Ridley has a thorough perspective who he wants to have in his films. He looked at Jodie Comer in her brilliant portrayal has Villanelle in Killing Eve. He thought she was astounding and from that asked her to be in his film. I also think the writers Ben, Matt and Nicole had a big hand in casting Jodie. She will be the cog that gets the film moving to academy awards. Ridley also said that Jodie Comer is the best Actress he has worked with and she will dominate her ability for the next generation and above. He knows what he is talking about.
I love Ridley Scott. No one does an epic like him. Kingdom of Heaven: The Directors Cut is such a beautiful film. Damn shame it was butchered by the studio for the theatrical cut.
Jodie Comer as Josephine. Brilliant. Thank you, Sir Scott. If she doesn't win an Oscar for Marguerite, let's hope her Josephine will put her over the top, as well she deserves.
Is that still gonna be a project she'll work at? I haven't heard any more news and the only new project in production according to het IMDB is Big Swiss which is now in production? Did she leave the project? Or will it take more time and be produced after Big Swiss? I'm confused XD
The only part of the 21st century I like, is when after engaging with someone face-to-face we can then nonchalantly ask: "I am sorry how rude of me... What country are you in?" 🤔 Joking aside, as an English armour-maker living in France, and a huge fan of Sir Ridley the visionary, I look forward to experiencing his take upon this tale. The half-visors have me baffled, but I can still understand the reason for the artistic licence. Because very often the 'Breaths' (breathing holes in visor or Ventail) were only on the right of the helmet as the thinking was it was most-likely the left side of the helm/helmet that would be taking the hit. Cinema being cinema, sometimes if we follow the rules, it lessens the drama and also hide the actors face. I would probably pour scorn on any other director taking this liberty, but in Ridley I trust! ⚒️🏆🇬🇧
Interesting point re 'artistic license'. One of the things I've noticed for years, in icy cold scenes, from classics such as Scott of the Antarctic, or similar, rarely are their faces covered. I worked in Antarctica for several years, with temperatures down to -50C in the Winter etc and know that long before it gets that cold, when venturing outside, one leaves no part of the skin exposed, as just gets burnt etc. Of course, if these scenes were completely authentic, nobody would know who was acting, with all the faces completely covered AND invariably wearing the same kit !! As a kid, I remember my mum complaining about how clean their skin and teeth were, in these historic classics, and unfortunately even now, I can't 'unsee' how perfect their teeth are 🤣🤣
i accepted the half visors the moment i saw them. i knew that getting angry about them was a waste. the actors need to be seen, especially if they are doing their own stunts. the book described the armor in detail for folks who care, but great info about the breathing holes on the right side. I will look into that.
*Ridley Scott*: Women in history didn’t have a voice. *Also Ridley Scott*: Cuts-off, interrupts and talks over the only woman in the conversation 5 times!
People keep saying she’s from where the Beatles are from but her accent has an Irish-Scottish touch they don’t have. I saw the fllm and it’s fantastic but I felt the POV from Jodie’s character harsh about her husband. In those times, he could have had her killed but he chose to believe her. That deserved respect.
That's the complexity of sexism. He loved her, she was his wife BUT he did not view her as an equal with her own mind but as something under him and belonging to him as an extension of himself and his needs, his desires.
@@Nazaba09 He did not fight for her justice, he fought for HIS honour after having Le Gris rape his wife, it was the final straw. He had already taken his land and now his wife; both property in his eyes. Did you actually watch the film? He even forces her to have sex after she had told him she was just raped because he needed to remark his territory. I cannot believe, you as a woman, can write such an asinine response!
The point of view of each one made themselves look better. I just wasn’t a fan that they put the “truth” when introducing her view, and not leave it up to us to put the pieces together
Scott's two finest films are unquestionably his 2nd and 3rd. He has had some flourishes with Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven (Ext.), Black Hawk Down and The Martian but he hasn't been able to match them.
Think I prefer when these interviews are audio only. Then we are spared people looking at watches and iPads. If you don5 want to do promotion, DONT BOTHER THEN!
i've watched it. it was great. i recommend it. i didn't need french accents to care about the story. but maybe you'd like the book better, so you can imagine french accents.
Jodie is a diamond. We will be seeing so much more of her if directors are smart enough to interest her in good scripts/projects. 💍 💎
@@meurglys I can't wait to see it. After holiday clean up, first movie then Tender Bar with Ben Affleck.

Good job the directors cut is out there. Its stunning.
I'm also mad that netflix and disney + only puts the theatrical cut . Its so dumb
can we just take a moment to acknowledge - oh my GOD those are good looking 'phone-in' camera setups for the interviewees.
That’s big studio advertising and marketing funding being put to good use haha
Haha I suspect they were sat there doing interview after interview ad nauseam.
jodie is so talented and wonderful... i can't breathe
Ridley Scott is an absolute legend has made movies that have really touched my life
But he’s not better than Michael Bay who made the greatest movies of all time; The Transformers series

Ridley Scott, THE finest director in my lifetime , with Scorsese & Spielberg right behind.
The best film I've seen this year

@@10animallover10 She wasn’t able to do the film in the end due to scheduling issues I think.
Non linear structure with three different perspectives , looking forward to seeing this film
I won't be as good as Rashomon
Jodie and Harriet have an incredible chemistry. Really lovely to watch 😍
This is neither here nor there but THATs her real voice? totally different from what i was expecting. Even more respect for her talent i suppose
Oh I know I LOVE her Liverpool accent!
You should hear her Villanelle with a Russian accent in Killing Eve as well, it will blow your mind!
Did you not see her as Elizabeth of York, in "The White Princess ?"- she was stupendous.
Actually a good interview. The interviewer asked interesting questions and let the interviewees talk.

Wow I found this book by chance on the back shelf of a charity shop 15 years ago, had no idea it would be made into a film.
From now on, whenever we meet, in private or in public, you have to call me Sir Ridley.
This film cant fail to be epic with this Cast and Director
Though this movie is awesome, it has actually flopped.

At first I was undecided, but a second watch thru I truly enjoyed this film.
I loved the film. Yes, slow paced, but very good acting and interesting story.
the pre-film trailer version is so much better than the one at the start of this video
