I selected the shorty levers from MZS. I have these same levers on my Africa Twin and love them - and I think the blue color is pretty sweet too. These levers have proven to be effective and robust for my purposes. They are readily available and priced well.
The reach on the Yamaha OEM levers was a bit much for me and I felt like it was a stretch to maintain two fingers constantly covering the clutch and brake as I typically like to ride when off pavement. With these new shorty levers on my T7 I was able to adjust them to a sweet spot that gave me a much better feel, complete and trouble free operation of each lever, while maintaining a stronger connection to the handlebars. Both clutch and brake lever feel smooth and effective. I am very happy with how this worked out.
I do have a long list of aftermarket upgrades and accessories, but I am tempted by the Camel ADV one finger clutch upgrade. It would be awesome to decrease the effort on the clutch lever. But that's something to ponder for another day. Have experience with the one finger clutch upgrade? Let me know about it in the comments!
    Thanks for watching!

Thanks! Levers are a great upgrade. Easy to do and really can improve the feel of the bike.

Great video! I bought the same levers and will be installing them tomorrow. You're an inspiration!

Thank you very much for this video Points Unknown! Clear, short, to the point. Now I'm sure even an unskilled Ténéré-fan like me can change the levers ;-)
Just like you mentioned, I felt uncomfortable after a few off-road experiences with the long travel of the OEM lever.
Love your mirrors too, I'm checking out your chanel right after this to see what they are.
    Greetings from Belgium!

Thank you! I'm actively working on more T7 accessary and upgrade videos, so stay tuned. The mirrors are doubletake mirrors. Love them. Have them on all my bikes.
I may not have millions of views or thousands of followers, but if it's helpful to one person, it was worth making. Thanks again for the comment.

Did you have any issues after the install? I did mine today and am having clutch and brake lever problems. It's like they're too close up the grips in the farthest setting.

I did not have any issues after install. Assuming they are the right levers for the bike, If you are able to pull both of the levers all the way to the grips, then it sounds like there is too much freeplay in the clutch and air in the brake lines. There shouldn't be that much play in either lever, to be able to pull it all the way in.
That being said, it's curious that you didn't have the same problem with the stock levers. And perhaps something else is going on. Without more info on not sure how to help. But certainly don't ride it if you don't have working brakes or clutch.

when removing the clutch lever you have to screw the silver part all the way in to get slack and line up the slot so that you can remove the cable leaving the silver adjuster in place. then do the opposite when installing the new lever. what you are doing at 3:10 is wrong

Sure. If you say so. But my method worked just fine. And I'm not sure how you would remove the cable end from the slot with the adjuster in place. But I appreciate the feedback and can try that next time.

Yeah measuring with a caliper... 😁😁😁😂
Just fully lock the handblebar left and right and make sure you have a little free play left in each position. That caliper is bullshit method.

Just trying to show how to do it per spec. But yeah, there are easier ways.
