And now she knows who killed her fiancé, but she can't do anything about it because of the Death Note."
This was the moment I truly started to see Light as truly evil. I mean, yeah, he's been a mass murderer for quite some time at this point, but up until now he always seemed to fall under the category of Well Intentioned Extremist. Even when he killed the FBI agents, he was simply getting people out of the way of his better world. This time however, it wasn't as simple. He didn't just kill her, he made her kill herself. He didn't just let her die, he mocked her, he taunted her. This was the first time he was truly cruel to his victim, not just killing out of necessity, but with a sense of malice and enjoyment. This was the moment, at least for me, when Light Yagami died, and all that was left was Kira
You do make a good argument about this being the point where Light Yagami is no longer Light Yagami, he's Kira full stop. But in all honesty, I would argue Light crossed the line into truly evil long before Naomi entered the scene. The moment where I began to see Light as truly evil was much earlier than this scene, back when L was using Lind L. Tailor as a decoy on TV to denounce Kira's actions as evil. True, before Lind L. Tailor, Light could hardly be called a villain. He's basically just a dark, gritty antihero who wanted to make the world a better place by killing off criminals. Just before the scene where he meets Ryuk, I see him with several pages worth of names written in the Death Note, chuckling in a creepy, if not outright insane way that gave me chills. But do I consider him a villain then? No, but he's sure bordering on it. Right then, he's more of a well-intentioned extremist Anti-villain who's determined to "rid the world of evil" by any means necessary. But then he kills Lind L. Tailor and that's where I'd say Light had officially crossed the line. He killed Tailor not for being a criminal or for anything remotely illegal/immoral. He killed Tailor just for calling him evil, just for crossing Kira. That's it. In my book, killing someone for a minor comment is crossing the line into evil. And that triumphant, insane chuckle he gives afterwards...yeah, that's it. Light has completely lost it.

This is my favorite Death Note moment for a few reasons. I like that she actually dies pretty early on because it shows that not everything is scripted. The villain isn’t always caught and the hero can die. That is just reality for you. And Light also uses Naomi's situation to his advantage. To everyone saying she is dumb for showing him her name when she was cautious before, keep in my mind what has happened. Even before they started talking, at the reception desk both Light and Naomi hear the clerk remind Light about all the times he helped with police investigations (more on this in a moment). Then he strikes up a conversation once she says she knows something that could help with the Kira case. Light (with Naomi being cautious but also aware now of Light having police interactions) asks Naomi about the case. Throughout the conversation she correctly dodges all his personal interactions. However, Light mentions one other thing. He is on the Task Force which is obviously a lie, but she doesn’t know that. Upon knowing he has been involved in numerous investigations, and also most likely big parts of the city being aware of his intelligence IQ wise, putting his psyche together, it really isn’t that difficult to asusme he is truthful. Then the final cut. She confirms that she was the fiancee of the man he killed earlier and that she used to work with L. Light didn’t know about her relationship with Raye, but its works to his advantage here since not only did she believe Light but also because this caught her off guard when Raye died. So, with no doubt left, she gives Light her license as official ID. Throughout the conversation he is checking his watch and a police officer comes their way. However, its snowing right as he is about to see Light. If the cop saw Light and Naomi together it might look suspicious and Naomi might rat Light out to him. However, the cop doesn't take any notice of them. Naomi finally asks Light why he keeps checking his watch. At this point, he knows she is done for. Also him hearing Ryuk's laugh earlier confirmed to him that her lifespan just dropped. Light says he is Kira and she is shocked but cannot do anything due to Light writing her name. But one of my favorite shots in this scene is Naomi's face when you get a closeup of her. She looks dead, like a corpse. At this point its clear she is done. And to add one more evil piece, Light gets out his phone asking if she wants to call his dad the chief. This not only shows Light as true evil, but just shows how smart Naomi really was, but how Light can use everything to a terrifying advantage.

@@yuseiyusei7941 how does chasing a serial killer makes you a criminal? Everyone who did that was 100% innocent, ofc I know Light killed them for self preservation, but everyone knows that. The point is that they _were_ innocent
If Light never went downstairs and heard the conversation of his mom talking to his sister about dropping off his dads clothes off at the police station, or hears the conversation but just ignores and denies about dropping off his clothes at the police station and lets Sayu do it instead, Naomi would’ve been able to reach to the task force HQ without light around trying to stop her and tells everyone her information about kira setting up the bus hijacking to get her fiance’s name (Raye penber), and they would find out light was the one that was being followed by Raye penber and was the suspect in the bus that day. Light would’ve been done for and caught easily.
Its weird to look a light since the creator said he changed his design as he became more insane over the course of the show, and for the first time in the show you can tell the difference (along with when they revert to his old character design when he loses his memory)
I don't know why, but I feel if Light had the Shinigami eyes, he would truly be unstoppable. The only reason why he was caught is because he had to gather information at times and that made him suspicious. If he had the eyes, he would of truly won.
this was an amazing scene based on lights willingness to earn her trust to gain her name, they show the exact moment he gets excited & she is destroyed for a reason, she knew all the rules about the ‘death note’ but she didn’t know how ruthless light was.
What makes this scene so impactful to me is he gives her just enough time for her to realize just how screwed she is. The real malice he shows towards her because this was a personal kill.
I wasn't even mad at Light because first of all I didn't know this Naomi enough to be moved by it secondly you have to remember that it was Ryuk's fault who brought the notebook to the human world to have fun

This was truly unforgivable. I was furious at Light for this. I almost couldn’t stand watching him.
But then the next episode happened, and I became a fan of the show again.
This one was just soul crushing. Out off all of Light’s kills this one hurt me as much as L’s death.
You shouldn’t comment major spoilers on a scene from early season 1
bru u just spoiled me
Imagine all the thoughts running in her head. To me it feels weird how she would not have two fake names. Like if you really think about it, it’s the perfect way to catch Kira.
But kira would just use the shinigami eyes and no fake names would've saved her
@@ChristopherPortorreal-ol2mjBut Light never got the shinigami eyes
@@Carl_Poppa-v3x yeah he never
I know this clip doesn't show it, but the part of this scene that always gives me chills is the music build up to where it all cuts out the moment Light grabs Naomi's ID. Just a great visual to showcase Naomi quite literally handing her life over to Light
This is the moment Light Yagami became Kira
Lights manipulation skills are so great.
I think he is having better manipulation skills than L.
It would have been good that light used his manipulation skills for good and not for evil
1:00 *What a gentleman, offering his phone.*
One of my favorite scenes ever in anime. It’s so sick but so good
Well i love Light...even more than L
But...
This broke my heart
This scene alone pretty much confirms my theory that Light Yagami is Kira.
It's subtly hinted at throughout the show, but this scene alone confirms my suspicion.
💀
I believe at this moment there was no more redemption as he fully embraced the name Kira that moment when he began killing anyone who got in his way even a innocent woman
She wasn’t innocent. She got involved in a case that she shouldn’t have and she had critical information Light couldn’t afford to be known.
That girl is not innocent she did have crucial information that light didn't want known so he had to find a way to kill her
@@alex5rebooted448oh yes because having information totally prevents you from being innocent. Its not like he brought her to himself by killing her fiance.
@@divoulos5758 no one asked her to, play with fire you get burned lol
@@divoulos5758 if she wanted to be innocent she should have minded her business and not gotten involved in a case that had nothing to do with her. It sucks but it’s not her case, she’s not an investigator anymore.
"Oh..well....I guess it's because.......because I'm Kira...!" will forever be one of the best lines in anime history imo.
In a way this scene alludes that Light is a horrible person. It plays incredibly sad music over it as he even toys with her as she walks away. So sure he may reduce the worlds crime rates by 70% and stop wars but he kills innocent me and even grieving widows.
ikr TT
I wouldn't call them "innocent" when they are chasing him ... But what ever
@@yuseiyusei7941 how does chasing a serial killer makes you a criminal? Everyone who did that was 100% innocent, ofc I know Light killed them for self preservation, but everyone knows that. The point is that they _were_ innocent
@@cadmallard who said they are "criminals"
@eliora-magical 2 years late but what ever I’ll answer anyway . Tell me where do i type about the law or what happens when you break it?
Nah this shit broke my heart, reading him begging for his life couldn’t even fix the absolute hatred I had for him in this moment
Epic foreshadowing where Light likes to celebrate early victory before the outcome just like with Near
he sort of did it with Raye Penber too
This moment... The BEST!
“Bro just ask her out it will be fine”
Her after me asking her out:
She got that "ah shi-" face fr
This was executed so well but it would have been so satisfying to see her avenge her husband.
But he wouldn't have a choice but to use the shinigami eyes
First time watching this part gave me the biggest goosebumps. One of the best moments in the entire show
All she wants to do is find Kira and then he goes and tells her hes Kira. The realization and then not caring the next second.
You can't react once he has your name down lol so I doubt Naomi would try to stop him or eraise the name
I find it hilarious that people say light should’ve won after he does shit like this, y’all are actual psychopaths
This scene, along with the music, always makes me cry.
If it was it for Yagami who started it all things will never be the same as before. 😔
This gave me chills when I first watched this holy shit, especially at the end when the noose appears, and it still does.

Its weird to look a light since the creator said he changed his design as he became more insane over the course of the show, and for the first time in the show you can tell the difference (along with when they revert to his old character design when he loses his memory)
What makes this scene so dark is light's psychopathic glee after knowing he just killed her
I don't know why, but I feel if Light had the Shinigami eyes, he would truly be unstoppable.
The only reason why he was caught is because he had to gather information at times and that made him suspicious. If he had the eyes, he would of truly won.
Coldest anime scene ever
I wasn’t attached to this character, but I nearly cried because of the visuals alone 😭
This is the moment light became Heisenberg
Imagine if the ID she gave him had a fake name on it to….
To think, after all the hope he gave her, he took it all away within the last seconds of free will.
this was an amazing scene based on lights willingness to earn her trust to gain her name, they show the exact moment he gets excited & she is destroyed for a reason, she knew all the rules about the ‘death note’ but she didn’t know how ruthless light was.
I genuinely cried.
Like someone watching through a window that could not break. I was banging on it screaming Naomi's Name.
I didn't want her to die 😢
What makes this scene so impactful to me is he gives her just enough time for her to realize just how screwed she is. The real malice he shows towards her because this was a personal kill.
He gave her the same treatment as he did with Ray Penber.
If she would have given another alias name as a decoy to kira , this series could have been finished in episode 7
😂😂😂😂
And that moment when light mocked her saying my father is available for call is the time when he become totally evil.
0:38 when you see your crush kissing another guy

One of the saddest parts🥹😭
The episode where I started to long for this Psychopathic maniac to get caught and pay for his wrongdoings.
Light shoudlve never lost this mans was crazy 😂😂😂😂😂
1:00 Sadistic monsterspawn.
Light does it here and everyone’s like ooooo, he does it with near everyone calls him a idiot for cleobrating too early
It's foreshadowing kiras' downfall if you really think about it. 😢
I wasn't even mad at Light because first of all I didn't know this Naomi enough to be moved by it secondly you have to remember that it was Ryuk's fault who brought the notebook to the human world to have fun
He didn’t put the notebook there on purpose but he just stayed because he had to and happened to find it interesting
The image of her and those stairs with the noose has stuck with me ever since I first saw it. It's one of the most heartbreaking deaths in fiction for me.
This was the point of no returning when he fully embraced being Kira
It’s a real shame. This character died so soon she didn’t just seem determined to take down Kira, but she was beautiful too.
According to me Light was right ......those who were killed by him were either criminals or those who were chasing him (l,fbi, naomi etc) they all who were innocent could have died of encounters , bomb blast etc as they were cops .
HIS THOUGHT WAS VERY GOOD DESIRING OF AN IDEAL WORLD.
He could have only killed psychopaths and rapists, killing thiefs is brutal there would be people among them who steal because of hunger or poverty
@@shaileshlprabhu1435 Well, they won't be hungry for long then, thanks to Light.
... dark humor aside, crime is crime. People who commit crimes are not good people. They had other options, and chose to hurt others (people who are often struggling themselves, yet chose to do things the right way) for personal gain. There's no excuse for that.
@@xSilentZeroXxCongratulations, you missed the point of the show. Media literacy is truly dead.
Best scene in the whole damn show. Face to face with Death.
The only flaw in Light is that on last minute he reveals his identity.... At last it's the only reason they got him
Ironic how both the genius Kiras messed up only because they arrogantly revealed their identity. (Light and Kira Yoshikage)
Could you please explain? He got caught at the end of the anime wether if he revealed his identity or not he was done
Armando
The fact that Kimaki didn't write Light's name on the Note book in the ware house is enough to seal the deal.

I desperately wanted Light to grasp for air and die hopelessly! Ending was made so satisfying!
"Why yes, I'd like to speak to him a moment, first"

This was a totally based move, whats the point in winning against someone who'd see you behind bars for life if you can't rub it in a little.
