For those who are freaking out, this is most likely SOPHIE's brother, and no he is not hacking her account. Her brother said after her death, he said he would release some of her works after cleaning them up and finishing them up, and no it is not against her wishes. Apparently they were very close in her lifetime and she trusted him the most with her work, so there's no reason to say "sToP hAckInG hEr aCcoUnT!!!1!" And no, she is not alive nor did she come back from the dead.
Right? I've been thinking about her more these past weeks and days, I constantly think about her but the feeling was just deeper and there's been a lot of doubt and questioning in my life and this honestly feels like something big coming from heaven...
I know it’s not, obviously. I think it’s a posthumous release. Recently, like 1-2 months ago, a bunch of her unreleased stuff leaked, so maybe her brother decided to act on his previous words about putting together a posthumous release after she died seeing as people already now have access to a whole catalogue of leaked unreleased which are quite scrappy and unpolished tbh.
SOPHIE was a bender of waves. Many elements of her music were neither samples of pre-existing sound nor presets... they were pure FM. Mathematical equations conducive to making the distinctive "pots and pans" that make her music so impactful... that only work in the right hands. Sound design is such an underrated talent to have, yet SOPHIE had it. She had so much control over every aspect of everything. Cecile Believe's uncredited (except in the liner notes) vocal delivery in FACESHOPPING says it all... editing can be very authentic. And SOPHIE edited pure sine waves, the most fundamental sound possible, into very unique structures using nothing but mathematics. SOPHIE was a legend. I think there's something about electronic music production that inherently attracts trans women. There's something of a stereotype floating around certain corners of the internet (along with a trans computer programmer stereotype). I think it's because digital music is so versatile and unbound by human biology. You can use a computer for performance (in conjunction with a keyboard or other controller, or just with the built-in typing keyboard), but you can also use it for composition, production, collaging of samples, wave shaping, and more. You can tune your voice up, or you can tune it down. You can do whatever you want. You can legally "plagiarize" stock loops or do something no one has ever done before. You can record a guitar and run it through a rig. You can get all technical about waveforms and signal processing. You can write code in MAX or other scripting environments like it. Or you can just think about the sound and not think a thing about what's going on in the box at all. You can compose with staff notation, piano roll, or completely different systems. You can randomize things (not the same as "AI", by the way) or control everything yourself - or control how random and in what way. You can repeat the same thing 100 times or never repeat anything. You can make your synths sound like classic synths from the '70s and '80s - using exact algorithms and/or samples (or simulations of analog circuitry)... or use Orchestral Tools to make a string section that sounds like a string section.... or go on Musical Artifacts and download string section samples from the 90s and relive 2000s Nintendo sounds... or do entirely different things. Make it clicky. Make it snappy. Make it wobbly. Make it clangy. Make it beepy. Make it smooth. Quiet. Loud. Everything in between. Make music that no two people will hear the same way. In a way that showcases your brain, not your body. It's a tape machine, synth, modular groovebox, random bleeper, siren, guitar effects board, amplifier simulator, graphing calculator for the ears, and a lot you might not even hope to ever understand. And above all... Your computer won't change depending on what kind of puberty you went through. You get the full range. 20hz-20khz. Using a computer to make music isn't cheating. It's finding ways to both take advantage of and take control of a machine you already own. Whether you want to make sound as you go, make it over months, make it completely your own, or be the millionth to do this thing - or just get it to do something out of a hat - or anything in between - you can do it. People have played the spoons, made washtub basses, tapped on washboards, and gotten their computers to do all sorts of things. SOPHIE is PC music distilled.
We have been waiting 3 long years, so happy something is finally coming out!!!! Many songs were done and she was playing them live, so happy it will be official and not filtered through numerous bootleg versions.
She hasn't been hacked. It's a posthumous album release (by her brother), things she was working on that needed finalising. From what I've read, her and her brother were very close and this album is nothing but a blessing. We are lucky to have been here at the same time as Sophie x

this is one of those moments. and it is one of excitement.
For the last month I’ve been losing hope of something releasing and I was messaging a bunch of people trying to find any information. I’m so happy now
I wish the announcement is that SOPHIE isn’t dead, like in that movie Velvet Goldmine where the singer fakes his death or something.
