    Coming from an early 2013 MacBook Pro, this has been a game changer. Portability and new chip a much needed upgrade. I just love that I don't hesitate now to take my laptop anywhere now. Great video, love the aesthetics.

    I forgot to mention that when I was researching and watching reviews before I purchased this 15 inch MacBook Air, the biggest complaint, I seem to hear was about the speakers so much so I actually went to a store that had one on display so that I could listen to it before I purchased. I spent a good amount of time today watching videos for a training course I’m taking and the sound was great whether it was music or dialogue. I had no complaints. What I buy the laptop if all I was planning on doing was watching movies or gaming or something where I really needed top-notch sound probably not, however I have no complaints at all over the speakers for the things I plan to use it for.

    I recently got the 15 in MacBook air and LOVE IT! I did choose the 512 SSD to have a bit more storage but I'm the person you mentioned this is best for. I'm finishing up grad school and afterwards plan to do a lot of writing so I'll mostly be using Google Workspace apps or other web based products. I plan to do some very light photo and video editing and I think this device will work nicely for what I want to do. Being in my 50's I REALLY appreciate the larger screen coming from the 13 inch MacBook Air. Thanks for another great video.

      If I appreciate it at my 40s, let me tell you, the screen is so comfortable, and typing for long sessions as well. I had the budget to buy the 14 pro refurb under 1400 but I decided to save some $ and make the air kinda future proof at 16/512, vets discount plus refurb. I guess apple support would be the same as the M3 lineup since the 15 was launch in 2023.

    Great! But have you found a true 15" sleeve for the MacBook Air 15? The 16 inch sleeves are just too big. Nice video. I have the MacBook Air 13 (air flight) AND the MacBook Pro 16 (powerhouse). The MacBook Pro 14 just doesn't fit since I use the Macs for Adobe CC (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and video editing. The MBA 15 keeps up quite well, I am definitely glad I bought it. If you can afford it, I would not recommend the base model.

    Thanks for the review. I went through a long process of trying to decide between the Air and the Pro and in the end I opted for a refurbished M1 Pro 14 (16GB/1TB with the unbinned chips). It has more power than I need at this time but I wanted to do some future proofing.

    8 GB is okay to have an app running today. It is not okay for prolonged use, for starting an application while keeping a browser with 20 tabs open etc. Your 8 GB test with M2 Air 13" was with an older MacOS version which uses less RAM for itself.

    I’m going to buy a MacBook Pro as soon as the new models come out later this year. I have an M1 Air and an M1 iPad Pro (with magic keyboard) and I’ll sell them; the Air is a base model and it was love at first sight… but as soon as I bought an LG Ultrafine 4k to hook it up to my 8GB ram showed its limits. I run my MacBook with 7 gigs always filled and 1 to 2 gigs of swap active, and I am by no means doing anything heavy ever in my day. I’m a student, but I’m close to the end of my studies and I need a laptop that will last. The iPad on the other hand will have to go… iPad OS 17 is the last chance I’m giving it. I own an 11”, the 13” is now 2k euros in Italy (with keyboard and pencil) and that price is nowhere close to being sane; for that price, the OS should be a tank and get through everything you ask of it with no bs limitations. And I’m sorry, but this is not just an opinion, it’s facts. I love the iPad Pro and it’ll be a sad day when I’ll sell it, but at this point it’s not worth the money dude… you either have plenty of money to spare, or you shouldn’t buy an iPad Pro

    I’m thinking about buying a new personal Mac next year, but am not sure what to go with. I’m a UI/UX designer that works from home. I have my work issued 2018 i9 MBP 15” with 32gb of ram and a personal gaming PC. I don’t really use my gaming pc for non-gaming usage because I prefer MacOS to Windows. 99% of the time I’m at my home desk, but once every week or two I like to work from a coffee shop. I mostly work in Webflow, and Figma. But will use photoshop and illustrator a bit for general design work. I’m trying to choose between the following:
    A) Get a Mac mini when they get m3 chip for work and personal and take my intel work laptop to work remotely
    B) Spec up a MacBook Air
    C) Get a MacBook Pro
    99% of the time the device will be connected to a 120hz 32” 4k display
    I fantasize about the lightweight MacBook Air, but I’m not sure if it’s powerful enough and like you said, once you start upgrading it’s in MBP range. And the Mac mini is just so good for the money.
    I feel like a refurbished m2 pro is probably the most bang for the buck

    • @ByteReview
      @ByteReview  6 місяців тому

      I think a MacBook Pro is the right move here, the 14" is still nice and portable and if you're only heading out occasionally then the power at home will be more important and useful

    • @geraxho
      @geraxho 6 місяців тому

      Getting a pro makes sense for you, if you'll take your work everywhere then yes bc you need the power to be efficient on the go. C seems best choice. One laptop for everything.
      Option A would be good but the jump from intel to M chips is huge. Idk how the M3 mini would perform against a Mac studio refurbished being the M1 max chip at 32ram + able to connect up to 5 screens I think. That's like a rig power. And having a 15 air on the go, but that sums up to about 2600 or more. At that rate the best of both worlds is a 16 pro M3.

    Typing this comment on my base model 13" M2 Air. This thing has been a beast for me. Including weekly use in Photoshop and audio editing. The 15" looks great too, but I use my laptop in clamshell mode docked at my desk about 95% of the time. No need for me to upgrade, but either size of the M2 Air would be a great machine for the vast majority of users.

    As usual with Apple, the base model 8 GB of RAM and 256GB of low speed disk is a spec from 10 years ago. Upgrading to a more decent 16GB and 512 SSD, and you are in the premium price range category. The M3 is just around the corner, so it is an odd decision to launch the 15" with the M2. No wonder the Air 15 is not selling. I will wait for the next model.

    • @geraxho
      @geraxho 6 місяців тому

      @@phillipgnaulol that's exactly what I did, got a starlight 16/512 for 1295, refurbished and it had 3 battery cycles, that thing is new 😅. I decided to get it bc it has better battery life and bigger screen, lighter, more comfortable to type than on a pro 14, I don't edit videos or anything like that and if I want to listen music I'll use an external speaker which even a 16 pro cannot come close, or on the go I'll wear headphones like 98% of ppl working in a public place, making the speakers on a pro mostly unusable. If I wanted to edit videos I would just buy a refurb studio max for around 1300, which would be able to connect 5 monitors I believe? So far the air has been outstanding.
