Gary Garratt I miss the days of going through a turnstile, straight into the stands and to your seat. No faff, no bars and restaurants. Just a great atmosphere.
The novelty wears off. The Houston Astros led MLB in attendance in 1965, but fans eventually stopped coming until they actually had a decent baseball team.
The Rams averaged over 70,000 for the 2018 season. The renovated Memorial Coliseum will seat 78,000. It seats about 77,000 now with construction going on. I went to 4 games this year and every game had over 70,000.
Also, The Largest Cricket Stadium in the world is being constructed at Ahmedabad, India. Set for completion in May 2019, it will have a capacity of 110,000 people.
There's a point, if Australia hosted a world cup or super bowl people would have to become nocturnal to watch it. Must be shit being a fan of Soccer or American Footie down there. "Murray! Late again ya son of a gala!" "Was up at 3am watching Bayern Munich, ya drongo!" "Fair dinkum, ya dunny licker!"
God we've come a long way since stadiums like Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Cleveland's Municipal Stadium, Ebbets Field, the Polo Grounds and old Yankee Stadium in New York, Briggs Stadium (Detroit), Kansas City's Municipal Stadium, Kesar Stadium in San Francisco, Buffalo's War Memorial Stadium, Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, Crosley Field in Cincinnati, Shibe Park in Philadelphia, Griffith's Stadium in Washington DC, County Stadium, Milwaukee, Sportsman's Park in St. Louis and others I haven't mentioned. I miss those character-filled venues where the game was what you came to see but the feeling of being in those great ballparks simply couldn't be replicated. Today's stadiums are cool for sure, but they're so modern that I'm almost afraid to spill my drink, drop any peanut shells or leave any refuse under my seat. It's just not the same.
The Chargers couldn’t sell out the stadium down here in SD, and can’t even sell out a 30,000 seat soccer stadium, so it is doubtful that they will even come close to selling out in the new stadium once it is open.
Many stadiums are built with away support in mind. In Spain many stadiums are many times larger than the local team can hope to fill but when Real Madrid or Barcelona visit it is payday for them.
The Chargers need to relocate now. It's clearly not working out in L.A. I'm just wondering how long the NFL will allow this to go on considering the fact they didn't want to Chargers in L.A. in the first place.
Perth Stadium (Now Optus Stadium) scrapped the retractable seating for football and rugby (league or union). It will remain an oval for all sports. Which, despite being a football fan personally, makes the most sense as the primary sports will be AFL and cricket.
It didn't exactly scrap retractable seating. It was never in the brief. What it does have (which was in the brief) is 8 row bleachers that get put in front of the raised ground tier. SkylineToTheSeaAndMe Fair enough. You'd have to say though that the new Tottenham stadium deserves its place in the list? The world's first dividing retractable pitch is pretty innovative and ensures nothing like that anywhere else too.
The Las Vegas stadium is Only being built at a cost o 1.9 billion dollars and will hold only 66000 seats meanwhile the stadium being built in Inglewood California will privately financed at a cost of 2-6 billion dollars and will hold 80000 seats and be expanded to 100000 seats the Los Angeles stadium project is vastly superior to Las Vegas in every conceivable way
I don't think he arguing that. He is just saying that it should be listed as well because its up there in price point and is a very cool stadium. yes the price he mentions was wrong as it is under 2 billion.
Perth Stadium is not the multi-purpose venue everyone hoped for. The stadium cannot actually be truly reconfigured for rectangular fields, there's only the addition of a few shallow-raked rows in an oval formation. The actual stadium seats, either in the ground tier or the top levels, don't move at all. There is also no sliding roof for cricket; so if it rains, the cricket stops. There is also no facility to blank out the top tiers to maintain the atmosphere of smaller events, à la BC Place in Vancouver. The current capacity of the ground is too small for an Olympic bid, though it may be expanded in the future. It's a great ground for AFL football, but that's all it is; unfortunately, it's hardly multi-purpose.
I know that discussions have begun for a new retractable roof stadium stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. It would host the NFL Carolina Panthers and an MLS expansion team, future college basketball final fours, college football national title games and possible Super Bowl. No plans drawn yet but the now richest owner in the NFL, David Tepper, is determined to see it built. He's already building a completely new practice facility for the Panthers in just his second season as owner.

LA stadium cost is actually around $4.5 - $5 billion now
No it isn't. The $5 billion quote is for the entire development(housing, offices, lake, retail, etc.), the stadium itself is a lot less.
@@arnoldschwarzenegger8005 Actually no, the total will be around 10 billion with condos, retail, ect. When all done.

What about the Vegas Raiders stadium?
MrEnergyCzar raiders might stay in Oakland
