Hey I have a video idea idk if you guys like talking about you guys relationship online but I'm very interested in how you guys came about having a same sex relationship like how did you guys meet? Did someone pursue the other? How is your relationship now compared to others?
I recently found your channel, and I noticed I became hooked on your content. I kept wondering why, and I realize that your life is similar to mine. I'm Korean, gay, and grew up in a very religious household in America. Yet what fascinates me, is that your sexuality comes off as easy for you, meaning, I'm 50 years old and I didn't come out until I was in my 30s, but by then I had built up such a wall that I find it difficult to have a relationship. So for your generation to not make sexuality an issue, but just exist in your truth makes me so proud and impressed that the generation after has truly progressed. Thank you for filling this old man with so much!
Good to know you're having a great time there, it seems!! I sometimes consider it myself but there's always pros and cons. Gotta weigh out whether living in freezing cold is better than gloominess 😅
It can be gloomy during the winter (and spring.. and fall...), buuuut there are so many incredible vegan restaurants, options at local cafes, and farmers markets. Follow your foodie heart ;)
Darling Ryan looked absolutely exhausted. As an ex restaurateur, I could so identify with that level of tired. Another real & enjoyable vlog. Thanks Joe.
I was born and raised in Vancouver and moved from there to Barcelona Spain with my husband a couple of years ago. I would say you definitely got lucky weather wise with your first year there, I remember only a few years ago where I would swear I didn't see blue skies for about 9 months. I also noticed the difference now that I live in a much sunnier climate. Rent was okay but as someone who tried to put my new family roots down there, we were not able to afford buying a place there. I would also say that in terms of friendliness that Vancouver can be good for meeting others who were not born and raised there but if you try to make friends with the locals (born and raised) that gets a lot harder. It's a beautiful and wonderful place to live but we just couldn't make it work 🤷🏻♀️
I moved to Vancouver from Vancouver Island about 8.5 years ago. Honestly, I love living here. Yes, it’s expensive. But I truly think you get what you pay for, and it’s definitely doable with roommates.
Love your perspective. Currently living in Toronto and in process of moving to Vancouver Island. I think think that no matter where you go its all about what you put into it.
I was born in Burnaby, spent 10 years in the Okanagan (super hot but totally dry in the summer and averages 300 days of sunshine a year), then moved back to the Coast, finished high school, worked for a year, moved to Calgary for a few years and have been back here in the Lower Mainland ever since. I love Vancouver but I am planning to move back to the Okanagan where the cost of living is much lower. Weather here is generally fine. Yes, it rains but you don't have to shovel it! I remember 40 below in Calgary, a block heater in the car, and a foot or more of snow on top of the car in the morning. No thanks. Not ever again. The best thing about Calgary was not having provincial sales tax (and cheap gas). It really doesn't tend to rain all winter here, maybe 3-5 days in a week it will rain at least some of the time and be mostly cloudy. Most years we get one or two token "snowfalls" that are washed away by rain in hours. Every 3-5 years we seem to have a week or two of actual winter weather, with accumulations of snow that sticks. Nobody knows how to drive in it. If you guys are in Mount Pleasant (I thought you were actually DT or Yaletown), I'm just south of you in a laneway house with my teen and our toy poodle puppy (who *really* likes Jasper, and often comes to watch your videos if she hears his collar, or hears you talking to him!).
The rain thing is not BS at all. This year has been very mild, it can definitely be weeks of it raining most of the day and the forecast not showing any breaks for more weeks,
You better serve us some fresh face this morning. You’re skin is looking 💯 Quick questions 1. What shirt are you wearing? 2. Have you considered doing a Podcast?
i think I would want to live in vancouver for a bit of time. However, being born and raised in NYC, I know that NYC will be the place I end up long term
@@alejandro6823 i know nyc is constantly romanticized but coming from someone who’s seen both the good and bad side, I think the pros outweighs the cons! It’s not like it is depicted in movies buuuut it truly is a great place
There's a huge difference between East Coast and West Coast life. East Coast is a much busier, "in your face" kind of thing. West Coast is very chill, very laid back. People still work too much or get too busy in Vancouver, but it's not the same as the pace back East. I think people tend to prefer one style over the other. Both NYC and Vancouver are very High Cost of Living Areas, so it really doesn't matter. Go with what makes you feel most comfortable.
Born in Vancouver and used to worked downtown but I also grew up in tri-cities. Commuting sucks for sure but found rent was a little cheaper there. Now I live in Vancouver island and work remotely and don’t have to do any commuting lol
thanks for not being afraid to address issues like privilege & racial inequality--even casually. It doesnt have to be a huge conversation every time but it does have to be something that is continually addressed so thank you
That price ain't bad! I pay 2200 downtown, Toronto for a one bedroom + den. Although the rent has gone down here so we asked our landlord to decrease and it worked hehe
There may be a wide range of rents in van... But what you get for the money is definitely smaller and dumpier than other cities (Toronto & Halifax perspective). May not matter if you don't spend a lot of time at home but that's not life these days ~
I took a similar move to you (Calgary to Toronto) and when I moved to Toronto I literally experienced my first fall season because that does not exist in Calgary 😭😰.
What's covid like in Vancouver right now? I can't imagine going to work in a cofffeshop, going to the gym, or going out for dinner in my country right now 😅
Hii Joe.. I'm new to your channel.. How do you plan the job in Vancouver? I mean you said that you signed with your manager in your 1st week, do you contact the manager long before your moving? Sorry for my bad English 😊
Great video as usual Joe, And I hope you don't mind but I feel the need to express this since I have seen it and a couple of your videos. I've noticed that you are a bit aggressive waking your partner Ryan, up in the morning and usually it would not phase me however he does work not only a full-time job but very long hours and from the looks of it he works very very hard. And you are very blessed to work from home. So even though you don't want my advice I would strongly urge you that when he is off she cut him some slack and let him rest. Because once again if he gets totally burnt out and isn't able to recuperate after that then he will be no good to himself or to you both. Once again I hope that I haven't offended you but I felt that I should share that with you keep up the good work. DR. HOWARD,PH.D.
Well, it's got much cheaper housing, for sure, but the weather is far more extreme in the winter and being bilingual is pretty important. What specifically do you like about it?
can you believe it's already been a year??? also keep in mind $2800 CAD is $2225 USD ✌🏼

much love from australia mate! was living in jasper AB from 2018-2020 and loved my trips out to vancouver!
I just moved from Southern Ontario and I love the weather here. I live in the metro area and it is still very nice. I love the population density

Can you do a video on the basics of Canada? If they use credit scores & how long do you have to be on job to get an apartment ect?
Thanks for enlightening us on Vancouver living!
You better serve us some fresh face this morning. You’re skin is looking 💯
Quick questions 1. What shirt are you wearing? 2. Have you considered doing a Podcast?

i think I would want to live in vancouver for a bit of time. However, being born and raised in NYC, I know that NYC will be the place I end up long term
That honestly sounds amazing , I’ve been dreaming of living in nyc since I visited on 2016

Random question but does anyone k ow how he makes the cool long ice cubes?
You can buy silicone ice cube trays that make long thin ice cubes for next to nothing at IKEA.
That price ain't bad! I pay 2200 downtown, Toronto for a one bedroom + den. Although the rent has gone down here so we asked our landlord to decrease and it worked hehe

Why are you moving to a new place? Have you talked about that before? I don't recall.
@b.a.c.k.i.n.f.i.v.e on Instagram is based in Vic but I think they do deliveries in Vancouver, I definitely recommend them!
When you say that you signed with your manager, what exactly do you mean by that?
I’m about your size, is the MVT long sleeve in S or M?
You and your partner werent together before you moved right? How did you handle dating in a new city during the pandemic?
