Says a lot about Preemo's character that he wouldn't stop up the Gangstarr tour for the opportunity to DJ at a major award show for Janet Jackson. You gotta respect that level of loyalty and commitment. There are but so many folks who are that solid. Salutes to Premier for that.
The chain is a part of their logo, he didn't want to be the weak link. It's a part of the whole Gang Starr philosophy.

For Janet to have Preem on her song is crazy. For Premier to stay on tour with Gangstar is real!For him to still have that floppy is insane!That lets you know how much of a producer he is ! Incredible! Im sure Janet even had to show respect for his decision.Really though it would be hard for anyone to front on Guru though. This track wasn’t part of the album, this version was made as remix version and it was released with single cd with the original or 12 inch vinyl, I have the vinyl version.

This remix is banging, i found it by accident on youtube and added it to my ipod years ago, didnt even know there was a remix for it. Definitely an underrated one. Salute to preemo a class act always, he stayed loyal to his group when many would've took the opportunity and still got rewarded in the long run, salute to the legend janet Jackson.

DJ Premier was very influential to me as a young , UK Hip Hop head, Bedroom producer, DJ, Break Beat collector, in the late 1980's, early 1990's. my street name BreakBeatGlen.The DJ Premier's production skills on all thoes Gangstarr albums, I would describe as timeless, creative works of art and I continue to listen to those albums now in the year 2021.

I-Man RASpeck all the GOATs but DJ Premier yuh a di Top GOAT ... DJ Premier style reminds me of and represents the Jamaican/Reggae Great Lee 'Scratch-Mad Scientist' Perry (RIP). They both utilize the heavy bass and drum percussion originated from the MotherLand (Africa) into their creativity. Shout out from Yard (Jamaica).
