Almost thirteen years back it was posted ... and that is almost half the time Piers Courage had his life .. Thankyou for the video .. I like and fear these machines and how they bounce along incredible rough tarmac .. at some 300 km/h .. really 'driven', kept, slid, held, hurled, tamed .. to a great extent unpredictable .. fragile and wild and dangerous like hell .. and if I can see in the face of those drivers like in this film as well .. there sometimes is an almost elysian expression .. a total concentration and surrender at the same time .. melting the whole lot together . if you know what I mean 😗🌹
Poetically expressed. Thank you for sharing your impression. And yes: Time is sort of twisted. Being 29 now, I just kind of realized how brutally young he was when he deceased.
I used to Work for HW WARD who Sposored him & before his death his car was brought each year to the Factory in Worcester. All the Apprentices used to have there Photo taken in & around the car.
Honest Thanks to You & Respect for Making this Video. I'm Currently Researching Piers and this Footage is just Awesome. RiP, Piers - you are Not Forgotten.
Incredible! Don't know how you got all the footage, but hats off! Long time ago but almost seems like yesterday. A man from the past, for this moment right back into present times! I say it's a very descent memorial. UA-cam does surprise every now and then. Pics out of the early seventies, very rare... And there's still interest, that's what surprises me the most. Cheers Pierce!
I'm surprised that more didn't die during this area with the high front fins on the cars and the open face helmets still being worn. Seems like the small thing could have killed them (and I guess it often did.) Beautifully put together, some wonderful shots in there! Fantastic job and thanks for sharing.

50 years on, God bless him, I for one remember !!!
I also remember.
Nice tribute to a great man and driver.
Visited his resting place in Shenfield on Tuesday a peaceful part of England.
It's sad that we always have to lose drivers like Courage, Ratzenberger, Senna, Clark and more drivers like that..
Rest in Peace to all of them!
Practically nil safety precautions in those days - so many great drivers gone. Nice tribute - thanks.
My father saw his accident happening right before his eyes.
He told me when I was a child when I watched F1, so I was curious who it was.

Frank Williams has said that Piers spoke with unique style and humour, but I've never actually heard his voice.

Its a shame so much hopes were put on the De Tomaso and it cost him his life. Great driver and man.
