When playing chess do you memorise the whole board and position of pieces? I can get by on pc, but keeping it all in mind is a task. Really would like to see more about pc and Android games. Used to love them, but now the scope is limited, some of the games that are blind friendly are expensive, viewed from a South African view, the exchange rate sucks. Truly fascinating... I had a friend in middle school who needed sight aids. He would let me use his books and try to teach me, and I just couldn't get the patterns right, and I really did try. To remember all that touch data is incredible.
i love your writing, dave, and i’m glad you’re making videos like this! i follow a few blind youtubers (from legally blind with some sight to completely unable to see from birth and everywhere in between) because accessibility fascinates me. i’m disabled, but in a different way, and it’s just so cool to see how we make the world around us work for us. i’d love to see you try some audio games - there have been quite a few video games that have come out that depend more on audio than visuals, and can be played by the blind with no accommodation needed, and encourage sighted users to cover their eyes while playing. if you’d like any recommendations, i can try to remember the names of the ones i’ve heard of! great video; looking forward to the next one!

Well spotted. Unfortunately, I forgot to mention that one set of pieces has soft Velcro pads on top of them.
