The way I see it, each boss in Doctor Robotnik’s Plan B teaches you something different. Green Hill: spin dashing Marble: damage boosting Spring Yard: precision jumping Labyrinth: maintaining oxygen Star Light: aiming your jumps Scrap Brain: maintaining speed
Fun fact: Some of the bosses are actually completely taken instead of inspired, such as Labyrinth Zone's Boss from Sonic 1 SMS' Labyrinth Boss and the Final Boss from Sonic Triple Trouble's Final Boss.

Really cool to see Sonic ROM Hacks giving nods to other Sega franchises even if in this instance it probably wasn't intentional

As a bit of a correction the labyrinth zone boss in this ROM hack is kind of similar to the labyrinth zone Bossfight in sonic 1 8-bit and yes there are two versions of sonic one and the eight bit version is on both the Sega master system and the Sega game gear
I say all the fights are cool but what if this rom hack was in mari0 and you see bowser with a fire flower or giant bowser with the giant mushroom that will be amazing
Dr. Robotnik's Plan C? If this was in the real Sonic, i would have failed at marble . . . actually I would have just damage boosted. This was a very cool idea, a sort of hard mode for Sonic 1 bosses. Labyrinth Zone boss isn't even a boss, it's just giving Sonic a chance to bully Eggman, as, if I recall correctly, he doesn't even fight Sonic during that part of Sonic 1, and he's just running away, but Sonic CAN attack him, though it's not about defeating Eggman in that Zone, no, it's just surviving the traps Eggman has for Sonic there and to get to the end of the Act. Giving Sonic a chance to bully Eggman, reminds me of a boss fight in I think Sonic Mania, where Sonic steals Eggman's boss machine of sorts, and just drags up water to hurt Eggman by the blades at the bottom of that machine.
one thing i just realized... Robotnik's icon in the bottom right (also used for unused monitors in 1&2) has a blue shirt. Robotnik was once considered to wear pajamas before they came up with his final design (or any other part of the game, for that matter). Connected? (probably not, but still)
honestly I prefer the Egg Wrecker to have like that Sonic 4 Ep. I Splash Hill style pinch mode where Robotnik starts retracting the wrecking ball and then somersaults over to slam the ball into the ground.

They’re all actually quite creative, but the Spring Yard Zone and Labyrinth Zone bosses seemed like the most well thought out - and most challenging!

Yes! I think they made this sorta while working on the custom bosses for Scorched or something like that.
Right now they're working on a remake of Scorched, and from what shown on Painto's YT community posts, it looks really good.
