Morgue is still in the basement. Probation used it for years and my friend worked in there, and I worked at Behavioral Health next door. He said the morgue still has the body holder/freezer in the basement. I never went down there but I did walk through parts of it. It is a creepy building. Makes your hairs stand up. Great video though. Thank you for the memories.

Good presentation. The music is eary, but not exaggerated at all. It fits this vid really well. Heard they also used it as an asylum for a short period of time after the hospital closed down.

That was interesting. I never knew that existed. I've only been to Oroville once. About 34 years ago to take back my sons from my ex mother in law. I was working on the east coast and let my mom watch my kids for the summer, in Yakima Washington. She decided can you tell my mom she wanted to take them for the day, and never returned. I wish it would have been under different circumstances. This looks like some amazing history. I'd love to go and look around Oroville today. It would also be nice to see if any of my son's relatives still live there. The art deco is beautiful. I really like the art deco around San Diego's Balboa Park too. Thanks for sharing this video with everyone. I really enjoyed it😊

Whoa....The drive up was right out of "The Shinning". Always loved that rounded streamline deco style of Architect too...Very smooth and still distinctive! Very Sweet that the hospital was used to help the animals and some wildlife during those fires in 2018. Can you imagine living on site as a Doctor? Very nice to see the County not letting this area go to a complete waste and decay. Loved the "County Tan Color scheme" line...made me chuckle! As a youngster I'd have done my Robinson Caruso best to explore this place while in Stealth Mode! Really cool video April! Very glad you were able to get out and get lost for awhile! Cheers From Ohio

The first picture showed where we used to live. The last house off Mono Avenue is where we used to live. And we would walk around these buildings as a playground. We did feel some abnormalities at night. I just now know why it was so creepy. Thanks for your video. I didn't know it used to be a hospital area. We used to hear ppl crying at night.

The purpose for those stairs I'd bet functioned to unload some taller truck, something like the loading dock built onto the back of grocery stores. Some stores even digging down a ramp to allow unloading at ground level. :)

Looks like the perfect "homeless town". It might cost a little bit to fix it up a bit but in the long run it would be cheaper for the town, especially the residents and business's that constantly have to do clean up. Over in Placerville they have a charity kitchen called The Upper Room and serves one meal a day. All donated food and volunteers. Well look here, there is already a kitchen. I would donate each month for this. Right between my PG&E and water bill. I think it is a great idea.

That was so interesting to me. My aunt, Rowena "Suzy" Stewart, worked there in the office after she and her husband moved to Oroville from Bangor. Odd for me to think of it as a spooky place now. I think she worked there until they closed. I always thought it was a shame that they closed it.

@@FindingNorcal No, I had no idea there was one and I like to visit old cemeteries! Get brave and give us a tour! Oh, on the subject. In my party day youth, I played hide and seek one night in the cemetery on Feather River Blvd. A boy and I were hiding behind a tombstone when we saw the other boy who had been resting his arm on a wire fence, suddenly run from there. He asked us later if we had shaken the fence. We were nowhere near it and there was no one else in there but the 3 of us. The boy was really shaken up. I haven't been back to that cemetery since and have no plans to do so. Be respectful of cemeteries, folks!

Apparently my biological grandmother died at this hospital when my mom was just 10 years old. I went to this place with my cousin once back in the late 80’s because she was on probation which was in this building at the time. Cops put guns on me and a couple other friends and made us get on the ground here back when we were 12 or 13 years old because some kids had escaped from the nearby juvenile hall. We always thought that it was funny that this place has a pole type thing sticking up out of the ground that resembles a giant penis. 😂
