1984 Fender Esprit Standard
Wampler Mini Ego Compressor
Caline Pure Sky
J Rockett Audio The Dude
MXR M300 Reverb
Fender 68 Custom Princeton Reverb
I have one of these but the Flame model. It's a Sunburst top juts like that one, made in 1984. I have had it for over 30 years and my favorite guitar that I've ever owned. In my opinion, this design landing in the middle of a Les Paul and a Fender is just absolutely perfect. Whenever I've brought it out to a gig, everyone asks what it is, as those who see it loves it. It's very unique and rarely seen out in the wild. Thanks for the video!
Robben Fords guitar when I discovered him. He was always on the lookout for a guitar that "cuts". His did anyway. Great builds. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Made in Japan, it is semi hollow both sides of the centre and the roller bridge is Schaller as are the pick-ups. These were regarded as very well made guitars at the time although there were production issues in terms of turn-around - which was slow like a custom shop. In this respect delivery couldn't keep up with the marketing and they got a poor rep... until Robben Ford picked up one. The Espirit Standard should have a maple neck, rosewood fretboard, possibly alder body with a maple cap (it could vary on model). Thanks for the demo.
Thanks for adding some cool history and for watching. Peace!
my '85 contemporary strat has the same pickups, pretty killer. with the coil split you can get a great range of tones out of them. good pallet for a wide range of styles
A deceased friend of mine had the sunburst one with block inlays.. very cool guitar... only one I've ever seen until now! Very cool!
Greetings Edward. Yeah this was a cool one. Sounds like your friend had the Elite version. Thanks as always bud.
Really unique instrument Rick, you did an awesome job of playing it as usual. My brother is a big Robben Ford fan and you may have noticed our signature intro is Dan playing Robben Ford Revelation on a Harley Benton HWY-25 BKS which is a deceptively good guitar especially for under $100. This Fender Esprit is really unusual for a Fender and even for a semihollow guitar. Great sounding great looking guitar.
Definitely Leo. Maybe they should bring this one back. Thanks for the nice compliments as always.
@@RickRomanelli You earned em pardner. I'm not always right, but I know what I like and you certainly have some of it.
KOOl Guitar, dig how you play fairly CLEAN, sounds really good. Like that track, found it , might give 'er a go LOL But i'll muddy up the tone though OF COURSE !!! Great review, SWEET licks!!!
That's a fun track Don. I'll look for your version. Thanks for watching ALL THE TIME!!! Peace Don.
@@RickRomanelli RIck, I sent U an email, check your spam from aprilfools2020
My dad got his in about 1986. The shop were desperate to sell them and he got a deal. I couldn't get a good sound out of it when I played it. The pickups are weird
Just picked up my RF cloned Esprit from the shop. After many years gigging it, she finally got a well deserved fret replacement. My only guitar for 25 years. Kind of sad to see guitars like that with no playing wear whatsoever. I didn't particularly care for the Schaller PUs. The SD JB/59 combo worked well for me. I'm a blues player and rarely used the coil splitter. The neck PU gave about all I ever needed. I bought her back in the 90's second hand and had never head of Robben Ford. He quickly became one of my heroes and he signed it for me at a gig with Larry Carlton in Houston about 7 yeas ago.
I didn't know nothing about collecting electric guitars back in the late 1980s to 2000. Otherwise, I would've amassed a large guitars collection by now
Wow beautyfull guitar, and great sound, big liked my friend,,,
New friend here stay conected
Thank you so much 👍
awsome guitar and I really like your playing
Thanks Rick Danner! I appreciate the feedback when it is positive! Haha! Peace to you.
Hey just so folks are aware, Eastwood ,at the time of this comment, is making a clone of this guitar. I have the flame elite version of an original. I love it and would never sell it!
Thanks!
i have a fender esprit elite
Cool. I'd love that guitar. Thanks for the comment!
Nice tones
Glad you like them Janice!
I think Paul R. Smith stole that headstock design... them knobs is '80-82 Stratocaster, but Reverb says they're out of stock... Robbin Ford is the dead guy from Ratt??? No Freds, no silly kitties...
Feds and catz will be back soon. Paul R. S. is a sneaky bugger.
it's pronounced "Es-PREE"
Shes a beaut. I have never seen one
I remember the Flame in the stores when I was young. Sure is cool. Hey Jeff, I'll get back to you on the lessons thing. I've been thinking about it.
@@RickRomanelli thanks. I sure could use a good lesson to work on
I just got a flame standard today. Very cool oddball fender
Still got mine from 1984 - a lovely instrument. The luthier I used to use added push/pull pots and a phase invert toggle to add (vastly) more variety to the tones - same switching as the Elite and Ultra versions. He also suggested restringing with Skinny Top/Heavy bottoms to correct a little 'waffling' on the 2 low strings, and shimmed the centre rollers a little on the bridge so that string bends don't choke off quite so quickly. Not adjusted or tweaked since (other than restringing and regular lubrication) but it's still as good as new.
My dad has an '84 esprit . It's amezing for everithing. You can do jazz , blues ,rock or trash metal is amazing. I love it.
That's very cool Nicholas. Thanks for sharing. It definitely is a cool fiddle. Peace!
Great improv Rick and that guitar sounded nice in all positions as well, great review 😀🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Adam! I appreciate the kind comment!
There was also the Coronado that had me salivating back in the day, remember those? Bostin' playin' old boy ;-0) \m/
I do Clive. All the guitars I couldn't afford at the time and now I can play some of them. You are a Bostin dude watching all my videos. Thanks my friend.
