Meet the researcher: Professor Kerry Gaskin

Meet Kerry Gaskin, the first Professor of Congenital Cardiac Nursing in the UK, researching here at BCU and find out more about what congenital heart disease is.
Kerry's professorial role was included as a future vision in the Royal College of Nursing's vision for Children and Young People's Cardiac Nursing in 2014 with the guidance updated in 2021. The role reflects NHS and academic collaboration, leading and developing congenital cardiac nursing research and implementation of evidence-based practice across all children’s cardiac networks.
Kerry works collaboratively with other key nursing post-holders, such as lead nurses, nurse consultants, advanced practitioners, and clinical educators to produce high quality research outputs. Additionally, her aim is to contribute not only to the academic development of staff and students, but also to progress the development of a dedicated nursing research focused infrastructure within the NHS.
