Love seeing Corey and Jon get super competitive at the end. Corey isn't trying to be silly when he's trying to win and Jon is trying so hard to win with a much lower power level deck.
This is my Grixis "Counter" Battles Deck! So excited to see it being played! I've never got Marit Lage out, but I have hit someone for 10 playing Dark Depths with All Will Be One out! Watching the game now!
@highbrowloubrew thanks so much! I haven't finished the episode yet so I am not sure if he got it out but Vexing Puzzlebox is one of my fave AWBO interactions. It basically turns a D20 into a chaos cannon lol
@anibalgarzaii8248 I have it in the back of the deckbox! I haven't figured out what to trade out for it yet! Pretty hilarious to see Thief of Blood basically used against my own deck in this game though. Would be rough to have to start the calendar over again lol
Unless i missed something, Corey sacrificed "Wall of stolen identity" at 1:08:46 to "Dread Return" flashback but returned it to hand and recast it at 1:15:45. Hazards of using additional cards to represent the copy i guess.
Hey guys - just want you to know that this is THE channel. The content is fire always. You guys all have a special place in my week. Thank you for being awesome!!!
@Stephen Green I had you sign my Ragavan commander at Magic Con Chicago. @Jonathan Suarez signed my Hermit Druid in my Kathril, Aspect Warper when I let him choose a card. My first precon and commander and my ABSOLUTELY favorite commander
Congratulations Corey....even if I was just sitting here waiting for a reanimate on that Thassa's Oracle :D also remember Victimize ;) GG Jeremy for the First Marit Lage
So @ 52:50 Steve tries to cast despark targeting Sauron but it’s ward ability would cause Steven to sacrifice something to pay the cost but he can’t do that since Sigarda says he can’t be forced to sacrifice permanents from an opponent’s ability correct? Am I wrong?
Not a judge, but i don't think Ward forces you to pay the additional cost. In the sense that Steven could opt to not pay the ward tax, at the cost of despark being countered.
Though looking at: > 12/7/2018 : As a spell or ability an opponent controls resolves, if it would force you to sacrifice a permanent, you just don't. That part of the effect does nothing. If that spell or ability gives you the option to sacrifice a permanent (as Desecration Demon does), you can't take that option. i have to wonder if it falls into the latter... Steven couldn't pay the option, and it would be countered? Going to need a judge! 😅
@@ethanchristian394 yeah I was looking at that exact ruling right after this happened. I don’t blame these guys for missing that at all but i just wanna know for future reference
Sigarda only stops your opponents effects from forcing you to sacrifice, you can do it all day long if you want. Yasharn would turn off all sacrificing
When Corey tried to have Sakashima's Protege copy the Nightmare Shepard, Protege says that it can only copy something that entered the battlefield that turn, which Shepard did not.
@@CoreyBMTG Nah, you didn't get the ephemerate off the gonti till like 20 minutes later. You killed the gigantoplasm with its own ability so it could get exiled with the Shepard then had it come back as a Karmic Guide to get back the Protege to have it be the Shepard before it died to the wispmare.
What a fun game to watch, some utter silly nonsense happened which is so entertaining. Thanks gents for the great content. Also, congrats to Corey for popping his cherry. About time!
Saw Corey with Gyruda and thought it might be my deck 😢 (it wasnt). Also a tip for Gyruda. If you have Spark Double or Sakashima of thousand faces, always copy them so you have multiple ways around the legend rule
first blood with Marit Laige isn't something I knew was on my bucket list..but it is there now also I love when two equally powerful decks go to top decking and the players have to find a way to win.
So, Steven should have died from Cory's attack at 53:00, as nobody at the table noticed that at 02:46, Steven never paid the life to activate his Marsh Flats.
When corey flashbacked dredge return and use the leige as one of the sac targets. But returned the clone that was the leige to his hand. Did i miss something or was that a error? I know there was alot going on lol
Doesn't Sigarda providing "Spells and abilities your opponents control can't cause you to sacrifice, etc..." mean that Despark on Sauron is basically uncounterable and not require a legendary sacrifice?
Sigarda would actually make the Ward cost unpayable for Stephen, so the Despark wouldn't be able to resolve. Back in standard Sigarda had a similar interaction with Desecration Demon where if an opp effect gave you the choice to sacrifice something, Sigarda would not let you.
One thing I love about stealing other people's cards is that almost every deck has cards in them that would absolutely ruin it if someone else casts it
Corey I wanna congratulate you on the win. But isnt this the season where you have the -1 point from your play of Emrakul? So it's not 31-30. It's 30-30? Please correct me if I'm wrong here and would gladly just edit to congratulating Corey on finally winning Commander VS! But also seriously no more of these decks. 😂
Not 10 minutes into the game and marit lage just comes to wreck Stephens life total...(sees there's still 90+ minutes in the video) well that escalated quickly
Cory had to cheat to get the win. He sacrifice the clone of Mariet Lage to Dread Return, but then proceed to put it back into his hand, and later used the clone to lock down John's commander. Amount of sloppy plays has been putting me off the show lately.
First blood was amazing… but… I don’t like playing against solo deck and I also don’t like watching solo gameplay… sorry for the negative note… I sadly didn’t enjoy this game. Your guys remains the best though ❤

First blood with Marit Lage is absolutely EXQUISITE.
Dare you say "exquisite blood"?
Jeremy sits a lot in that particular seat, but his joy when he gets to do the fun, dumb stuff in Magic is infectious.
Victimize puts the creatures on the battlefield tapped!

@yorkazord319 I certainly do. Same with supernatural stamin tooa😅

We for sure got in a mode and he almost got me. I almost let it slip away for sure. :)
when nethroi mutates its 10 power worth of creatures not mana value 55:09 he still somehow managed to still get total 10 power though 😂😂
That's what I was thinking 😂
Always shocked when Jon and Stephen miss that Victimize puts the creatures into play tapped since they've played forever.
TIL I've been playing that card wrong for a decade. I've always got to '...return the chosen cards...', and gone 'Wow, both creatures...'
Tbh I don’t know how long I’ve been watching SCG. Thank you guys for such an awesome show.. just always makes me laugh and enjoy table top magic.

So many misplays but i was really hoping Jon saw the Flickerwisp on Gyruda play to milk the last 4 cards for Corey
Corey's first season win! Let's Go! 😁
This game was worth the extra wait. Congrats on the first blood first! Congrats to the winner! What a fun deck!

I thought that the clones of Inferno Titan would all be normal power/toughness. Is that not the case?
Where can i find the decklists for these decks ?
Keep giving them hell Corey!
At the end was it just me or did they not count bontus -3 life the 2 times ? Idk by the end i was kinda just done 😂
Are there SCGcon events in Europe as well?
I was so hoping Jeremy had a removal spell for one Acroma. A save for him, not that it mattered at that point, and a negative point for Corey.
Acroma doesn’t have haste attacked first turn in play
It would be fun to add bounties to an episode or season. Ie. "Get first blood with marit lage +1 point"
Victimize brings back tapped creatures.
well done Corey

Why Corey didn't copy sakashima and as sakashima copy Garuda. So it doesn't matter if the original shakashima dies
This game starts _so fast_ and ends _so slow_ . Very enjoyable, regardless.
Couldn't Corey possibly mill jon out by copying felidar with metamorph and blinking gyruuda again?
I want this kithril build
BEARDED JEREMY
The creature exiled by hostage taker comes back into play under it’s owner’s control if they don’t cast it and hostage taker dies or gets exiled
