As a former crane repair guy, i have several comments. Heating a boom section to straighten a wrinkle makes a soft area in the boom. Where did they get the new plate for the repair? Is it alloy steel like original construction or just a chunk of mild steel? Did they have a sample of the old boom material tested to see what is or contact the factory to find this out? I wouldnt load test or certify this repair and I have done this repair several times. Trigger welding isnt welding. No attempt to check overall straightness with a string line or laser. And finally, if you have to use bondo to make it look good, you shouldnt have even tried to do the job.
Poor guys doing it have no glasses, ear protectors, respirators, or closed toe safety shoes either. I’m guessing safety is a bit of an illusion in that shop.
I was a bit concerned about the bubblegum weld, once I saw the body fill going over it all is good as that will strengthen it up. I assume it's guaranteed until the first lift or 'till it breaks whichever comes first? (If it lasts long enough to get it reassembled). Nice paint job tho.
Not to discount this video at all...but I think a prequel of this crane when it broke would be at least as horrifying in terms of safety as this. Actual build quality may be a toss up in terms of end user experience. What's another time bomb gonna do in a room full of time bombs.
None of what they did to make that repair would be legal in the US. You would have to replace that entire section of boom with either new or used. I like the rubber glove the "welder" is wearing on his left hand.
How do we know it's straight ? "we use string". How do we know it's not twisted ? "we used same string". How do we know it's strong to original spec ? "we used car body filler" Will this kill someone if it fails ?? "we can make coffin from off-cuts" omg.
u dont repair a crane part u do a new , the steel can be broken beyond eye sight..... but i guess look how many 1000+ crane and lifting accindents in some parts in asia, pakistan, india
OMG. No safety equipment or guards used, exposed wires coming out of the grinder and also note the inline switch because the factory switch must be faulty. Yep NEVER EVER going that Crain.
US pipeline welders are physically sobbing looking at that guy's welds. LoL
The bondo fixed it all 😂😂😂
Guaranteed as for long as it lasts.

Iam sure the nice paint job will make it super strong😅😂😊
First time i saw safety glasses and angle grinder quard in in this type of video!
Wouldn't like to be under any lift that crane was doing

the welding results are not convincing 😩😩😩

It was a hard work to weld inside this boom which barely enough for a slim welder 😅 Great job !
Put it back together and sell it quick before it snaps probably the first time it's loaded up

Are they using flux core wire?

That welder is to hot. That’s what makes the splatter like that. Union sheet metal workers #24.

Hallo from holland,hard working people.
Hard working people does not influence the durability of a repair.

For those being critical of the welding / repairs… it’s just a crane boom. Nothing to see here. 🤣
100%, hogy nagy terhelés alatt eltörik.
It did new so it will again if overloaded.
Less than that. Bent metal has weak spots and micro cracks, that boom is totaled. It might hold 70% of what it was but above 80% it's a miracle.
They had to use bondo to clean up the welds . Hope I never have to use this machine
bester Arbeitsschutz aller Zeiten 🤓🤦♂
I hate it when that happens.

What about the repair of the crane boom it should be junked not repaired😂
new safe work load 1 kg per mtr off boom. should have been scrap or dog houses, i hope this isn't been sold of over seas ?
Don’t trust any repairman with a clean shop floor.
They switched the piece at 18:50!
I see what you mean, dunno they switched it or just out of sequence.
@@mikemilburn7823 Notice the alignment tabs on each end are gone and the temporary lifting points are down to one.
Yeah, but no.
