What an interesting video, im not a sailor, not even near an ozean 😂, but i love dreaming about it, how different life can be, i love see people living my dream ❤ and especially you guys ❤ stay safe and healthy 🙏 much love from Austria, Vienna
Congratulations on your health news. My wife and I are celebrating 10 years in April. The 6 month checkup is always stressful. And it gets a little easier every year. Love hearing your stories and pearls of wisdom. Congrats!
Grace and Bill, first and foremost, congratulations, Grace, on your health check. For both of you, I'm looking forward to your crossing. Fair winds and following seas
I took a screen shot of the two of you, printed it, and put it on my refrigerator. I pray for you when I look at it and when someone asks me who you are, I tell them that you are the best friends I have never met.😊
Oh I had no idea it was so much BORING stuff to do! And I thought it was a pain to move on land to England - sorting out kids Nintendo , lol 😅! Way to keep on track! YAY for community! ❤
So glad I found you guys through watching Delos. I haven’t missed a video since you hunkered down at the TTYC! Your a wonderful couple and I really enjoy your videos. Excited to see your crossing!
With all the talk about Everyone being in the same boat!!! Buddy Boat with someone with a very big boat!!!😂😂😂😂 OH yah ! Enjoy the ride 😀 Just a old dude from Pender Harbour BC 😎👍🇨🇦
I can't wait for you two to start your Pacific voyage. It's taken you a lot of planning and hard work to get this far. Also, I'm very happy Grace got good news concerning her breast cancer. I've just lost my mom to liver cancer, so I know how hard it's been for the two of you to fight this terrible disease. Congratulations on having 33.8 subs.
Hi Grace & Bill, great video, so much learning from other people’s experiences. I writing this from Hobart in Tasmania the island state in the far south of Australia, 42 degrees south. Now I maybe a little biased but l think Tasmania has the best cruising grounds in all of Australia, so don’t forget about good old Tassie. Best of luck on your passage, so glad with your good health news. I know a little about what you have been through, as I lost my dear wife Carolyn three years ago, after a nine year fight with cancer. Kind Regards Alistair McRae
If I ever won a major lottery I would give you guys a few million for sure!!!! I hope you get to meet up with Delos again when you guys get there, safe travels guys :)
Boy I really feel like you became Auntie Grace to Sierra and I can only imagine how hard saying goodbye in the cruiser life is. I hope you guys get to link up again in the South Pacific and that you get to rekindle that relationship with 'the nugs'
Yes it is hard not to see her regularly but we do calls and she remembers us and it always blows my mind. She is the most special little human ever and I’m just grateful I had time with her. But we will reunite someday just looks like it will not be FP
I completed the crossing Feb 17 - March 18. I been watching your channel. You have the skills and knowledge and prepared to do this. All the best! SV KaiBo
What a great episode. You guys are so generous with sharing your lives in such detail. We are looking forward to watching your pacific crossing . Will you be buddy boating with breaking waves Or any others?
Please post to youtube community so we can pray for you all. I like the idea of putting a photo of you 2 on the refrigerator to pray often! May you be blessed with great perfect weather, calm waves, fun times and an abundance of fish.😊
Ghezz ,,,,,,,now ya got me nervous for the crossing and I’m not coming. You bought back memories for me. I traveled the world for six years with a backpack on and of the best friends I ever had in the world I had to say goodbye to, so I know where you’re coming from. It’s a bummer, so enjoy while you can, and I can tell you that after forty years those memories are still vivid. 👍
The only thing I’m really excited to see on your crossing is your amazing footage and raw sailing knowledge. When you change the sail plan, you always tell us why, what you’re looking at, and how it’s REALLY going…other channels don’t do that. After all you’ve been through, I’m excited to see you guys have fun and push the limits of sailing again! You guys are FANTASTIC sailors.
It's just hard to imagine how much preparation it takes to be ready for such an thing as crossing an ocean by sailboat especially for us land lovers. You really have to love that lifestyle to accomplish those adventures. Amazing. I drove a truck for million's and million's of miles for 41 years and people thought I was crazy but at least I got home one or two nights a week and you guys go a long while without seeing family. My hat is off to ya. Glad ya got a good report from the doctor youngin, you are really looking good. Y'all stay safe.
all it takes to cross an ocean is a partner that loves and supports you, and work togeather. you guys have that and a good boat. ok maybe a little extra work...lol!
Firstly, congrats on the health check up. Great news. Thanks for getting into the logistics of it all. I love the good times but I also want to hear all about the not so good times. I am considering boat life myself. I’m not sure if I can handle it but the more information I get the more I think I may go for it. Thanks for videos. Love your channel.
Thanks John. We aim to keep it real. It is not always easy or straightforward (often times it’s the opposite) but it is very deeply rewarding. It takes time to adapt to a very different lifestyle but if you give yourself that and stay focused on the goal in time you may feel it was the best decision! That has been our experience but it didn’t happen overnight. Many steps backwards but the longer we do it the more enriched we feel our lives have become 💕
Loved the catch-up with your preparations. Excited to watch your journey. You are a fantastic couple that is so relatable. You’ve come a long way in your skills, understanding, goals, and expertise in sharing your journey with viewers. Keep it up. The one thing that seems to be lacking with most sailing YT is how channels are updating patrons frequently and leave the ‘potential patrons’ hanging in the wind with delayed episodes. Hoping you will continue to show your viewers you care about them all. And in so doing, odds are your patrons will grow more quickly than those ‘others’. ;) You guys are the best and as a retired couple, budgets with fixed incomes are something that are important. I’m sure as sailors you understand. Anyways, hoping you enjoy a safe crossing. What a fantastic experience so many of us envy. Go forth, ⚓️ away.
I am looking forward to whatever you release. I like the fact that you guys always show all aspects of your voyage, the good the bad and the boy we didn't expect this shit.
you guys are pretty awesome and it;'s great to follow along. being sailors we understand so much and it helps to know others are dealing with the same logistics. we have not done a pacific crossing but it seems there are always logistics and planning! hope you have smooth sailing and keep the vids flowing.
Hope you had a nice Easter! A massive THANK YOU for doing this extremely informative session - absolutely loved it! The number of prep items you are ticking off is simply mind-boggling. So nice that you are able to hang out with friends old and new while prepping and waiting for the ideal weather window. And both of you look to be in excellent health which is always great to see. Looking forward to the adventure to come, and wishing you a safe passage. Stay well.
Glad you enjoyed it :) It's hard to communicate the number of logistics involved in a normal vlog story line, thought it would be fun to have a update to better communicate what we are up to 😀
I'm *super* excited for you folks! There might be a touch of 🟢green🟢 mixed in with that excitement. It's cool you were able to meet Garrett & his little dynamic squeeze. Talk about earning their way eh‽ 🙏🦉 🌅⛵
Butterflies, that’s what I want to know about. Big time crossing. Can’t imagine the butterflies are leaving you alone even this far out from actually leaving. Love you guys, my favorite, real time small boat doing big things.❤
What a great opertunity to be right where you are and be surrounded by people doing the same thing! All the resources are right there too. All this sets you up to be successful in your crossing. I am so looking forward to the day you cast off the lines and head west by southwest! Can't wait!😊👍
Happy for the both of you. Thanks for sharing what it's truly like to prepare for a crossing. If I'm ever in the area I'll be sure to check out Lusty on Land, love the name 😜. Hope your weather window comes soon, looking forward to the updates. Wishing you full sails and flat seas.
I’m glad that Graces health is good and you folks are putting it all together. My best thoughts and prayers are with you two. I am looking forward to traveling across the pacific with you, from your perspective. Cheers
You probably have some 110Vac kitchen appliances and probably they are fed from your Batteries to an Inverter with 110V output. Consider having some 220V appliances that can be fed directly from Shore power. Its good you got a new Shore power battery charger that accepts different Input Voltages... thats very smart. Consider also to sail with a "Buddy" boat, that would add to your safety ..... big cheers, P&F from Sechelt, BC, Canada
Our plan is to run all the appliances off our inverter and feed the boats batteries with the new chargers. I like this set up as we can effectively isolate our boat from shore side fluctuations due to the chargers accepting a wide range of voltages. I guess we could always bring and extension cord into the boat for 220v but it'd be hard to chang our shore power system over to 220v
I saw you hooked up with ruth and garrett, since a snowy mountain top boatyard ,(& patreon). Glad your plans are coming together, i've sailed a lot but never dreamed of a pacific crossing. Have a great time. cheers warren
Grace we are glad to hear that you check ups all look good. Glad to see you guys are getting ready to make the jump across the big pond and hope you catch up to Delos.
I've not been unsubscribed from any of my channels, but I've had a couple of my channels deleted. I'm looking forward to the provisioning plan. I'll have to be doing that myself before too long.
One (huge) step at a time, the Marquesas, then look ahead from there. You will sleep better. The more you look, the more you'll find to do but the boat won't fix itself!
@@CalicoSkiesSailing it’s puzzling to me how UA-cam regularly attacks their content creators. One moment UA-cam is boosting you and the next UA-cam is erasing your subscribers. UA-cam is definitely abusive in their relationship with content creators.
So many different content creators of different types have been complaining that UA-cam has been unsubscribing their subscribers. It is a common problem and has caused lots of creators to lose advertising income also. So, we must always check our subscriptions to ensure it is still valid. Thanks for the update Bill and Grace. So good to hear, Grace, that you are at this point in your health journey, clear of this deadly disease. I pray it continues that way permanently. And Bill, I do hope to see the Clampets Truck here in Australia one day. If you ever do come here and decide to drive that thing along the southern coast of Australia to the west side, please contact me and I'll meet you both in Albany for a coffee and a chat. I pray you, and all the other sailors who traverse the Pacific this season, have a safe and enjoyable trip. Can't wait to see all the video!
Yea its crazy that people engaging with our channel are getting unsubscribed! Ya never know where we will end up, will let ya know if we make it over there!
i am so excited for you guys to finally cross the pacific and make this dream come true,.. So good to hear that all is well with grace health, priority number one.. i would deft advice to get the long stay visa, even if you have to go up again to the marquesas islands to scape the cyclones, from all the other youtube channels i have seen that didnt get the long stay visa, i feel they felt short of the true experience of french polynesia, and those who did get the long stay visa, have had a more rewarding experience, there are soooo many tuomotos islands to explore and i feel for some reason you guys should do that, 3 months for all of french polynesia is too short, but eitherway i know you guys will do whats best for you... i look foeard every week to any type of content you give us, its always so good seeing your boat work, prep and also crusing life.. best of luck, todya is the 7th soi guys only a few more days untile you guys set out. have good seas guys, like we say in spanish, BUENA MAR SIEMPRE.
It would be awesome if you make it to SE Queensland, Australia and I could meet up with you both, if it works out and if you'd like to meet up. We have an old boat we are hoping to work on shortly at a marina. I love watching your videos. :)
Yes times a getting close. Today is April 2nd and tomorrow the 3rd and you were saying is the likely 1st window to leave, but you'll wait until the weather system actually shows the system you actually need so likely 1 to 2 weeks before you start your crossing. Wow there sure is a lot of preparation to get ready love to see your get ready check list. Yes Garret is an amazing builder and knows his tools. Looking forward to next video excited for you. And I agree with Grace this more up to date video is better. Later
I like it when channels get right up to real time but it can make production a little weird as you can't "produce" like you may have in the past. But, it is real, and that might scare you, its hard to keep secrets if you feel like doing that. Anyway , we talk about weather routing a lot. We have a boat just past Clarion Island right now, a group of weather folks, radio folks, ect, we talk to him every day and discuss what we think we are seeing. A lot of the wind near there is going fairly strongly from the NE and one router sent me the predicted weather for that boat for the next 5 days I believe. He's a great router. We communicate on HF. Anyway, wishing the best for you. I think Cas and Brian have started south because of this new boat ? They are all over the place. Wishing you the best.
Yea we hear the roughest weather is the first 4-5 days out with wind and current coming off the baja peninsula. Should get a little bit easier as we get into the trades south of Clarion Island
Hey Bill I don’t remember seeing you doing this so if you already have just ignore this. Since you seem to be a very capable fix almost everything yourself kind of guy I would find it interesting to know what you would consider to be a must have boat library. I think it would make a good episode if you need some filler when you are weather bound and can’t get out for one of your adventures. Just a thought meanwhile I’m still loving your content and am eagerly awaiting the start of your crossing! Be safe!
A book I use quite often is Boatowners Mechanical Electrical Manual Maintain by Nigel Calder.. very good at breaking down issues on a broad level that can be used on various vessels
I suspect you'd catch up to Brian and Kazza at some point, traveling with Sierra onboard I think they tend to move at a slightly slower pace than some other sailing channels... If not in the Marquesas, the somewhere west of there soon after... Glad to hear the medical update Grace, not much left now but to cross that darn ocean! I enjoy watching the crossings, but am super excited to get to the part where you are anchored in French Polynesia and the real fun part of your adventure begins!!

Looking forward to seeing your journey. Good luck from the UK and fair winds 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Good episode
i am so excited for you guys to finally cross the pacific and make this dream come true,..
Thank you! Can't wait
Thanks again from Lexington Kentucky!✌️😎
Our pleasure!
Wishing you a perfect crossing. Safe adventure. ❤
Thank you!
You bet!
It would be awesome if you make it to SE Queensland, Australia and I could meet up with you both, if it works out and if you'd like to meet up. We have an old boat we are hoping to work on shortly at a marina. I love watching your videos. :)
Maybe one day!
So excited for your journey!
Can't wait!
Can't wait to see your crossing. Hope you catch Delos in your travels.
I hope so too!
Later
Yep there is a window this saturday but Grace's mom is visiting so we will be on the next one out!
Thank God for your health news 🫶 wonderful community too … Wishing u guys a safe & happy crossing 🇨🇦 ❤
Thank you!
I enjoy watching the crossings, but am super excited to get to the part where you are anchored in French Polynesia and the real fun part of your adventure begins!!
ohh yea!! can't wait for those stunning island back drops!
