I get the feeling that a lot of people don't know about this song but I'm glad there's a lot of other people who do. It's amazing and it's how true country music should sound
I was a Navy Corpsman, there is a song about Corpsmen- They call me Doc. There are several versions of it now but the original is by a duo called Walker McGuire. They were out on tour and met a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. He told them about what we do in the service and this song is the result
I have heard this many times and I cry every time. Back when country was good ( I know people will get on me for that comment) but its my opinion. This is why so many reactors are jumping on the oldies country band wagon. ❤❤❤❤
The guy who wrote the song plays “private malone” in the video. He also said they accidentally backed the car into a shed on scene and had to pay to get it fixed.
My grandpa LOVED this song. He use to play it on his guitar and sing it. He was my absolute best friend and he passed away when I was about 12. I cry every time I hear it. ❤❤
Do you know that there’s a story about that thousand dollars a true story. When the guys would get out of Vietnam or getting ready to get out of Vietnam, they would be given a financial allotment that they paid into while they were in the service that money would be given to them in a check and the check would buy the vehicle when they get out of the service. The young man that bought the Corvette he bought it with that. Thousand dollars there was all kinds of small stories like that that are so interesting but it makes sense when you realize why he had the thousand dollars to pay for that car. I just love that song. I love it makes me cry every time I listen to it. ! Ps , play When the thought of you catches up to me , by David Ball. You’ll like it I know you will ! He was one of our favorite country singer !
I truly believe there are angels among us. The number of stories I have heard where some unknown figure pulls someone from a fire, or from the wreckage of a car, or from falling onto subway tracks, is astounding.
Heard this song on the radio when my brother was deployed overseas back in mid 2000's. I had to pull over on the freeway to cry. Thankfully my brother made it home. But so many have not.
My grandpa was and will always be my hero, he was also a Vietnam Veteran, so a hero to all. Him, and I spent many summers driving out to our families ranch in Montana visiting family, and staying up way to late listening to this song, and This Cowboys Hat by Chris LeDoux with some others as well! He had a 77 Vette, him and I spent a lot of time putting back together and getting her where he dreamed it to be! I lost him on the 2nd of June this year, now whenever I drive that car I can say I'm proud to be riding with my grandpa, as I too get a glimpse of him if I find myself looking at the passenger seat just quick enough! Lovely song, miss and love you grandpa
I think many people make fun of it because the emotions are so strong that when you let yourself feel them they can sometimes overwhelm you and anyone who feels that will naturally shy away from it. Kind of like touching a hot stove. But if you have the courage to listen, you experience the beauty and you grow. Thank you for letting us join your growth journey.
I grew up in Kansas. My neighbor three doors down had a blue 66 corvette in his backyard. Tried to buy it several times. He wouldn’t sell. It was his son who didn’t make it home from Vietnam. I went off in the military in 1989 and when I came home on leave he had sold it and moved away.
My dad is a Vietn vet. When I first heard this I got tears in my eyes. I have tge same reaction today. I wa not able to join the military but I honor and listen to all songs that honor those that gave their all.
That last verse gets me each time. I come from a military family and I'm so thankful each one made it home I remember my cousin being in the war on the front lines and each time I heard about bombings I would think God please let him be safe
So when I was little I was homeschooled by a family that lived about 30 minutes away. Every morning, without fail, my mom would drive me there and we would listen to this burned CD with random songs we loved- mostly country. This song was without a doubt one of our favorites. To this day hearing it just brings me back to those long, sunny car rides in the morning. For just a couple minutes it's like having her back again. 😢
This song never got the love it should have got when it came out back in 98...its on my cruising Playlist for these back roads in Michigan where I live.
This song has been a favourite of mine since it was released and yes we all owe a lot to those who put their lives on the line for us...I am pleased that the messages of country music have found their way to your channel...the lessons found in these songs are timeless....looking forward to more of your reactions...Karl from eastern Canada😄😄😄🍁🍁🍁
I cried when I heard it the first few times… I like to have music playing in the background and firey crash toned my brain into the song and I replayed it and cried soo hard 🥹
Freedom is not free but some of us will pay the price foeveryone. I love the last verse private Malone was still saving his countrymen even after he gave the last full measure a man can give.
Amen brother. That song was based on a story told by son's father. Needless to say the father still has his son's pick up and drives it around. I guess a lot of people didn't get to see the interview with the father but he was talking about how his son passed while he was serving our country. And every time he wanted to fill his son being with him and driving with him he would get in his son's pickup and drive it around. Like I said the father still has his son's pick up even now. But there is a lot of sisters, fathers and mothers and of course brothers or battle buddies that were left with their loved ones vehicle and they drive them around just to remember them by. God bless our military past and present. My heart breaks for the ones that have lost their loved ones.💔💔💔💔😢😢😢🙏🙏🙏 And God Bless ALL our VETERANS and all the military that are still serving our country now. My thoughts and prayers are with ALL of y'all. And definitely my prayers are with the families ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 of our military. May GOD BLESS and look over all of y'all. ❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋🙏🙏
My husband and I got to go listen to David Ball at a little bar in Idaho. This was the last song he sang. One of my favorite songs. Thanks for your reactions. ❤
Holy cow! I haven't heard this song since I was teenager! My dad was Army when I was real young so I always had an interest. I never really planned on joining myself but after 9/11.... That was out the window. This song came out in 2001 if I am not mistaking.... Last time I heard it was before basic training so pre 2005. LOVE THIS SONG! Sorry for the life story lol
this is another song that ears .. first for my brothers who fought for me and then 2nd.... the incredible zing of the rythmn guitar and the mix of the drums and bas to accent the song ... simple is so very powerful .. like Allison Kraus ... this song makes a texture of the warmth to the lyric ... this is a favorite
I love this song. It's a simple tune but beautiful song. Every time I listen to it I choke up and get tears in my eyes thinking about all the people that die making sure that others can live their dreams in peace.
I'm not even the least big religious but I ALWAYS get goosebumps at the reveal of Private Malone saving the driver. I don't really ever get goosebumps but ever since I was young, this song and that verse specifically gave them to me lol
I remember this song from when it first came out. Being a car guy,I thought about it as just about the dream of the car. Hearing your reaction made me think about all of the dreams our service members gave us for us. Towards. The end he talks about the fiery crash. It makes me think about country today. It gives me hope that memories from the past will pull us through
thank you sebs D- i love that u love storytellin with country music ! and YES we do like to see you cry! lol - thats why we love music ! hits the heart where its supposed too! been a long time fan ! my first one with you was carrie underwood how great thou art ! with u on the treadmilll! i will never forget it ! ur a great soul with a great music heart ! love to u and urs ! cant wait to see other vids ! always a big fan ! take care of u and urs
Love this song. It’s great when we feel have those that “ride along with us”. And bless those that gave up so much for us. Thank you seb for letting us see these old songs through your eyes. More younger people need to watch them. Have a suggestion for you. It’s “the one I loved back then (The corvette song) by George Jones. It has a good story.
David Ball's first album is a national treasure - songs like "Look What Followed Me Home", "Thinkin' Problem", and "When the Thought of You Catches Up With Me", are CLASSICS.
One of the best songwriters that tells a story is Tom T Hall. He tells it (life) like it is. More often than not he shows the funny side. My favs are "Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine" and "Faster Horses" Check him out, I think you will like his songs.
I haven’t heard this song in a very long time. Hearing now, I had to stop it before the first chorus was over. Hearing it as a mid-40s woman is very different than hearing it in my early 20s.
If you haven't already heard it, check out Big & Rich "8th of November" it has an intro by Kris Kristopherson, it's another great patriotic country song.
The hardest part for me is the woman who sold him the “Chevy” for $1000 held onto it for 30 years. That woman was either his mom, sister or wife and it took 30 years for her to be able to let his dream go after his death. While our service men have certainly sacrificed their life and limb for 200+ years of the US’s existence, the women waiting back at home have also sacrificed their sons, husbands, boyfriends, fathers and brothers.
I never listened to country when I was a teen or in college. My husband is a musician and he was asked to join a friend’s band. It was county. Turned me around quickly 😂
I wanna say ive always loved the story telling and patriotism of country music, but then when i see how we treat our warriors I'm just sad and disappointed with us
Watched this video as I fold my husbands uniforms ❤ the packers come tomorrow to move our house for our third duty station with the Army my husbands fourth (prior Marine) so thankful for the sacrifices of men and women before and alongside him.
Wonderful reaction. I know you may not be able to get to it as a reaction - if you can just listen to it , Billy Ray Cyrus has a song called - Some Gave All ; which is the title cut of the album it's from.
I get the feeling that a lot of people don't know about this song but I'm glad there's a lot of other people who do. It's amazing and it's how true country music should sound
A soldier turned guardian angel for a fellow soldier. You can't get this any better.
Country music is the most patriotic genre.
I was a Navy Corpsman, there is a song about Corpsmen- They call me Doc. There are several versions of it now but the original is by a duo called Walker McGuire. They were out on tour and met a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. He told them about what we do in the service and this song is the result
awesome song. highly recommend.
"You guy's are the Marines' doctors; There's no better in the business than Navy Corpsman," - Chesty Puller
Thanks Doc 😎
Thank you for your service ❤

You are not the only one that feels that way.
Same here!
I feel the same way
The guy who wrote the song plays “private malone” in the video. He also said they accidentally backed the car into a shed on scene and had to pay to get it fixed.
Thom Shepard. I went to school with him in Winchester VA. Still keep in touch. Great guy and 2x cancer survivor
way too many like private Malone didnt make it back home , very proud that I served with these Hero's during my tour in RVN...
My grandpa LOVED this song. He use to play it on his guitar and sing it. He was my absolute best friend and he passed away when I was about 12. I cry every time I hear it. ❤❤

Brothers and sisters, welcome home. To the fallen, salute.
Another song I think you would love is “July in Cheyenne”, by Aaron Watson. It’s about bull-riding legend Lane Frost’s last ride, and tragic death.
I left a similar letter in the glove box of my truck both times I deployed in '07 and '10
David Ball was a highly under rated artist. Love his music. This song makes me tear up. I spent 28yrs in the Army, Infantry. It is a very good song.
I am a disabled veteran sir and thank you

I remember this being on the radio. Beautiful story.
same reason why I've loved this genre my whole life, nobody tells a story quite like country music
I first heard this song working the night shift as an Army Nurse. I cried my eyes out. I still cry every time I hear this song.
You are by far my favourite reactor and this is one of my favourite songs of all time! MLAR!!

David Ball is so good.
