Your embroidery eyes look amazing. lol. Honestly they really do. I think toffee, teddy bear, and Chocolate would make some great colors to make your merbabies. I wish I could get as much completed in a week as you do. I am struggling to get a tissue box cover done it is my 7th one. I am doing a Celtic weave on all of them. For Parfait Chunky I use Teddy Bear and Toffee for mermaids. Next time I place an order I want to try Chocolate and Espresso. They seem quite dark so may end up just being for hair. Mushroom also works for a light tan color.
Expresso is very dark. Chocolate is a beautiful color and great for fur colors.

What did you use to cut the eyes out?
@@KnottingHookCrochet cut with a wire cutter or on pliers they usually have a flat cutting center toward the bottom of the heads that would work. Your husband would probably know :)

Getting yarn is so frustrating for me. Gone are the days of going to the store to pick up what I need. Inventory is so poor. Order it, they say. Of course the store makes a much bigger sale and my stash grows while I still never have what I need, store doesn’t have it so I place another order…. Rinse and repeat. Meanwhile my stash is beginning to look better than my store’s inventory. It’s a plot? I think so but the only option is to purchase only what you need at a very high price. Rant over lol

100% agree with you that one brand of very popular yarn is very hard to work with. Many folks love it (that’s why there is so much of it)and I wish I knew the secret. Maybe a particular brand of hook? It’s so available and has great variety/color options but is so dense that it seems to resist the hook and stitches; such a struggle.

The beagle is so cute! The bottom of the feet with the brown pads really adds to the cuteness. The Friendly Red Fox (?) has a neck brace/insert thing you crochet, insert in head and body to make the head less floppy. You could try that with next mermaid.

I made a cow from a free ribblr pattern one time. It is very cute but the sew on patch was just slightly off of where it was suppose to be and my teenage son said it looked like a lopsided utter. Now I can't unsee it. But I was finished with it and I want going to move it. So I added a strap and it became a crossbody bag.

If all else fails with getting the safety eyes off you could smash them with a hammer. I've broken 2 safety eyes because I was hammering the backings on them and accidentally used too much force

Have you tried mushroom for the skin tone? Also thinking you may want to make some of your mermaids using teddy bear for a skin tone? I do not own these colors & it’s hard to tell on line how they would look, but you asked for suggestions. I think all your creations are precious! Thank you for sharing them with us!

Hi Robin. I can’t help but notice that the patches on your cows and other animals have such clean color changes. I am making a cow and I’m not happy with how the color change looks. It shows through. Does that make sense? Do you have a special method to change colors? Thank you.
I think the color always peaks through a little bit but what I do is I take my current color and pull my working yarn forward pull the new color through the loops and then bring the old color working yarn back over top of the new color working yarn if that makes any sense so that it ends up behind it but over top of it and then work with the new color and that seems to help a little bit I hope that made sense

Best thing to do just make yourself a little ball or sphere and practice. You just kinda have to jump in and there are so many good tutorials already here on UA-cam.
Mushroom is also a good colour for skin tones but it depends on the other colours you're going to accent it with because I think it pulls slight green tones when it sits with some colours but it is a beautiful colour. That is so true about yarn shopping all the stores I have access to have nothing to choose from! The other yarn you need a metal hook and I’ve heard a lot of people saying that it’s changed and is much smoother to work with. You just need to feel it before purchase so you don’t get the old stuff.
@@KnottingHookCrochet I tend to use metal hooks, aluminum vintage ones are actually my faves. Had them forever, not ergonomic. Have some inexpensive ergonomic hooks and use them too. Even plastic and sometimes a polished bamboo. I’m not picky about hooks except that I pencil hold and find the Furls style handle hard to manage.
Thanks for the tips, will checkout the B yarn for a softer texture and maybe invest in a few of the higher quality steel hooks. You are a dear.
