That's the question from military families CBS 8 talked to after the servicemen and women received an increase in their basic housing allowance.
The basic housing allowance, or BAH was supposed help alleviate some of the economic problems those military families are facing. But as CBS 8 learned, some of the families say they won’t see a dime.

my house on base is owned by a company. and the rent was raised 2 times in the single year i've been here. 1500 - 1700
thats how much housing costs here..
Just like non military base houses. What I know of. A lot of them like to pocket the BAH and not get a job

They just want to pocket the money. Military housing already including water and electricity. Those spouses want live good but don't want to pay. They just stay at home and do nothing. All they do is to start drama

@@kennickelson9070 this is why a lot of active duty join the military right away then get married so they can get more money. This is why the divorce rate is really high in the military. They will married people who they barley knew. It's even more sad when there's kids involved and those spouses just stay at home to find stuff to complain and start drama 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

Welcome to life, wait till ya'll get out the Navy, you'll be in for a big surprise. I retired but got the fk outta Navy Housing on year 14 and moved to Temecula area. Its a drive for a few years but you have to move outta Navy housing at some time. Depending on how much and availability consider civilian especially if they are making you pay utilities.
Someone needs to investigate solutions for change as well , they got so much funding and are only housing their employees and not doing much for the homeless communities. These kind of gov. Programs are the most corrupt.

There is base housing,they just chose not to live on base.and under this admin,who are they suprised the military is the least of their priorties.that would not be under republican president, admin.
There is very minimal base housing mostly reserved for officers. All base housing is run by Liberty military housing as is off base housing. Service members take what is available, there's not a lot of choosing going on. Plus families are waiting weeks to months to get in housing and are on the hook for hotels or short term rentals. Everyone is experiencing the housing crisis.
I know! Talk to your congressman. That would be a good use of your time. Also, vote on the stupid american election coming up this year and make sure you pick the right man, in your two lame-ass choices that you get. Coke, or Pepsi?? Free choice. God bless the freedoms our soldiers fight for. When I was a soldier I only did the work for three meals and a warm soft bed.
