At the age of just 27 to see such a talent retire so young is always heart-breaking but knowing of her history of the attempted suicide in 2017 (Hawaii) and for her own sister to take her life last year you can under the heavy burden of her shoulders even shutting down their family-owned MMA training facility in Hawaii. I just hope the best for her future and that someone stays by her side forever to keep her strong at all times.

I followed my heart numerous times. Its led me to be homeless. To lose my car house friends and ultimately i had to leave home for my own well being and mental. Following my heart led me to a new city and the one time ive struggled this much was when i was homeless. Thinking with my brain in the past got me a house a car an education and a woman who loved me. So im a walking example of how always following your heart isnt a good choice or right choice but its just a choice.
She's so fine, man. And the fact that she's a ferocious fighter makes her surreal. Sad to see her retire but it's for the best. She and her siblings were probably forced by her parents to go that hard for the belts. I wish her a well deserved retirement and betterment in mental health.
MMA is a hard life. I don’t know about companies like ONE, PFL, or Bellator, but UFC is reportedly not a very lucrative company to compete for. That might be one reason apart from not having one’s heart into fighting still. • Consider also that Lee has fought for eight years. Even if one is twenty-five or twenty-six, eight years is a long time to be fighting. Injuries, the kind that don’t heal right, can add up. There’s also TBI or CTE to worry about. There’s just too much to consider and take in. • Anyone who’s willing to go through the pain; blues, and agony that comes with competing as a MMA fighter, more power to ya. As for Angela Lee, I wish her the best and want her to be happy wherever her journey takes her.
Angela please get counseling. Your living with so much hurt and survivors guilt, and all the what ifs, please talk to a professional. Been there and sometimes you need that extra help getting through it. That's why you started fight story. I hope you can do more fight commentary it was great hearing a knowledgeable woman talking about each fighter's strengths and strategies. One day at a time one step at a time...
