... Its great that Epiphone have released this premium line of Custom shop inspired guitars.... It provides a wider choice and another level for those who want a real Gibson vibe without breaking the bank.... The Epiphone with a nitro finish and rosewood fretboard would have been another level... Laurel seems to have developed a stigma with many purists..

I think the Epiphone is my pick here, sonically.
The differences are minimal or subtle, but I think the Epiphone has a slightly fuller, slightly more robust sound across all frequencies while maintaining excellent clarity.

Thanks! This is a really thorough comparison. Honestly, I like them both but I have to say, it feels like some of the differences highlighted here are 1. Psychological in that the Gibson has received more care or in that the knobs are better quality plastic (both instruments have a mix of CNC and handwork) and 2. significant aspects that matter, like sound and neck profile are pretty close. Which would I get? Truthfully, they are both great and in an ideal situation, I’d have both - however, if funds were less abundant and space is an issue, I think I’d pull the trigger on the Epiphone 59 - thanks again though, great video

Minus the wood species , paint used, and glue and the individual that made it it's the same platform/concept. It has the pickups and hardware and honestly the last two comparisons I found myself preferring the Epiphone. It will be mine oh yes it will be mine. Has the woman tone in sunshine of your love

They sound almost identical in the high end but the low end is where the Gibson sets itself apart . The low end is much bigger and has more depth with bettet definition .

I'm sick and tired of all the UA-cam guitar snobs desperately trying to criticise the less expensive guitars in a passive aggressive way. These people are so threatened by the thought of ordinary people having access to anything that is of the same quality of what they themselves own that they end up having a massive meltdown.😂 These rich elitists are pathetic. Most of them know that the "cheaper" guitars are the better deal but they can never let all of us "plebs" know that. By the way, I've owned 3 Gibson guitars and I still own 2 of them. I own a Gibson les paul standard 50s and a Gibson SG standard. I also own plenty of Epiphones. There isn't a lot of differences between the Epiphone versions compared to their Gibson counterparts.

I’ve just watched the review and can’t see any evidence of him criticising the epiphone in a passive aggressive way ? I thought it was a fair and detailed review of both guitars to be fair

Custombuckers have Alnico 3 mangets not Alnico 2 . Both guitars have Alnico 3 . There are is no such thing as a Standard Custombucker and higher grade custom bucker . There are 2 custombucker types which are the regular wound and underwound custombuckers .
The only exception is when they are cloning a vintage Gibosn . In those cases they will alter the specs of the Custombuckers slightly. They will sometimes use an A2 or A5 magnet or wind them a little hotter or cooler to match the output of the original pickups .They will measure the Output and take Gauss readings from the magnets to match the magnet of the originals but they still use the base custombucker recipe bur in terms of quality There are no standard custombuckers and higher end custombuckers .
The R7s R8s R9s and R0s all get the Alnico 3 custombucker . The 50 or so limited edition Murphy lab Les Pauls got Alnico 5 custombuckers ..
I've yet to hear of an A2 custombucker.

No 2 guitars sound the same . 2 identical Gibson with the same specs and components will often sound very different.
