The eastern part of the Roman Empire, which includes Greece, had very few ampitheatres as the games were not popular there. Most of the ampitheatres are found in the western part of the empire including North Africa. The Romans also developed their own theatres modelled to some extent on Greek theatres though unlike the Greek ones Roman theatres were usually free-standing and there were other differences also.
