I also agree that they gotta print some really good grass Pokémon. Ever since Forest of Giant plants, there has never been an S tier grass deck, most grass attackers are only used as techs in other decks. Gardenia feels almost insulting. It is literally a worse Welder, even Sada draws 3 cards.

If Iron Leaves didn't need 2 grass energies to attack, I think it would be a tech in many decks. 1 grass is manageable as a package, like Iron Hands with 1 electric, but 2 has to be part of the deck core strategy.
The problem is the deck has a very high power ceiling and a very low skill floor. Anybody can pick it up and if they draw hot just end your game with little skill or thought put in to it.

It's a great deck, but it's not unbeatable. I think Mew VMAX was far worse though. Having all that draw power with Genesect was absurd and they didn't ban it. Charizard is just popular, so people are going to play it because of that. It's got weaknesses besides grass, item lock kills the deck. Without getting the quick evolution it kind of sits flat.

It has high HP and if you can't knock it quickly enough , It easy to comeback and ready to attack with more damage output. That's why there aren't any pokemon worth for prize trade with it right now.
Personally, I don't feel Charizard is as powerful as Mew, Lugia pre rotation, or ADP were. Strong meta decks like Chien-Pao, Lugia, and control have a good matchup, and any deck can play Iono/TM devolution to cripple it. I just hope they don't give it more tools in the future.
i play banette/espathra right now. i have with this deck only problem with lugia and arceus. Zard is a out win if i dont brick. Banette stops at the start candys and i have more then enough time to start building my board. Same for Poe. :)
I would freak out if they banned Zard. My two main decks I feel I go even if not favored into Zard. So, I want to see all the Zard as I can. I play Control and Lost Tina.
Zard is so braindead of a deck. You just get candy zard no matter what turn on your second turn. You can still get iono to 1 and your topdeck will be either a way to get zard or candy or a supporter to draw your deck out to get them both and win like that.
I think zard shows integral problems with Pokemon TCG (rather than deck being a real issue): - Pokemon TCG is so cheap that top meta is everywhere. This doesn't happen in MTG and yugioh where low level locals have kitchen table level decks. Zard is cheaper than most decks. - Casual players have unrealistic expectations of what a healthy meta looks like. 8 different decks in top 8 with absurdly bad cards like incineroar ex doing good is not possible. This is as good as it gets, you always have a best deck. - Charizard is too popular. Win ratio is in sync with other decks, but people still plays zard over those. What can the company do about that? - Most sets are pack filler. Stuff like incineroar ex and torterra ex are outright unplayable on purpose, limiting options.
APD never copped a ban either, despite gatekeeping single prize decks out of an entire format. Zard is great optics for the game too. Mascot Pokémon being in the meta are always going to be a popular pick just from nostalgia alone.

I do not think it needs to get banned its just that pokemon tcg does not print any good as you said tech cards, or in general no good grass typing support to make grass types at least somewhat competitive to counter act against the deck.
I dont know I think Raging Bolt ex is very underrated right now. At least in online I play against some Tinas, Zards and Moons decks in 10 games I maybe win in 7 of them. But I never see this Pokemon in almost no decklist in the current tournaments. Maybe its good for me thou 😂
Well considering how strong Lugia used to be I will say that I don't mind Charizard since it's not as strong as Lugia once was. Also I think it comes down to how you prepare for the matchup like how lost tina plays iron leaves ex and has star requiem as an option as well. In my opinion I don't think Charizard itself is a problem I think it primarily comes down to whether other players are prepared to deal with Charizard and tech for it in the decks there playing.
Honestly, I hate Zard ex for surviving a lot of non meta stuff. Garchomp ex can't 2HKO it without any boosts and Simisage would only need 110 base power instead of 100 to OHKO with Super effective glasses. Of course these are fun decks, but Zard is also just stupidly good on its own...

I can only recall losing to a zard, like, twice and that was because of some seriously bad luck (all my flittle became prize cards in one and I just could not draw an energy for the life of me in the other). But I want to stress, I play *casual*. So players doing stuff like not putting all three energy on their zard and assuming it will be enough to attack is quite *common*. I don't know how well it will hold up in the actual competitions.
Its a good card but bad for the game, being able to crush any deck that stands in its way on the 2nd turn (literally 230 dmg to a basic ex if you use max belt) AND being able to pick any card you need every turn obviously isnt good for the game and rogue decks struggle. Though playing around them is also fine, i play ancient box, lugia, and other rogue decks and just play around them.
The problem is laziness. People don’t want to adapt and slay the beast, so they either let themselves get eaten, or fight with the beast. Iron Leaves is a great option for a quick ohko on Zard, and next set we’ll get Iron Thorns which turns off abilities

I believe only Lost Tina, Arctina, and some Turbo Hands decks consistently run it, and even in those decks, it requires some setup to be effective. Even if you do get Leaves, it's a 2-2 trade, so you're not gaining a lot. It's not laziness; people are trying to deal with it and run techs to help the matchup; it's just that hard ex is an overstated card and is able to dominate the format because of it.
A good reason to put my Zard ex deck in an Album rather than in competitive scene. Its an Overkill and low effort needed. Ive encountered this deck many times in TCG live and i got only a handful of victories against it.
Is a terrible counter. All you really have to do as a zard player is combine boss & catcher and vulpix is done for. (Gust whatever, then bring back vulpix to the active and ohko it).

330hp self attaching cards ability, only 2 fire energies 180 and additionally 30 for each prize card, this answers themselves, i've been playing against charizard using roaring moon and lost tina, tie on moon and even harder on tina. the only way to beat this card is pokemon company to stop worshipping this shit dragon and adding a full grass counter deck specifically designed to take down that asshole (btw i own that deck 😅)
Charizard is overrated, and can be easily beaten. proof of that is that gardevoir deck, which is supossed to be very weak to charizard, and there it is in third place.
I actually don't want it to be banned to be honest. I just want a strong grass deck in the format at one point. Charizard ex is not as dominant as Lugia VSTAR was during Silver Tempest. There are actually answers to it which is good. Temporal Forces is just a tier 0 format where Charizard is 20% and the 2nd most popular deck only 10%. Let's hope Twilight Masquerade spices things up a bit.

I actually don't want it to be banned to be honest. I just want a strong grass deck in the format at one point. Charizard ex is not as dominant as Lugia VSTAR was during Silver Tempest. There are actually answers to it which is good. Temporal Forces is just a tier 0 format where Charizard is 20% and the 2nd most popular deck only 10%. Let's hope Twilight Masquerade spices things up a bit.

Zard is so beatable just get good lmao the biggest problem in the pokemon tcg is that 99% of players can NOT build a deck for themselves they HAVE to net deck or they are completely lost
