Other bombers can try to do the same but are likely to simply die a few seconds in the engagement due to pilot snipe, plane burnt down, or wing breaks.

Bombers in war thunder need a buff.. It's so stupid that you just get out climbed by fighters and everything else when your literal job is to climb and bomb at altitudes that fighters cant reach.

When was the Me 264 developed? I know the idea was that it would drop bombs on America, but it never really had a chance of doing so since it was developed late on the war, right?
The first flight was in very late 1942, but it wasn't continued past the prototype stage to allow Messerschmitt to concentrate on building fighters apparently.
Here’s a random guide to the me 264 for anyone who wants it. Climb as high as possible, but don’t rely on height alone to save you. Take an indirect route to your target, go on the edge of the map. When you arrive at the bases do as much damage as possible, and then cut power to your engines, and glide to your airfield, rearm and go up again. Trust me I’ve played hundreds of games in this thing and only been shot down 4 times :)
@@antongrahn1499 It really depends on the enemies they face, I have been in some matches where they would just not die, Ex: 37mm cannons did nothing, 20mm neither. he was the last one and the match ended because my team reported him lmao.

The 264 is cancer when you play as allies at this BR. Its faster, climbs better, has a huge payload, and devastating defensive guns compared to all other bombers at the BR. I lost a game in less then five minutes because the enemy team had three 264s that destroyed all the bases and the airport in one run before we could climb high enough to intercept them and I air spawned as a heavy fighter.
I was flying a P47 doing interceptor things and started three fires in a 264. I turn away, thinking he's dead. I look behind me AND ALL OF HIS FIRES ARE OUT. I circle back, but by this time, a 109 has found me.
I don't know if he wanted formation. He may have just been out of air speed and stalled out there. I am not gonna wait around and find out his intentions.

a squad of these bombers can get all the bomb targets and mangle or outright destroy the airfield in one go, letting these things live is not a good idea
@@build2270 Franz Stigler and Charlie Brown (the guy he escorted) post war had been living 200 miles apart, Charlie Brown living in Seattle (where I also happen to live) and Stigler living in Vancouver BC. They ended up meeting somehow and actually became very close friends until Stigler died in March 2008. It's crazy that 2 pilots who normally would've sworn to destroy each other became close friends just because one of them was amazed at how damaged a B-17 Flying Fortress was and still flew
