The Canadian Prime Minister has had a shocking week as the leader of a government that, alongside Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, honoured a 98-year old veteran who fought alongside Nazi’s in WWII.
Yes, the optics were not good.
Justin Trudeau’s response to the incident has made the situation worse, with the Prime Minister refusing to take accountability for the disaster.

Well, didn't ONLY fight Nazis or those who collaborated with them from the start. USSR invaded and annexed then independent and neutral Estonia during WW2, committing a genocide there. USSR also tried to conquer Finland, being afraid that Finns would collaborate with Germans (which did happen, but precisely because of the Soviet invasion - Mannerheim pretty much disdained Hitler and considered siding with the USSR prior to the invasion, he sided with Germany for the first half of WW2 to prevent Finland from losing its sovereignity, later changing sides).

Strange that he left the Russians out of the list of peoples owed an apology over this. They lost 8-10 million military men and 26 million civilians fighting against the Nazis in WWII. I understand that JT is politically dead at this point but what bothers me is that Western media pushes 2 things out of this incident. 1)Neither of politicians said or indirectly mentioned that besides Jewish and Poles (and others) that Russians ethnics (all can be summarized as Slavs) were targeted by Nazi. While I understand the point of not creating propaganda for Russia government I fail to see why such big ommision is made and highlighted in video four times. 2)While Zelenski ancestry is Jewish it does not make the man Jewish. Some of the funds is used for "SS division" Azov and hundreds of streets under his rule was renamed to Bandera. It's complex, but if you know a bit about Ukraine during WWII you know that you definitely need to look into whoever you invite in that context. Ukraine itself has made this mistake many times over in the aftermath of the war. Not every Ukrainian who fought against the Soviets did so alongside the Nazis, and some of the ones that did, did so only out of necessity. This guy apparently volunteered for the SS though.

My grandfather was born in Ukraine in 1938, and he clearly remembers Nazis occupying and even "cleansing" the region where he lived in 1941 and 1942, and his father leaving to fight them and never returning.
By the way, most of the people in his village spoke Ukrainian, and most people in the closest big cities spoke mostly Russian. And both Russian and Ukrainian speakers were treated by Nazis as subhumans.
