Not to discredit your video by any means, very useful but I just changed out the steering wheel on my 08’ Civic and did NOT have to remove the 2 plastic panels around the ignition. Nor did I have to remove the bottom plastic panel under the dash. Also for anyone reading, I was able to jerk the steering wheel off without a steering wheel remover, just be careful.
Great explanation. A tip for anyone taking the steering wheel apart - All the screws with the washers are connecting metal to metal. all the washer-less screws are connecting metal to plastic. makes it very easy to take the steering wheel apart and putting it back.
This is excellent, thanks. Can I ask, my car doesn't have cruise control but other civic models do. If I buy an OEM steering wheel with cruise control and install it is there anything else I would need to do for it to work?
This is excellent. One question: what purpose did removing the drive shaft housing serve? It seems you could have done this without removing the extra plastic.
I currently have a 2007 Civic Sedan DX-G that has no steering wheel audio controls from the factory. If I source a wheel from an EX Coupe or Sedan with the controls, would I be able to just swap it in to have audio controls working? The wiring should already be present even if the car didn't originally come equipped with that feature right?
Would you say I have to replace the air bag part if the horn keeps getting stuck? I know you said not to, but I'll hit the steering wheel and it stops. The connections looks good. 🤷
Might not get a reply here but I'm wondering. Are the airbags on the coupe and sedan steering wheel the same? Want to swap the coupe/si wheel into my sedan and I can't really tell
Yes. You can. Just watch some you tube videos and go to a junk yard and get the proper wheel and remove dash to get the proper wires, at least for stereo. I have a feeling the cruise control willbe a lot harder.
+M.C. A. For this particular application, it is necessary to remove all the plastic shown in the video in order to get to all of the wiring and to properly remove the original steering wheel. This process may vary from application to application however it should be the same or a similar procedure. Hope this helps you out.
As he was about to remove the T30 bolts that hold the air bag assembly in place he said you should have new T30 bolts on hand before removing the old ones. Why? You can't reuse the same bolts?
I have heard elsewhere to use new bolts due to the thread locker being old. But I think you can just apply new thread locker. I didn't even bother tbh. Though I did replace the bolts (with other used bolts) since I managed to strip them by using a hex allen key instead of torx head.

+lRydeRdiel We currently do not carry the steering wheel. Thanks for checking us out!
I have watched a lot of “how to” vids and can I say as a technician myself this is without a doubt the clearest and best I have seen.
Top class

+blancA4blanc Thanks for the tip!
For the record, you don’t have to take the plastic trim from around the column.
+GtOG We appreciate the feedback. Sometimes there are multiple ways to accomplish the same repair.
@@1AAuto yes, but in this case, yours adds more unnecessary work. :)
@@1AAuto This wasn't one of the multiple ways to do this same repair. What you did was add an unneeded step in the middle of the procedure.
Didn’t have time for the puller so I put a little WD AND SLIPPED RIGHT OUT 🤙🏾
What size bolts or screws did you use in the steering wheel with the puller ?
You can get a similar steering wheel puller from O'Reilly. The puller just saved my day!
This is excellent, thanks. Can I ask, my car doesn't have cruise control but other civic models do. If I buy an OEM steering wheel with cruise control and install it is there anything else I would need to do for it to work?
Very well explained and good work, thank you very much !
This is excellent. One question: what purpose did removing the drive shaft housing serve? It seems you could have done this without removing the extra plastic.
Good question as we typically do not remove those panels unless we are removing the entire steering column.
I just did it and did not have to remove them or the panel under the steering wheel
Can the out part of the steering wheel be removed without full disassemble? I just want a new grip on mine and covers seriously suck
If the airbag popped does it affect the horn?

BlueChinchillaEatingDorito this is a good question
I just did that, audio buttons doesn't work.
@@xt9233 I think you need the connection from the steering wheel to the radio.
It’s going to be a lot of hard wiring to the radio for that to wok
@@efrainmartinez6798 So they made a completely different part number for the steering wheel column and wiring harness depending on the trim? Darn.

Awesome vid bro! 07 fg2 was a success
+Jermaine Coleman Thank you!
Could I upgrade Steering wheels of my Civic EX to have steering wheel controls by replacing like you did here?
+Jermaine Beckford Thanks for watching! Most likely not, as you will have to have pre-existing wires to hook them up.

is this the same process with the si trim?

Hi can I change the steering wheel of civic 2006 into 2008?
Can you explain why you need new torx bolts before you remove them? Surely you can just reuse those bolts with the new wheel. 🤔🤔

Take a look at the GT-MAX-1 Steering wheel if you like an F1 style compact one. You will need a Samsung Galaxy S20 phone though...

It’s 06-11 not 05

I have a question do you need to unplug the battery to do this ?
